Tried it on my lego, after finally getting it from the last victory chests a while back.  What a shi**y weapon.  Back to the Bitter Axe I go.

Yah the elemental weapons are terrible! It turns all your damage, even shield bash etc, into whichever element. This would be cool except certain things are resistant to certain elements, making them worthless against those enemies.


In addition, they have lower base damage.

Bitter axe is amazing and probably my favorite one hander pre-Hakkon

Yeah I love Bitter axe.  Explosion from Shield Bash is probably the best satisfactory group kill for me.   The worst thing about Rime is that it is listed as the first item on my weapon list because it is level 27.  I am looking at it every single time I open up the weapon screen.

 

I haven't use it yet.  It if it was the fire one, I would have try it against frost dragon just for fun.   They should have made the elemental swords with protection aura against the other elements.  Fire sword protects you and party members within 8 meters against cold damages.  Frost sword against Fire damage.  And Storm sword against spirit!

Yeah, elemental swords were a real missed opportunity. If they allowed extra defense or semi-immunity against elemental attacks as suggested or if they let warriors equip elemental belts, it would have opened up new and fun builds.

I got Bolt and Brand from completion of the latest Book Challenge, my first Level 27 weapons, and the fact that their base damage is lower than my pre-existing Level 24 Longsword of the Dragon makes me go  .

on the Templar I prefer the bitter axe to the hakon ls wombo combo just isn't any good without blowing up a pile of mooks and killing those immune from the detonations....

 

otoh i'll take the dwarven shield with hakon ls on the dwarf because its got double the damage per hit and seeing shield bash do over 10k is much more satisfying than doing it 3 times and then have some halfwit pug kill the mob before it can blow up and take out the rest of the stuff around it .....

 

 

actually it seems like some people are totally anti detonations, most of the games I played last week every time I stunned a pile of stuff someone would ruin the combo with an aoe attack greatly prolonging the match and lowering the total xp gain ......

 

as to the lvl 26/27 one handers there all junk in comparison to bitter axe, not one situation are they useful in, lower damage output and much slower proc rate for the equipped shield's ability ..... I thought they were supposed to be useful....

 

compare that to dancers axe, its a monster for level 1 it beats the hakon gs hands down, but as soon as you unlock an ability or 3 it also takes second place to the hakon cos of the extra abilities, still waiting for a couple of other weapons to complete the set for the cresent but from what I've seen of people using it that's no where near as game changing as the bitter axe either /

It's a sword that plays the upgrade to Cool Beats, what's not to like? Bolt is the worst of the three IMO.

What's not to like?? Cold is one of the most resisted elements, so despair demons, revenants, ice spellbinders, arcane horrors, qunari spear throwers and many others will eat you for breakfast with that sword.

I am not sure what happened, but I took the Rime out for a spin in threatening just for fun.  I swing at an arcane horror and instant killed it.  I mean just a basic attack swing.  I only did one match and haven't seen another one yet.

Arcane Horrors can freeze. That is why if you have Luka with Frost Flask equipped, you can freeze and kill at your leisure.

Those weapons are kinda fun,but I just ignore them +Perilous.

High level,rare weapons shouldn't be useless on higher difficulties.Not very well thought content.

Arcane Horrors can freeze. That is why if you have Luka with Frost Flask equipped, you can freeze and kill at your leisure.

 

yeah this time it was weird.  I know my lego cannot one shot arcane horror even at routine!   He was at full health and I just ran in press basic attack.. and he dies instantly.   I looked around seeing maybe he just teleported but the chest opened...   very strange.  Once in a while, my lego seems to do strange things.  He would randomly one shot things that should have needed multiple hits (like 5+) to kill.

 

Oh it is not like Cold Beat upgrade at all!   The cold proc rarely does anything.   I am not sure the proc rate is even 10%....

They are amazing on threatening, just no use above that
