Would you support a stand alone, online Mass Effect multiplayer game?

If BioWare released a standalone, always online co-op multiplayer Mass Effect game (very similar to Mass Effect 3's multiplayer), would you support it?

If the microtransactions are balanced like in ME3 sure as I didn't spend any real money in ME3 multiplayer and had a lot of fun with it.

Indeed. I never felt as if the microtransactions were ever at all intrusive. If you so chose to buy some equipment, so be it. Also, it's never felt like a tedious grind to obtain the credits needed to purchase equipment.

Do you have any thoughts on what kind? Or it does not matter, so long as there is more?

Used to resist Free to play and such on general principle, having experienced it now several times it doesn't really bother me all that much.

Would still ideally not have it though.

I'll be the first to admit that when they initially announced that Mass Effect 3 would have multiplayer, I was, for some reason, turned off. After playing it however, I came to the realization, that is was brilliant, fun and very addictive.

What further surprised me is how I ended up playing the co-op multiplayer, more than I did that actual campaign.

Actual co-op missions in addition to the already existing horde mode. If they could find a balance for pvp modes, those would be welcome as well. The horde mode itself is fine when it's tacked on to the single player game, but I woudn'the pay money for a game built solely around that one style of gameplay.

That's entirely understandable. I myself am not interested that much in PvP, but I could see how there could be an audience for it. If they did implement PvP, I'd hope they made it where you had to pick a particular faction to play as.

> Alliance

> Cerberus

> Geth

> Reapers

> Enemy gangs (such as Blood pack)

> Rouge Specter squads?

This way the battles would have, I think, a more realistic sense of purpose to them. Alliance vs Alliance would be somewhat unsettling, as it would literally make no sense.

Also, I think it would be cool if certain factions had items and gear exclusive to that faction. It would give players more incentive to switch up factions and various play styles.

That being said, we would then have to discuss map sizes, and max player counts.

Yes, as long as they are handled by a different team. Studios do it all the time with spin-offs, so I don't see why people are against it, if it's handled by a different team, then the SP game wouldn't be affected either ways by it, and it could allow people to have something to do while waiting for the next game.

As in a different internal BioWare team? Sure. :)

Why make it separately instead of just releasing Andromeda's multiplayer as F2P?

No I would not like a standalone MEMP.  It's success so far has been as a surprisingly involving extra to the main game.  Expanding in a standalone direction would threaten that success.  The way the leak suggests they're going is a much better idea.

Because if it's a separate game, they would have bigger budget, and both games wouldn't have stupid crossover contents or trophy that required you to play either Single or Multiplayer to get. Plus, if it releases between BW games, we have something to do while waiting for either ME or DA game to come out. Nothing said they couldn't include some of MP component from the standalone into the SP component.

This is most likely the current reality of the next Mass Effect multiplayer mode. However, I think a stand alone, always online multiplayer could possibly be more profitable for BioWare in the long run.

Just look at Halo 5's recent release information of making $500,000.00 from microtransactions alone, in only 1 week. I'd think something like that would be difficult to ignore.

Another game that comes to mind is the always online shooter: Destiny.

If BioWare created an online game that looked like Galaxy At War, and released annual expansions for it, they would have my full support, without question. Mainly because I think that the overall experience would be excellent.

While i can see the appeal of faction based pvp, the Citadel dlc introduced the battle arena. So Mass Effect straight up has a holodeck that they can use to justify anything. Which they should, in my opinion. Some of the best multiplayer games out there largely just disregard any sense of logic or reason in exchange for pure gameplay and fun. Games like Splatoon or Rocket League make little to no sense but it doesn't matter when you're playing and enjoying them.

Very true, and I do agree. However, for the Mass Effect loyalists out there, it would be nice for them to have something that adhered to the lore as well.

I'm glad this thread came up because out of the 1300 other andromeda threads mp hasn't been mentioned once.

I'm just gonna paste this into every new thread from now on.

If it was not developed by Bioware and it was another genre, yeah.
