It's not really apples and oranges, but I'm not going to get sucked into another pointless debate with a Loghain apologist.

lol!! Good.  And for your info, I like Solas too and I even understand why he's doing what he's doing.  Therefore I opt to save him rather than try to kill him. So I suppose I'm also a Solas apologist.  I just think you're full of it to conclude that players dislike Solas due to elven racism and not because he wants to euthanize everyone, your precious slave elves included.

If you read my post correctly, you'd see I was merely agreeing with Shiara Lavellan that racial kinship is part of the reason for this ends-justify-the-means cherry-picking hypocrisy among fans.

I don't see how you've managed to reach that conclusion.  Because their actions/reasons aren't even remotely the same.  And how do you know that the same fans who hate Solas agree with Loghain to add racial kinship as a factor in their opinions?

And while we're on the subject, racial kinship is a two way street. I assume that you accusing human players of defending Loghain and trashing Solas means that you, as a possible elven player, feel some sort of racial kinship to Solas. Considering the fact that Solas only wishes to save higher (most powerful) elves and kill all the other elves and/or endorse their future enslavement should they survive.  I have to wonder where did you get this idea of racial kinship with Solas from? If you have it.

Solas has no kinship to regular elves.  Period.  So I can see just as many elven players hating Solas as human ones.

You're evidently inclined to making false assumptions and then ranting about it; including my supposed "certainty" of Loghain/Solas fan hypocrisy (although I'm seeing it from you), and me potentially feeling some racial kinship (wtf?!) to Solas. Yeah, talking with people like you makes me think of something Sera said. "Some people can twist anything to fit anything."

So in other words, you have no proof to back up your assumptions.  That's all you had to say. No need to get testy about it.

Oh the irony.

I really hope this doesn't happen, and that the whole Solas thing is resolved in the next game. Having Trespasser end as it did only to not have it resolved for another whole game would be quite annoying. But I will offer some hope in that I don't think they would have come up with something this big without some end goal already in mind. Whether that end goal is feasible, or changes during development, is another matter entirely.

I agree, I hope it's resolved somehow and not just have Solas fade to the background as some manipulating baddy with spies everywhere just to stretch the series out.

He does? Is this for a particular dialogue option, or do you have to be non-friends with him to get this?

Yeah.  It's at max disapproval.  I think the scene is around the time you punch him in the face. He mocks the IQ saying something like "It must be the silly knife ear whining" or something along those lines.  I remember standing there dumbfounded because my human IQ never once called him a knife ear nor said anything remotely racist to him.  Most of the dislikes come from non elven related matters and the fade and you can even fight with him about why he isn't helping the elves. Yet he still thinks my IQ would call him a "knife ear" it was sort of odd.

Now, similar things have been suggested in the past, particularly with regard to players wanting the option to express their disgust over homosexuality -- I saw some who desired this option during Dorian's quest -- and the devs appeared to think that allowing the player to express this kind of vitriol was not necessary. You might then say that allowing the PC to make racist remarks over a fictional race of people is not the same as expressing disgust over homosexuality, a real thing, and you would be right, on the surface. But it does go along with a particular mindset, and I think that Bioware just doesn't want to "go there" in allowing these things.

I agree, but imo, I don't think the devs should allow anti gay dialogue because they've established that Thedas does not have a homophobic culture. Not for any irl reasons. If they did establish an anti gay culture, then I would be inclined to agree with those who wish to rp that.  But there is an elven/human racist culture that the devs should stop being sensitive over and injecting real life morality into and just let players rp that if they wish.  Hopefully, with Gaider gone, they will take a chance and do that.

As for Gay culture and Thedas, I am interested in seeing what they do with if they go to Tevinter.  They've established that the Vints aren't totally homophobic but they do have certain aspects of it embedded in their culture when it comes to the nobility.

Keep in mind another aspect: In-universe racism between elves and humans (and to a lesser extent other races) is a real thing in their cultures, whereas in-universe homophobia (beyond someone personally thinking "Ew") isn't a thing. It has basically been eliminated, because nothing created it in the first place.

So, without even saying what they should do, I can say that they could definitely have in-universe racism expressed in their games, while also not having homophobia be expressed, and it would make sense. Just like DA:O.

Edit:  'd by Hazegurl. Didn't read the second page before I posted. Oh well.

^ Good points both, and I did forget about that aspect of it.
