On the PC version, and from what I've read online also in the console version, the information text and story text are too fast to read.  Any way these can be slowed down by editing a *.ini or config file on the PC version?

Maybe I was too vague above. The pop-ups describing what you pick up in the game disappear too fast. Anyone know how to slow these down so there is time to read them?

It is way to fast on the console. I am a slow reader so i had to start the game like twice so i could read the text at the beginning and then the pop up message that you are talking about i can never get a chance to read them.

Maybe you have a slower computer?  Or are one of those glance readers where you skip over prepositions.

What platform are you on?

Its also a little more pronounced if you are concentrating on something else and you start reading it a fraction of a second later.

You mean like when you find some Platinum and the like? I find them too slow, they take up a lot of screen space that I find annoying.

My problem isn't that the text goes to fast, it's that it's to small, I can't read planet descriptions and I can barely make out the emails.

Resources are pretty easy to read.  There are others that demand more attention.  The fact that the game spams you with achievements and other useless information doesn't help.  I often get 3 to 6 messages flashing across.  But space doesn't seem to be a problem on the pc with high enough resolution.  It takes up about 5% of my screen in the right hand corner.

What would be nice if they are going to spam, is to have something like dragon age's system where you can click on the list of items that stay up and get more info on items you're interested in.

Any progress on people learning how to edit the config files to change things like this?

I have had issues with this as well, because I'm Deaf. I also noticed that there was random battle banter and dialogue between my squadmates, and there were no subtitles being displayed.

This infuriated me greatly, because I was being cut out of an aspect of the game that would have upped the immersion factor for me.

Those boxes that pop up are usually something you can read elsewhere. Codex entries you can read by hitting Esc and clicking on the codex. Upgrades you can read on your Personal Console on the Normandy, or in the tech lab, and at the end of a mission. The end of a mission gives you a summary of all the Resources you collected. You can check journal updates by looking at your Journal. Really, everything has a place you can read it elsewhere.

Yeah, the intro text is insanely fast. Ridiculous.

Press the Prt Scr key on your keyboard when you see it appear on-screen, then leave the game, open Paint and paste it and read it. It's pathetic that we have to do that, but at least it works, that's what I had to do.

I found out why the intro text was going by so fast for me, it's my dual core. When I turned off 1 core it plays as normal, as well as make my load times cut in half.

Console version and the only text that is too fast is the intro stuff. Everything else is fine.

That's good information, thanks.  NWN2 also required turning off a core on some systems for optimum performance.  I'm a little surprised a 2010 game has issues with dual core though.  And I'll admit my load times for ME2 are brutal.

Absolutely.

I ran one short load test.

1. I first loaded the game to condition the computer.
2. I loaded again the same save: 17s
3. I set affinity to core0
4. I loaded a third time the same save: 17s

I'll try some more tests in different areas when I get more time to play and will update you on load times the text speed.

Thanks for the pointers.

So far, taking the elevator between levels of the ship seems to load much faster using only one core.
