I'm not fond of reconciling Celene with Briala, either, for that very reason. Nothing has changed. Celene still cares about Briala? Yeah, we know. Briala's standing exists because the Inquisition recognizes her as a legitimate player, not because Celene has had a change of heart. Celene is still balancing on the tightrope of public approval. If public approval turns against Briala, Celene won't hesitate to push her under the bus.

No matter who the Inquisition supports, stability in Orlais may be temporary. If Celene rules alone, she will have a struggle ahead of her to regain the loyalty of her army. If she rules with Briala, she has that to contend with *and* the potential subversion of Orlesian elves (which may include Briala). If Gaspard rules alone, his propensity toward war will threaten Orlesian stability. If he becomes Briala's puppet, he has that to contend with *and* the potential subversion of Orlesian elves (which may include Briala). If the three form a political alliance, you have all of the above to contend with.

Hopefully, the move north means that we won't have to deal with southern Thedas no matter how it ends.

They should have more timers =).

NOOOOO!!!!   :o

It's one of my favorite missions. You win this by paying attention to people and by investigating, rather than just slashing your way to the conclusion. I think it's also more popular than you might think.

I do like needing to listen and talk to people and I want to do more of that but the timer situation makes me feel like I can't do that as much as I'd like to do. So far I've gotten good at getting 100% approval with my humans, by listening and giving the right answers. I'll just be trying not to get kicked out of the place with my elf.  :P

Thing is, you don't have enough information in the mission to decide on reconciling Celene and Briala; you only get that if you read The Masked Empire. Even if you can't have so much info as in a book, I'd rather learned more about them via conversations than finding a locket in a room after wandering around looking for hallas to open it (I also despise the halla mission, especially the fact that, once again, it's impossible to know without a guide which doors you have to choose)

@robertmarilyn I did WEWH three times with three elves, and all of them I've managed to end with quite high approval (almost 100 in the last one) It's relatively easy to overcome the initial approval penalty for being an elf.

Oh Maker, those Halla doors.  I'm a completest in most games. Not being able to open all the doors, really drove me batty. My husband and I tried to use Cheat Engine. Long story short like most people we could not get it to work. Then someone crated a MOD to where you can open all those Halla doors. OMG. Best. MOD. EVER.

I don't really like the timers either, but they are essential in creating the mood of the place. Fortunately, there are almost no people to talk to in those timed areas, and I've learned to explore so that I don't lose a total of more than 10 points which are easily recovered.

Oh, and I ended up with 100 court approval with my current elf, as I stepped out into the ballroom to confront Florianne.

I must be the only person who liked Wicked Hearts.

I liked it too, but I'm a weirdo, I also liked the fade :)

What I really hated were the timers and the halla doors (or, better yet, how you can't open them all if you play vanilla). Hail to the modders

Love the mission, but hate the timers :P (though understand why it kinda exist)

Not being able to unlock all doors gave me an itch, but it does force me to sit down and think a moment which one that I would want to unlock the most.

My elf kinda hates it and felt like she has to slog her way through a sea of pit vipers, but as a player, I love the whole trying to win nobility approval and getting your hands on politics ;)
And my Lavellan lass won 100 court approval, from being that under dog that shot straight up to being the belle of the ball (plus i love the animation when the inquisitor first set foot in Halamshiral and meet Gaspard. To the rest of the nobles you're a nobody. But to the Inquisition men and women, you trully are their aspired leader, beloved Herald of Andraste and proudly serve under your command <3 it's amazing what my eyes catches over simple animation :D)
