EA has said that they have no interest in releasing an HD trilogy remaster for current generation consoles. So I was wondering if there any was new information when on backwards compatibility for Mass Effect 2 & 3, would be available for the Xbox One?

It needs to happen, don't know why they only have ME 1 available for backwards compatibility.  Was playing ME 2 yesterday on my 360 when it froze.  The 360 was always notorious for it's lack of reliability when it came to it's health.  The sooner I can play the entire trilogy on xbox one the more comfortable I will feel.  There was no excuse for microsoft not having backwards compatibility on it's console back when they released it.

Apparently the issue is that both games have multiple discs, and are more difficult to emulate. :?

They are still figuring out how to do multi-disc games last I heard. It will probably happen, but likely not for a while.

Can't they still make them available for purchase for digital download in the meantime?

As I understand it they want to cover all  games eventually and given ME1 was one of the first in the batch it would be stupid to not cover the other 2 as well. I think it'#s just a matter of time and being patient but it will happen eventually.

Why not just give away digital copies to anyone who can provide proof of purchase for the disc versions? They're older games, can't be selling that well anymore. I doubt it would hurt EA's bottom line that badly.

Unforutunatly, Mass Effect 2 & 3 were never available for digital download for the Xbox 360.

This is what I'd like to now as well. I find it interesting that both ME2/3 currently can't be downloaded digitally to the Xbox 360.

However, both games, and in fact the entirely trilogy can be downloaded to the PS3.

I think the PS3's Bluray architecture allowed for a more seamless digital transition, vs the Xbox 360's multiple DVDs to digital, which is much more difficult.

yeah I think the fact that the 360's game is on DVDcompared with PS3 being Bluray may be part of it but then havging said that the PC copies are also on VD but are also available for download so it's tricky to know for suer I think.

Add to that the fact that DLCs are also not included with ME1 on the X1 and I see no reason to want to play it on anything but the 360 just yet.

To be completely honest, my main target is the multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3.

Microsoft has confirmed that you can play online multiplayer with 360 owners. Finding a match, was never entirely difficult, but I think it would be much more faster and seamless in comparison.

Yes they are. They just weren't available for the beta players for a few months. They are available now.

Is that true? Man if it is I know what I'm playing once I'm done with Lara! :)

Backwards compatibilty of all three would've been awesome. I just made the jump to next gen, and would've probably gone for Xbox if they had done all the ME games. But with the EA thing it was clearly never going to be possible (if they ever allow it it will be on their monthlt subscription EA Access thing) so PS4 it is.

Can't see much point in sorting out ME1 for next gen when I'm still going to need my 360 on hand to play its sequels straight after

After I finish Fallout 4, then Fallout 3, then Tomb Raider, then I'm going to start Mass Effect 1 on my XB1. And I see myself playing these games for a solid 2 months. Then of course, Deus Ex comes out, I believe Mirror's Edge does too, AND Quantum Break. So it's unlikely I'll even be playing ME1 for the next 3-4 months. But I would play through the entire series right now IF they release ME2 and ME3 for backwards comp.

All is needed is for BioWare/EA to patch out the disk checks for new standalone digital copies of ME2 & ME3: As x360 discs are not used for installation on XBO; only disc 1 need be in the tray for verification purposes (no disk change required).

List of 104 titles that now have backward compatibility using the XB1. Further backward compatible games will be announced .

By Brett Howse

Today the New Xbox One Experience began rolling out, and with it comes a big change in not only the look and feel of the Xbox One’s Dashboard, but it also brings Windows 10 to Microsoft’s gaming console. The new update brings about a big shift in the user interface, as well as some very anticipated features.

Has anyone out here using the XB1 noticed anything new?

I wish I had not lent my ME1 360 game to my nieces hubby, I want to give it a whirl on the xbox one but alas the game is about 2 hours away driving time.

I want it to happen, my 360 broke down a couple of months ago and these two games becoming backwards compatible would be the only way for me to play the trilogy again.

If you want ME 2 and 3 to be next up for backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, vote here!  Currently ME3 is number 12 on the list, but the more votes means the sooner it will come out!

I read through this topic, and I saw it asked several times, but I did not see it answered (I apologize if it was, and I missed it). The reason they have already added ME1 & not necessarily 2 & 3 is that ME1 was published by Microsoft on the 360. For all intents and purposes, the original standalone release of ME1 on Xbox 360 was a first party game. So regardless of the multi-disc issue, Microsoft were able to flip the switch on that version.

Microsoft know that people want these games since there on the first page of the voting list but as someone else said because there multidisc is the reason there not availible yet.

DAO and DA2 will not have this problem since there only one disc
