Hey,

I am doing my sec playthough as a KE with Tidarion on Nightmare with FF enabled. I know alot of peeps use the clean burn passive for KEs and going for firemine. KE feels still broken imho and I dont really want to make the playthrough even more of a cakewalk as it already is. Even with all but two Trials enabled.

I kinda like the Storm tree an so:

Any thoughts on Gathering Storm + Tidarion?

It seems like that even spiritblade proccs gathering storm not only the autoattacks.

Careful who you tell that to.  While I disagree with the nerfing of a single player class, (if it was a multiplayer thing I would be on board) I'm okay with how it ended up.

Spirit Blade is more strategic and it's easy to charge, so I'm okay with that.

Anyway, I get the feeling that Gathering Storm will be less effective since two-handed basic attacks are slower than a staff basic attack.  But Flashpoint may be more effective, since some Leathers grant +Critical Chance and Tidarion has 12 Leather.

But to be honest, the only real benefit I see is using Tidarion with someone who is NOT a Knight Enchanter, since Spirit Blade covers the melee attack aspect, so while it can look cool to be swinging TWO large swords around, it is ultimately redundant.

Of course, there is always the role-playing aspect, so if YOU think it fits your character to be a Knight-Enchanter swinging a two-handed blade with no actual blade, just magic, then you'll make it work.

Case in point, I still keep a Superb Cleansing Rune on my fire staff, even if I've already defeated all the Red Templars and such, simply because I think it looks cool.  I would likely get more damage from a Spirit Rune, but it doesn't "match" my character, so I don't use it.

Long story short, your idea may not be "optimized", but if you like it, then do it.

KE with Tildarion wouldn't be significantly different from a KE without one. The former is basically just the latter but without ranged autoattacks.

I agree, I think KE is best off with their spirit blade and ranged staff.

Are there any mage builds that have a necro or rift mage using Tildarion?

Tildarion doesn't have any benefits for rift mage at all.

The only benefit of Tildarion is that it has an AOE basic attack. Since rift mage restores 10% mana for each enemy hit, rift mages never run out of mana in AOE fights if using the sigil that doubles mana pool. Therefore, rift mages never needs to use the basic attack. The new upgrade to immolate removes the cooldown to this skill, allowing rift mages to spam it 5-6 times in a row, then use stonefist (weakening upgrade) to reapply weakening, then immolate another 5-6 times in a row.
