Can anyone help please and tell me how to get this bloody door open?  I've watched some youtube videos but I can't work out what to do - any chance someone could give me some bullet points please?

(What is it with all the bloody puzzles in this dlc??  I hate puzzles!!)

Just hit the switches till it opens. Worked for me.

That's what I did. I'm sure I could have put more finesse in getting it right but I just hit switches until I got it right. "I'm a FIGHTER, not a THINKER!"  :P

You need to manipulate the switches until all three of the lock bars are not constraining the vault door.

Umm, yeah ... Do the right switch until the right-side bar is out of the way. Then the left switch until the left bar is out of the way (because the left switch doesn't move the right-side bar). Finally, use the middle switch to move the middle bar out of the way (because the middle switch doesn't move either the right or left bar).

If I remember it right, there are three wheels to turn, from left, - A, B, C.  A control the top and left bar, B, the top, C, the right and left bars.

The thing about C is that the withdrawal of both bars are unequal, the right bar will completely clear the door but not the left bar. So you have to use B to match the distance of the top bar to the left bar. If the left bar is just at the edge of the door, then the top bar has to be the same. Then use A to move both out of the way.

If I recall correctly..  You start with the right wheel, then the left and then the right.

Watch the bars on the door. There is one switch that moves only one bar and one that moves 2 of them. So you need to move the single bar until it's at the same lenght as the other bars so when you use the one who moves both they will both get out of the way.

It does not take very long, just a few tries. Watch the door carefully and you'll get the pattern!

Yep, right, left, Center and, pay attention. It's easy and, I havte puzzles too. I don't do the astriums or, the mythal rituals for that reason. Even with pictures it took me FOUR HOURS the one time I did the mythal rituals.

I like the astrarium puzzles. *ducks* I sort of put myself into a 'trance' with the more difficult ones, looking in / out. The Mythal puzzles, the one with the gate got me stumped. I looked for the solution in YT. The same with the Trespasser puzzles with the veilfires; the five statues, how to get that Dalish mark to light up and the hidden staircase.

I'm a nerd and love puzzles.  The key is that two of the wheels control two of the rods, and at unequal measures.  So once you get them to where they are both kind of off of the lock, move onto another wheel, which you can then manipulate to move the remaining rods out of the way..

And if that doesn't work there is always alcohol.

It's a lot like the torch puzzle with the dragon: Start with the wheel that moves the most things, then move on to the wheel that moves fewer things, and then the wheel that moves only one. At least with this one, you don't have random qunari spawning on top of you or a dragon with a death wish that you have to keep alive.

(Last playthrough, the darned dragon died on me despite my attempts to micromanage my team. I'm still salty about it.)

I either let them do their thing or tell them to disengage while I take care of the wheels and then open the gate. Nothing more amusing than an unconscious companion telling you the dragon is heading for the exit.

Yeah, that's what I did on my first two times through the DLC, but this time, everybody was equipped with weapons that did entirely too much damage. The dragon's health is pretty low, and all it took was a few oopses for the health bar to drop to nothing. I was only halfway to the cart when the cutscene with Viddasala (or however you spell it) started.

I'm kind of confused by the talk of multiple wheels to turn, I've only had to turn one wheel to get the flames in the correct position to release the dragon. Is there a difference with difficulty levels?

No, but it may depend on whether you found the right one on the first try or whether you fiddled with all of them and have to undo whatever you screwed up while you were experimenting. Said the woman who takes years to solve a Rubik's Cube.

Don't you have to move at least 2 of them? The far right one turns all 3 rings (I think) but it gets stuck on the pile of barrels you need to explode with the mark. I didn't think the rings were lined up with each other enough to only be able to move that one to free the dragon?

If you first blow up the cart and barrels the one wheel will line up all the flames correctly. I never even saw the other wheels, I guess I was lucky to only see the one wheel that worked for all of them on my first try. Sometimes missing things can be advantageous. :)
