With my last UUG game(that turned out Reapers/Dagger), playing as asari vanguard, I managed to reach level twenty with vanguard class again. And I promoted them again. Which resulted in sixtieth promotion overall, which means I finally got that fuggin N7 banner.

It was the single most soul crushing experience ever in this game and I am very happy that I never have to promote again.

The BotB banner is a nice addition, though a little of an afterthought, to be fair.

So yeah... I am now the Best of the Best... at least nominally. According to my N7HQ, it took me 586 hours, ten minutes and two seconds to get there. Or 1564 games. Could have been done sooner, if I didn't spent so much time slumming in Silver.

In that time, I could have:

  • learned a new language
  • mastered a musical instrument
  • trained myself to run half a marathon, at least
  • improved my drawing skills considerably
  • get a girlfriend(yeah, yeah, be realistic, I know :P)

Or many other things, where time would likely be spent more productively. I don't really regret the time spent playing... most of it was fun and I met some incredible people. But in retrospective... this victory seems a little hollow :)

The only thing left for me now is to max the manifest. Oh sure, I guess I could try soloing platinum... I'm confident I could do it. But I don't think I have the drive to do either. I think it's time to start focusing on real life instead and on the list the I put up there.

Here's to hoping I have enough will to do it.

Personally, I think all it takes is a lot of patience. Living one day at the time, doing one mission after another, this all soon ends. promoting each class ten times is not that bad.

What I did when trying to conquer all trophies and collect all gear was to disable sound, play a lot on silver and gold, and listen to audio-lectures, interviews, the news or audio-books while I played. So it was not time being wasted.

Unless you have a group that knows how to speedrun platinum - there are videos on youtube teaching how to do it - it´s actually faster to accumulate credits on gold.

Good luck with completing your arsenal. I find it the hardest part since the items are randomly generated. It took me more than an entire year to have the full inventory. The ultra rare weapons are a major pain to obtain. I recommend accumulating at least five million credits prior to go shopping for more items once you have all the uncommon and rare pieces.

Congrats dude, glad to have played my part helping you along the way - even if you did get me gangbanged by Phantoms and Dragoons that one time on Hydra with your level 1 TSol  :P

Promoting is/was the only grind I ever experienced in the whole game. I never worried too much about my manifest being maxed, which was just as well as it took me longer than anyone I know of.

Nah, don't do that to yourself, we all need some leisure to relax. Some watch TV, others play video games... Personally I play in the evening after the working day, so anyway I know that my brain would be too fried to learn a new language or to become a world expert in trigonometry lol.

Congratulations!

You finally got that banner - but remember, life is about the journey - not the destination.

You don't need a girlfriend you have Liara

Soloing Platinum is a a soul destroying exercise in tedium coupled with frustration at the BS thrown in.  It very nearly ruined this game for me.

Don't fixate on maxing your manifest just let it happen naturally.

Congratz OP...

I sympathize with the above....  myself, 3,400 hours played.

I could have become a doctor.

Don't judge time/life on a productivity/quality scale

Sure, I could have gone to the gym instead of sitting in front of the tube or getting a salad instead of a burger. Screw all that. So many real-life events lay claim to my time and so many people have expectations on how I should spend my life. I will do whatever I want with what precius little I have to myself.

Who knows, maybe one day I want to run a marathon... after I've done the dishes, mowed the lawn, payed the bills and maxed my UR's  ^_^
