That's amazing. Never seen that angle. Brilliant. That's clearly the ritual she needs to take the OGB soul, which she does in the end, right?

I've always thought she simply took the soul effortlessly later in that cutscene. But yes, this probably was the preparation for it.

Although keeping in mind Morrigan's plea, it may well be the reverse - Mythal may actually have wanted to add herself to the OGB mix.

It must have required a good load of blood for this.

The question is whose blood it was...

Pretty standard blood magic markings.

1. The Ouroboros

ouroboros1.jpg

The ouroboros or uroboros (/jʊərɵˈbɒrəs/; /ɔːˈrɒbɔrəs/, from the Greek οὐροβόρος ὄφις tail-devouring snake) is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail.
The ouroboros often symbolizes self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things such as the phoenix which operate in cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. It can also represent the idea of primordial unity related to something existing in or persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished.
I still fail to grasp has for what the Ouroboros has to do with old gods, maybe just a design choice.

I saw those but had the notion that Kieran was doddling on the ground while Flemeth was perhaps doing something else. She doesn't strike me as one of those who need to combine markings and the casting of magic.

Those markings may also have nothing to do with them.

The markings are actually present in several places in the game (the ruin during Measuring the Veil is one of the places, there's others but I can't think of any off the top of my head).  It's possible they have significance, but it's just a possible that they're the game's standard 'creepy ruin' art asset.

True, but Kieran and Flemeth are standing right in the middle of it.

Maybe it's a map of the universe, with the ouroboros as it's driving force and the shapes representing places like Thedas or the Fade, or states of existence through which the pattern of consumption and creation flows.

You also have the statue of Dirthamen in the background with a sword in his back and bleeding a lot. No idea if he's related to what happened to Mythal but the "sinner" who took shape of the divine I assume elder gods belonged to him. *shrugs*

All i know there's a lot of blood, just like when you fight the nightmare demon (those bleeding skeleton statues) and we know that blood magic was involved then. So maybe Flemeth was performing a blood ritual to remove the Old God Soul.

It could Ouroboros as Aren says, But you could also say its Jörmungandr. Who will come out of the ocean and poison the skies, its a stretch but it could have something to do with the old god sould formally being an arch demon and relating to blights. It could just be Ouroboros.

Ouroboros..... Maybe Flemeth/Mythal is simply trying to make a Philosopher's Stone? No Elrics required.

That's true.  But I'm sure the devs said that the number of wolf statues everywhere shouldn't be read into because they were just art assests that the design team liked to use.  Maybe the same is true of the sigil?

If they do have a significance then I think it's for this scene and then the asset was used in other places.  Or maybe all the areas where the asset appear are connected?

Noticed those spirits leading you to them and what looks like them being absorbed once you get there.

So Flemeth is not done yet? And the whole plot twist is that there is no plot twist? Legends speaks truth - she was THAT women, she does take her daughter's bodies. The only thing they did reveal is her name, which is not such big suprprise (DA2 scene, Mythal's shrine).

What if there is no Kieran or if he's just a boy? What if Morrigan did not drink from the well in both cases? Anyone? My pt - Morrigan did drink and Kieran had soul of an Old God.

I ruined their plot twist,no OGB, archdemon completly destroyed and no well of sorrow for Morrigan....(poor inquisitor oh well my dwarf was thirsty)  :( and i'm still wonder as for why she is apparently supposed to be so relevant..not in my game...

I honestly don't know what's going on in the final relationships among:

1. Old God Soul (I think Kieran lost it and it transferred to Flemeth)
2. Solas (Dread Wolf). It was initially vague whether Dread Wolf absorbed Mythal or if Mythal absorbed Dread Wolf. If Dread Wolf venerated Mythal so much and considered her an idol to be avenged, why would he kill Flemeth and absorb Mythal? Why wouldn't Dread Wolf allow Mythal to continue as Flemeth? Or did something else happen?
3. Mythal. Does Mythal have the OGS from Kieran now?
