Bregan's Bow disappears from inventory, Dalish Elf origin

Noticed something odd.

 

Playing Dalish Elf origin, I can equip Bregan's Bow just about right away (since I have boosted stats from other promo items and items earned from expansions). But if I have it equipped or in my inventory, do a save, and load reload that save... it disappears from my inventory and is not equipped. It vanishes. Even if I don't, and let the mirror segment play out... when I awake at the camp, my character will have the quiver of arrows but no bow equipped, and again, no Bregan's in my inventory.

 

What the...?

Aaaaand it's happened again. It seems Bregan's Bow vanishes from existence if you save during Dalish Elf origin, then load that save. POOF Bregan's bow is gone from the world. What the heck?

 

I've tried saving, going ack to menu, disabling bregans bow dlc, loading that save (force load), saving again, going back to menu, re-enable bregans, loading save... Still no Bregans. The game is acting like I sold it.

 

I have played Mage and Human Noble and this has never happened. It's only happened, so far, with Dalish. And it happens whether I USE Bregans or not.

I've saved in the Dalish origin before. Seems to work for me. Bregan's Bow continued to be there well into the game. Not sure what the problem is.

I'm having a similar problem with the Vigilance sword in Awakening.  Do you have any mods installed perchance?

I was just browsing Nexus and noticed that this mod can/has caused that problem for some people.

I was just browsing Nexus and noticed that this mod can/has caused that problem for some people.

I looked at the UTI files included in that mod recently, and found that several of them (including Bregan's Bow) had an internal... *gropes for word*... disconnect, where two data strings that should be identical were not, one being incorrectly truncated.

 

Opening the affected files in a GFF editor and fixing the broken field (i.e. correcting the truncated 'TemplateResRef' field to match the complete 'Tag' field) should fix the issue.

Yeah, the toolset truncates strings when it opens a foreign uti (and probably any other gff). So you open a file, change the rune_enabled flag to 1, save, and... break the thing completely.
