I have enjoyed playing this game on the PS3 very much, (haven't played it in a while, though) and, as I  ust got a PS4, I was wondering if y'all think the PS 4 version is worth the 25 bucks it cost at Amazon? Is it that much of an improvement over the PS3 version, enough to make me want to play it again ? I was a good ways from being even remotely near finished before.

Yes, definitely. I was lucky and picked up a pre-owned (game).

Having played through the game entirely four times on PS3 and two on PS4, I can safely say it's like a whole new game. Everything is just so much better, from graphics to performance. Definitely grab it, import your character, and go to town. :)

Probably would be a good idea to get the GOTY edition.

I'm on PS4 and I can most certainly recommend it, it simply looks and runs better on PS4 when compared to the 7th gen systems. It's probably worth picking up the GOTY edition so to get access to Descent and Trespasser DLC's. Trespasser is one of the best DLC's bioware has ever done imo.

I'm a PC gamer, so I got lucky there - my years old hardware still could pull the full deal - but if I was in a similar situation, I believe that getting the game again on Next Gen would be worth it for Trespasser alone. (Plus graphics. You don't need them if you have great gameplay and story, but if you can combine all three - you're in gaming heaven.)

I've played the game on ps3 and thought the game looked good. I went to the game store down the road and played Inquisition on a ps4 for about an hour. I noticed a difference right away. When I get a ps4, Black Friday most likely, I will get the game of the year edition

Yes. If for nothing more then the fact that you now have the ability to play the DLCs.

Well< I made the jump and am downloading it now. I think I will wait for the DLC, though. Thanks for the comments.

Oh, and is Shanlii correct about importing my character from the PS3? How would I do that?

I think you should have got the GOTY edition since you'll probably save more money that way than you would getting the dlcs individually... If you don't plan on buying dlc, you should get trespasser because it's very essential to closing out inquisition as a story.

You can import your character as long as you still have your PS3 version and the Black Emporium free DLC on both consoles.  Just go to the Emporium with the character you want and follow the instructions from here. It works like a charm, though you might have to tweak your character's face a little bit after import.

Edit: To show how well it works, here's my Inquisitor on PS3 (this is without the HD hooked up and therefore doubly ugly)

And the same fella on PS4 after import

Goodness.  It's like you got corrective eye surgery between the two.

Ain't it? :D Admittedly, that first shot was through the old RGB hookups and it does look a lot better through the HD, but the PS4 is miles ahead of even that. So glad I upgraded!

I'd advise to wait till after Chrismas and pick up the GOTY on sale. That's what I'm doing (only its 360 to PS4 in my case)

Just make sure you get Trespasser after you upgrade.  :) Probably the main thing, right? Aside from graphics.

I went from the 360 to the PS4 and while I could care less about graphics, the game looked so much better.

But the main, and really only reason, to go from last gen to current gen is because of the DLC that's unavailable for last gen, though I would skip Descent, but its up to you, plenty of people liked it, just not me.

...

I tried playing this on PS3.  And everytime I got to Level 6, the game would freeze up on me and I would have to delete my saved game content and start the game over.  ALL THE TIME.

Now I am on PS4, purchased the game as a download and I am happily on level 17 now and no freezing up.

I guess the PS3 could not handle it.

After a 33 hour(!!!)  download of the application data, I finally got to try the transfer from the PS3 to the PS4, it worked like a charm! And I agree, I think it was worth it.

I didn't get the GOTY for a couple of reasons, main one being I don't have the money right now, second being my character is only at level 6, so I have a good ways to go before I'm ready for the DLC. (At least for JoH, which I already have) I can wait, and I don't mind spending  a few extra dollars if I have to.

One last thing, is the PS4 version known to have an issue with the party banter? I know a lot of people were (are?)reporting a lack of banter, although I didn't have such  a problem on the PS3, the banter worked like it was supposed to. It doesn't seem to be as present here on the PS4, though, but I've only played for about bout 30minutes or so, It just may be that it has'nt reach a trigger point yet. (?)

Anyway, thanks everybody  for your input!

UPDATE! Played for a while this morning, and the banter seems to be working as it should. That's a relief! I find the banter entertaining, especially when Sera's involved.

All-righty then, back to the Inquisition!
