Okay. I'm sure someone here already posted a thread like this, but has anyone else been getting into missions where one minute, you signed up for Silver/Gold, then the second Wave 1 starts, it's on ****** PLATINUM??
Like, I'm cool with going Platinum at certain points, but not when I don't have the best weapons/mods/character levels/equipment quantity/etc., then have no choice but to TRY to kill 3 Praetoan, 4 Scions, and a dozen Collector Captains with only a Crusader and 2 rockets.
Seriously, guys. Keep a look out for these people....and if you're actually one of them, well I hope someone throws your controller/mouse into a thresher maw's mouth, coz that ain't cool. |:/
(Atleast three users have done this on PSN and one user in particular has been doing it so often, I memorized their PSN handle and the first time they fucked us over like a drell in solipsism....yes, I know that's alot of ME refs, but geez. Come on.)

That's why I stated in another thread, that there should be some type of match-making system in ME:A.
People shouldn't have the ability to jump into a gold or platinum game, when they can't even handle the lower difficulties or are brand new, so they can leech off of more experienced players simply because they want to.

It's called the "Stealth Difficulty Switch," and yes, it's kind of obnoxious. I've been known to quit out of games when I realize the host stealth-switched.
That having been said, the onus is technically on the non-host to look over the settings and make sure they're okay with them. If you've readied up, and at any point you find yourself unreadied without having input anything, then the mission settings were changed. Make sure to look them over before readying again.

Pug games are troll games. To avoid this i always use characters that are adaptable to difficulty spikes. But i use shadow alot, and when people do this they are unaware that Shadow is utterly useless on platinum >.>
I quit the match if i'm unprepared and send a message to the host telling them how it peeves me off...

That's an entirely opposite issue to this one, but aye. As much as I want to help other players level up, it concerns me off that they try to go SO SOON to Silver when they haven't even promoted their characters or have better weapons. I lose Medi Gel getting killed off after a successful teammate revive.

Papyrus is right-o. I enjoy the N7 Shadow as well and this dude changed the settings while I chose that character. Christ...

I agree OP, those types of hosts who switch silver/gold games to Plat are jerks.....
Which is why I'm always certain that the lobby is set to Bronze before ninjaing it to Plat. After all, they probably need the credits, and watching the little Bronze pugs run headlong into Banshee hug after hug never gets old.

That sounds quite funny, But knowing pugs they probably will just wait for you to clutch and then leech all of the XP and credits when you die/win with no thanks.

A host once ninja-switched the difficulty from plat to bronze as soon as I joined and let me assure you, I topscored with my reegar AIU then carved another notch in the barrel of my reegar for a job well done

you seem to be sure that people only do this because they are mean or want to make you look bad or something.
I can only speak from my experience and it happens often that I start with a silver game because I test a weapon / character or do a challenge and stuff.
Then I switch to gold or platinum for the next game and still those typical silver clientele keeps coming to my lobby.
I've gotten pretty sure now that the "Mass Effect Match Making" keeps my lobby still registered as silver.
Those people sometimes don't realize then that its gold. But is that MY fault ??
Didn't it ever happen to you that you searched for (let's say) Geth and then you landed in an "unknown" lobby ?
Then you leave and land AGAIN in this lobby - which means that the reason was not that he had JUST switched.
The reason is that the Match Making seems to maintain somehow the original settings for a pretty long time. Dunno why.
Aside from all of that:
Even if the matchmaking worked correctly and the Host just switches from silver to gold (because he now uses his favourite kit or something)
is that a crime ? It is his lobby after all and your green "ready" should switch to "not ready" then anyway.

What Caustic said. Any change in game settings will unready everyone in the lobby so you've got plenty of time to leave if you no longer like it.
But I actually only came here to suggest an improvement for the rhyme in your sig, OP. Id' go with:
♪ Jingle bells, Shepard smells, Garrus laid an egg

Anyway, there was one guy left and the others were down and everyone was yelling at me to missile launch extraction.
After overdosing on ops packs and thermal clips I finally figured out the 'blow the sh*t out of everything' button.
I took the money and quickly hauled my little ass from the lobby. (As a hero!!).
