So in Mass Effect 2 near the end when Commander Shepard and his squad arrive at the Collector's base there is a giant Human Reaper and it was said something like that using the humans pumped through the tubes caused the reaper to shape into human form as it was made out of humans, what I would like to know is what race were the reapers originally pumped from to form what they are today and how were they even made, like did a synthetic race create Reapers to wipe out all organic beings and what was the "purpose" of the Reapers being made to be doing this?

The first reapers were made from the Leviathans, who were an ancient acquatic race of giant squids (they looked EXACTLY like the Sovereign-type reapers) who had pretty advanced technology and ruled over a great part of the galaxy. Their own Catalyst project became their undoing, as they were wiped out and processed into reapers. Since then, every reapers is created after the image of the leviathans (the human reaper was just a core, it was going to get a squid-like outer shell)

Ah thank you, that has answered alot of questions. So did they want to create Reapers to keep their existence or did they have a hate towards other organics and didn't want them to grow technologically advanced as them?

I played Mass Effect 3 a couple of years ago by mistake, after that I realised it was such a good game, I only recently brought the Trilogy for PC I've mostly forgot about the story in ME3 but a few spoilers wouldn't hurt. Half way through ME3 now anyway.
