I was so excited when I found out I was able to buy the original bard songs album. But having now played through much of the game in French (and spent time idling in Halamshiral during my English playthroughs), I vehemently second the request for those versions of the songs (as well as all the new ones).
I agree! The French songs aren't just French versions of the English ones -- they're slightly different in instrumentation and approach. I remember just standing at The Winter Palace garden and being so knocked out by the French version of one of the songs (I think it was "Rise") -- and as I did so often at the Skyhold Tavern, I just stood there listening through whole songs. (My elf totally would have waved a lighter if she could have... or a torch... or candle... )
I thought of more, too -- I would also ask for:
- The a cappella bard song versions (some of them are really haunting)
- The original (ORIGINAL) version of "The Dawn Will Come"
(Also, did anyone else laugh out loud in "Trespasser" when Maryden starts to play "Sera Never" and we hear a thwang/crash then Sera looks smug and says, "Always hated that song" -- ? So funny.)
The music in this game -- from start to finish through DLCs -- has just been stunning. I'm a film music buff and the work on this (as with the writing and voice talent) is every bit as good to me as any great movie or TV score. (Trevor Morris's style on DAI actually reminds me a little of Murray Gold's beautiful work on "Doctor Who" during seasons 2-4 -- gorgeous melodies, surging strings, lots of innovative and unexpected intervals and powerful bass counterpoints.)
