I am sure that many of you played the demo.

I did not, unfortunately.

is this game recommendable to "the classic ME fan" as stopgap until Andromeda?

or maybe even more?

I'm not sure. I mean, it's really different from ME3. Just the fact that it's a PVP makes it completely different.

I still had a hell of a time playing the demo, though.

I'd say if you're anything close to a Star Wars fan, give it a try.

My plan is to play it as a stop gap. It is just Battlefield reskined to a point, but I enjoyed the limited time with the demo, and there are a load more game modes, heros, weapons, star cards, and other things in the complete release. I'm hoping it'll keep me occupied for a long time, but we'll see. So far, ME3MP was the only thing to really do that for me...

You don't only have to look for ME3mp clones or only online games. It can be something entirely different. As long as it provides a great time and great replay, then you're all set.

And holding your breath for ME:A? Really? I wouldn't. That's a big setup for a low blow. So instead take it day by day as if ME:A don't exist until it does. Lots of other great games out there. Just a matter of finding them, then a matter of putting in the time until you get into them...

Yep.

If you're one of those people who are hardcore anti PvP, Battlefront is probably not for you. There is a co op mode but it was kinda underwhelming in the beta. Granted we only had 6 waves out of 15 and on the easiest difficulty but I still don't think co op will have all that much retention for players. Play it a few times, ditch it for the PvP modes.

If you like PvP or at the very least don't mind giving it a try, I'd say get Battlefront. Especially if you're a SW fan. The game is very casual and easy to learn to the point everyone can pick it up and have fun even without previous experience in PvP shooters. Weapon handling, AT-ATs, AT-STs and the air vehicles are all easy to learn.

There were some major balance and spawn issues in the beta but hey, it's a beta, that's why it's there.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a ME clone, Battlefront is not for you. If you're looking for a game where you can hop into a round, shoot some people and have a good time in a casual environment or are a huge SW fan, then definitely get Battlefront.

I personally will be buying it. No pre order or "deluxe" edition or other stupid **** like that, but I'll definitely get it. Probably towards the weekend.

Damn. I had lots of fun playing with you in the beta, but I'm afraid I won't be joining anytime soon. Not enough time nor money. Maybe in a few months :)

true!

But I have never had so much fun with any other game and the chances I'd like other similar games
are just very big.

Also, I have recently bought other games (Pillars of Eternity, Heroes of Might and Magic 7, Dark Souls 2, etc.)
and none of these came nearly as close.

Alll these are good games without doubt.  But I am looking for a coop MP which is as compelling as ME3 MP.

Likewise.  :)

Maybe by the time you join in they'd have fixed the join a friend system so it doesn't throw us into opposite teams.  <_<

experimenting with builds and weapons has been a huge aspect for me in ME3.

Do you know what part this plays in Battlefront ?

I haven't played it but I guess it's a very different beast because of it's PvP nature and from what I've seen it's pretty much a shooter with not the powers like in ME3.

Ultimately, Battlefront is primarily designed as a PvP shooter game, and therefore not really all that comparable to ME3. It's a very user friendly PvP game in terms of mechanics, but it is still competitive nonetheless. There is a Co-Op horde mode, but Shady elucidated what are essentially my thoughts on why it really isn't the same.

If you're one of those people who are hardcore anti PvP, Battlefront is probably not for you. There is a co op mode but it was kinda underwhelming in the beta. likewise, I don't expect it to have much draw. I thought if fun (if far too easy), but it is only a 2 player mode AFAIK and doesn't have the same sort of draw as a Co-Op experience as a game like ME3, with its vast system of interactive powers and synergeitc, complimentary playstyles can attain at its best.

I expect that the horde mode will be much like it's predecessor in DICE's Battlefield 3's 2 player Co-Op. Though I thought it enjoyable, people by and large played that mode only once, mostly for the weapons and achievements exclusive to it, then dropped it for the primary competitive multiplayer mode.

I haven't played it but I guess it's a very different beast because of it's PvP nature and from what I've seen it's pretty much a shooter with not the powers like in ME3.

The 3 customizable abilites you get are sort of like ME's "powers", in the sense that they are unlimited use but have cooldowns.

Obligatory ;)

The opinions from my friends who play it is that it's very enjoyable. But pvp is very different. One of them rage quit because she got sniped from across the map XD

I'm a big Star wars fan so I intend to play a lot of it until Dec 17th, regardless of how good it is ;) Plus, I just want to make clip after clip of becoming Vader on the battlefield and wrecking all the things.

Lots of games incorporate "powers" or "abilities" - yet I have to see a game that employs powers as Mass Effect does. The most iconic being the "arced projectile" power and their interactions with each other.

Pressing a number key for a different gun mode to fire or throw a grenade is not what I'd qualify as power use. The "heroes" in Battlefront look more like power users, but they're not bread n butter gameplay?

Player mobility took an interesting turn, though.

Battlefront beta was pretty fun,but I doubt I'll be buying it any time soon.I'm having more fun with Fallout 4,which is weird because I've never really liked the Fallout games.

It's not lore friendly at all. Stormtroopers have perfect accuracy. BS, 0/10 would not father again.

Hehe, hopefully. Although I didn't mind playing against you either, it was a good occasion to learn. Also enjoyed meleeing your sorry ass in a couple of occasions

But yeah, the novelty would have worn off pretty quickly if that went on all the time.

Well, based on the beta, I think there is going to be a bit of an aspect of the game about that. I'm sure you can google how cards and all that work, but there were some choices that had to be made and they deeply influenced the way you'd play. However, choices were extremely limited. I'm sure the full game will have many more possibilities, but something tells me it will never be as diversified as ME3. It's just not the main focus of the game,

Obligatory ;)

Makes up for all those 360 noscope Cycler rifle dunks.  :P

Seriously though, I played the beta with 5 people and had the matchmaking drop both of us into the same team only once. And it was on Walker Assault. As rebels. We got rekt.  <_<  I just stuck to pugging after that.

Hehe, you did get me with that rifle more times than I care to remember, yeah XD

But that sucks. No doubt it'll be fixed soon though, right?

There is a thermal imploder though. I once managed to kill 5 people with just one of those. It wasn't as glorious as the High Lord, but still pretty glorious ;)
