I read through this topic, and I saw it asked several times, but I did not see it answered (I apologize if it was, and I missed it). The reason they have already added ME1 & not necessarily 2 & 3 is that ME1 was published by Microsoft on the 360. For all intents and purposes, the original standalone release of ME1 on Xbox 360 was a first party game. So regardless of the multi-disc issue, Microsoft were able to flip the switch on that version.

Well that is interesting. In addition if we take a quick look at that first link posted by Sartoz (http://majornelson.c...-now-available/) notice how there doesn't seem to be a single EA game on the list?

What up EA?

Ugh... this (potentially) sucks.

Am I the only one here reading that we may need to subscribe to EA Access in order to be able to play X360 EA games on the X1?

And there lies one of my biggest gripes about consoles "subscription". They got you by the short and curlies.

If so, the backlash will be severe.

If it comes with all, ALL the DLC. Then yes.

Ah. Forgot about the multi disc thing. That probably is a ***** to address. Solution? Shoot the games through games with gold next month. But for everyone, not just gold members (he he, gold members). I'd say do it free, but that's not happening. $10 each maybe and discount all the dlc too for those that never got it

Can't they still make them available for purchase for digital download in the meantime?

The two issues are hand in hand.  The multi-disc issue is why you can't get it digitally on Xbox Live

It won't COME with all the DLC.  Any DLC you purchased is going to be available to you.  You already bought it, so you'll be able to play it.

You won't.  I can't play Mass Effect 1 via backward compatibility without EA Access.

1) Mass Effect 1 is an EA game.  AND BEFORE YOU SAY IT, Microsoft does not have publishing rights anymore.  When BioWare was purchased by EA back in 2008/9, those when with them.

2) Also during the 2015 EA conference, EA was listed as one of the developers supporting backward compatibility.

3) Look harder.  Mirror's Edge is BC and is an EA game.

OK so I missed a few. 3 to be exact, out of a list of what? 100? EA is mostly absent here... something is up!

I'm so glad I stumbled on this thread. I was thinking of getting an Xbox one JUST for my ME games (though I do have other games for the Xbox, but none that make me want an X1 to play them). Knowing there's no backwards compatibility for ME2/3 has determined my decision.

Not true. Or perhaps, not entirely true. I don't have EA access and ME1 works fine for me. I got a digital copy though. Is the problem concerning hard copies, perhaps?

I have the platinum version of the game, so my Bring down the Sky is on disc. Anyone knows if I can play it?

Microsoft know that people want these games since there on the first page of the voting list but as someone else said because there multidisc is the reason there not availible yet.

DAO and DA2 will not have this problem since there only one disc

And yet neither are available yet.

Shame.

Fallout 3 was dropped in because it was being offered in a bundle with FO4, Dungeon Siege 3 is Games for Gold. A lot of them were dropped in either because they had connections to Microsoft Studio and it was easier to get the deal done (ME, Fable 2 come to mind).

I can't see any way they can force EA access since Mircosoft has said back compatibility will be free, and it's from the first 100 games.

I'm running ME1 on Xbox 1 with my DLC without EA access.

And I note a lot of these are Rare games, which were already being redone so I guess it would be easy to get the details for backward compatibility.

This topic is very timely for me.

I was actually debating the merits of purchasing a new 360 console solely to keep my Mass Effect trilogy playable through the next decade. I assume they will eventually get the full trilogy working on XBox One, but I wasn't sure how the DLC would work. So much of the trilogy's critical content was DLC, in my opinion, that I'd not play without it. Hearing that the DLC functions properly is huge. I'd much rather move forward with an XB1 than invest in another 360. (Still would've preferred a remastered release on my PS4. :/ )

Then, I read about this EA Access BS. I've invested hundreds of dollars into Mass Effect since 2007, between Collector's Editions and DLC. It's been worth every penny, considering the hours I've spent playing and the joy it's brought me. Now, though, EA wants to charge me an additional $29.99 per year to play the series I've owned for years? No F-ing Way! That's complete BS!

I hope this crap falls flat on its face in the concept phase. Their greed truly knows no bounds.

The outcome of this, will determine if I end up purchasing an Xbox One. There is nothing else (besides the current Mass Effect 1) that I am interested in. I have completely come with the terms of never gaming on a PC (after recently trying the keyboard and mouse with the Mass Effect 2 demo). It is just will something that I will never play games on. Well, that is, unless, Mass Effect Andromeda has native controller support. I would purchase a PC with an i7 processor, the best Nvidia card money can buy and 32GBs ram if that became a reality.

Are you reading this BioWare?

It's only been 10 days guys. Microsoft clearly need time to hammer out licencing agreements with EA over a vast amount of titles. Mass Effect 3 has been in and around the top 10 for months so it should be high on the priority list. Perhaps EA might want to do giveaways for digital Andromeda pre-orders.

If you can afford a decent gaming PC then don't bother. Although if you also want a console in your living room for media/streaming, non-pc games, playing with friends and as a blu ray player it's better than ps4 as a second platform imo. I love playing RPGs on it so I can watch tv/movies/internet streams in a side window while i'm doing repetitive side missions/grinding/exploring in Fallout 4 for example and streaming to a tablet when the tv is in use all for the cost of a down-payment on a GTX titan.

There are unofficial controller mods that exist. But that is just the thing, they are unofficial. Some of the buttons have to be pressed multiple times to register, and it still doesn't eliminate the skills layout in the top left of the screen. Also, while I would appreciate the added performance, I do not need an ultra high frame rate to enjoy Mass Effect, I never have. I do however, need a controller, and there is no exception there.
