I apologize in advance if this comes across as a noob question. I've just began playing Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer with my friend. We came to the decision that we won't play Single Player until we know all the lore behind it since people says it'll make the game more interesting.

Carrying on then.

The crafting in Multiplayer is quite confusing to me tbh. I understand the crafting of classes, that's simple. The schematics themselves are whats the problem. I'm seeing you can use different materials to craft the weapon you so desire. Depending on the material you use, it will affect the stats of the weapon. The question is what weapon am I crafting. They separate them by One Hand, Staves, Daggers etc. But I can't seem to find a One-Handed Sword. Take for example a Tier 3 One-Handed Grip Schematic named "Balanced One-Handed Haft". When I click it to add the materials it shows in the primary slot (Staff Damage Type). That's what I don't get. I would experiment and find out myself but some materials are actually difficult to find in this mode so I rather get verification from you experts :P

Also, is it possible to gain different schematics throughout the game?

Other than that, I thank you in advance.

Crafting in MP is different to SP. You cannot craft weapons in MP and they can only be obtained by purchasing store chests or through treasure rooms and high dragons. What weapon you get is entirely down to your luck.

And no, you cannot acquire any new weapon upgrade schematics in any way. In case you are wondering, you cannot craft runes either in MP.

And of course as you have found out already, crafting lower tier armor for classes will unlock their higher tier armor schematics.

I wouldn't bother with weapon upgrade crafting early on - most of the weapons you'll have aren't worth the crafting materials, and the materials you do have should be saved for armor crafting. Also, don't use any form of cotton for any crafting until you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing with it. Rule of thumb: if your Prestige (Inquisition score) isn't 500 or more, don't use any cotton yet.

Actually I think certain lower tier crafting materials just seem to stop dropping for me. Not that I need t1 and t2 materials anyway.

I have overflowing materials that goes well over 255 each, but certain materials still remain in their 20s and 30s. And their amount haven't changed since, well, whenever I realised this.

I disagree to a certain extent.

Don't bother crafting with Tier 3 materials until you have very good weapons, but Tier 1 & 2 if fair play. You'll get more than enough Tier 1 & 2 material you won't know what to do with them anyway...

I never ever used Tier 1 cotton, even at the end because at some point you get a Heal on Kill ring or Tier 2 & 3 cotton materials. So I'd encourage you to use your Tier 1 cotton when needed since you'll need it more at the start than when you get farther into the game.

Since I went thru this just recently I could give a quick summary.

Weapons:

You can't craft any.  You get them thru chests in game or buy chests at the store with gold.  Save up gold to buy the 2000 gold chest.  It gives better chance of blue weapons.

Weapon Upgrades:

You can craft them, but at this point, you should only do it if you have a solid blue or purple weapon.  I would wait until you get a good one around level 16 or higher before you put weapon upgrades on them.   I would use bear skin (offensive) for crits chance and cotten (offensive) for heal on kill.  You are going to get more and more the T1 mats later so don't be afraid to use them up.   If you run out of cotton, make staff blades weapon ugrade with metals and then salvage the blade to get cloths.

Armors:

You should craft the T2 purple armors as soon as possible at least for 1 or 2 classes.  You could wait for the drakescale armors from the challenge but to do 6 promotions in T1 armors is not fun.  It is not that hard to get enough mats to craft T2 purple.  You need to first craft T2 blue.  Once you did that the option for T2 purple will show up.  It has the same names as T2 blue but with a (style choices) after the name.  Use the mats you have the most... like iron, ram skin, silk... etc...  mat type does not affect the armor.

Armor Upgrades:

You only get these from chests and you can't craft them.  Feel free to put them on your armors.  Try to save the level 20+ ones for purple armor.

Heh it took me like a month before I got a solid purple weapon that was like level 17 or something.   I was saving all the bear skins and cotton for the purple weapon.  And then when I got them...I already have tons of greater bear and T2/T3 cottons.   If I ever could turn back time... I would use them on solid blue weapon. ;)

I would check out both the Weapon Crafting link and Equipment document in my signature.

The weapon crafting link will give you an idea of what the better upgrades would be, once you have a weapon you want to invest in.

Use the equipment document to find out which materials of lower tier might suit your personal needs.

Heal on Kill is essential and greatly improves effectiveness. Critical Chance is also a great option.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT WASTE LUSTROUS COTTON or IMPERIAL VESTMENT COTTON. Wait till you have a Level 23+ weapon to use those.

IMPORTANT #2: Do not waste high level materials on armor crafting. Please use equipment doc to find out which materials you are cool with wasting. When crafting armor, each materials value doesn't matter. Using lower tier materials is the way to go.
