What Happens to Solas Romance if You Had Drunk from the Well?

How do you get Solas's romance dialogue option if you had drunk from the Well of Sorrows? seems like the chances to romance him will be gone once you drank from the Well cause when I loaded a savepoint before What Pride Hath Wrought, I was able to see his romance dialogue

Also what happens if you had romanced him before What Pride Hath Wrought and drank from the Well. Will you not be in a relationship with him anymore after that?

His last romance scene triggers after What Pride Had Wrought. Drinking from the Well has no bearing on the romance.

It doesn't affect either your romance or your friendship.    He will get very agitated with you and claim he told you not to drink (PW claims the actual dialogue line where he does this was omitted by mistake).    What occurs after the Temple of Mythal with Solas is inevitable; what you do has no bearing on it whatsoever.   It's just more gut wrenching if you are in a romance with him.

This is just a mini rant with no bearing on the actual topic... but I think these types of bugs or problems are the most annoying. Here is an omitted line of dialogue that has a story impact. So the devs made a mistake and the line was never put in. OK, that's fine, that sort of thing happens. But I'd really like to know if they made an effort to fix it so the scene plays out as it should. I know they tried to fix as many of the actual problems before all work on the game ended, and this isn't game-breaking or anything, but it is rather frustrating, particularly for a story-based game where a line like this is meaningful.

In relation to the mini rant (just in case a Dev should read this) I do find it hard to understand why the omission didn't show up when the writer was actually playing through the game to make sure all lines of dialogue did work.    So the moment Solas says "I told you not to", even if they hadn't picked up on it before, they would suddenly realise, no he didn't.    Plus even if the writer didn't realise, then what about the other testers?     Still, it's all water under the bridge now, hopefully they will have learnt from the various complaints and ensure it doesn't happen in DA4.

Well, I think most of that comes from ignorance as to how the devs go about testing the game. This particular scene aside, you have to consider how many iterations there are during any given cinematic, which can only be even partly understood if you sit and look at all of the options in succession, as I've done on several occasions. There are the various options the player gets, then the NPC responses to each of those. Some of those NPC responses change based on who your PC is (race, class, origin), your relationship with them, or even based on previous events in the game; some responses, and further player options, alter based on your choice earlier in the conversation. So there are a lot of variables.

And while I would like to think that the devs, particularly those that are involved with writing individual characters, would sit down and go through everything related to their character to make sure it's all working correctly, I can see how something like that may be lost amongst all of the other myriad things. Solas was written by Patrick Weekes, who also wrote The Iron Bull (another romance option), and Cole, in addition to any of the other miscellaneous characters -- perhaps those that carried over from the The Masked Empire -- and various assigned story quests and plots. And then of course after they test a lot of their own content, they just become extra bodies to test various other parts of the game that don't have to do with writing at all.

So I can understand all that. But as I said, it would have been nice to see a fix for something plot related via a patch once it was known. Ah well.

At any rate, sorry for the digression.

As already mentioned, drinking from the well has no bearing on the romance accept him disapproving, which is strange considering how he objects having Morrigan do it. It's further strange how he later says "I begged you not to drink from the well" when he didn't even protest the Inquisitor doing it... at all.

Drinking from the Well does not affect Trespasser either so far as character interactions and romances are concerned.   It does make a difference in one specific place in the plot.
