Racism exists, but I seriously doubt that would be the dominant reaction. At best you'd get a few shrill knucke-draggers come out of the woodwork, but I doubt that they'd be anything like a majority.

 

After all Andromeda would hardly be the first game to use a black protagonist voiced by a black actor. The Walking Dead didn't get the reaction you describe.

 

On that note I'd love to see Dave Fennoy get a major role in a Mass Effect game. He is one of the best voice actors in the business.

He actually has done voice work in a Mass Effect game. Andronikos Revel was voiced by Steve Blum. You may know him as Urdnot Grunt.

Firstly- that guy playing yet another major role will be very immersion-breaking, because he's present in every new BW game. Secondly- personally, I loathe his characters (Vega, IB), so playing as protagonist voiced by him will be doubly painful and difficult. At least for me. Thirdly- He fits well into ,,beefy'' characters. As far as I can see from the concept art, Ryder won't be someone like that.

I'd love to see to him return. He has a lot of range and could get away with playing another character in the Mass Effect universe. He might be a good choice for a Turian character.

Freeman is God, we are not worthy to have his voice used so flagrantly.

 

Also, he transcended the mortal coil, and needles to say petty things like race or skin color.
