I'm not fond of reconciling Celene with Briala, either, for that very reason. Nothing has changed. Celene still cares about Briala? Yeah, we know. Briala's standing exists because the Inquisition recognizes her as a legitimate player, not because Celene has had a change of heart. Celene is still balancing on the tightrope of public approval. If public approval turns against Briala, Celene won't hesitate to push her under the bus.
No matter who the Inquisition supports, stability in Orlais may be temporary. If Celene rules alone, she will have a struggle ahead of her to regain the loyalty of her army. If she rules with Briala, she has that to contend with *and* the potential subversion of Orlesian elves (which may include Briala). If Gaspard rules alone, his propensity toward war will threaten Orlesian stability. If he becomes Briala's puppet, he has that to contend with *and* the potential subversion of Orlesian elves (which may include Briala). If the three form a political alliance, you have all of the above to contend with.
Hopefully, the move north means that we won't have to deal with southern Thedas no matter how it ends.
