No points put into fitness for my adept, all offensive upgrade on skill branches. Insert Javik with armor for bonus recharge times and watch us repeatedly detonate the whole damn battlefield. Pull + Throw, Pull + Slam, Dark Channel + Warp, Dark Channel + Shockwave, Singularity + Dark Channel, Pull + Warp... it's just pick and pop all day on biotic dets.
And he's an *******/badass idgaf Prothean who has great dialogues during missions? Pft, sold.
Javik as a squad mate is amazing. I did my last run with him for the majority, and he is hilarious, and as you say, a very good team mate for a biotic Shepard (I was also an Adept). I brought James along for that run too, and I highly recommend it, the two have some really great banter 
I mostly used Javik for Pull and I used Throw or Warp to detonate it. Even though Liara's Singularity can have a faster cooldown than Pull I believe, she's more boring to listen to imo.
Javik and Tali have some great banter on the geth dreadnought.
Side note: if you ever want to make Liara more interesting, bring Ashley along as they tend to clash in mild, but funny ways. I especially like when Ashley is chiding Liara about how obvious it is that the goddess athame is a prothean while Liara back peddles.
Liara+Javik+Biotic Shepard = I win
