Update: Finished trespasser and all dlcs. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have the urge to start anew from scratch with another inquisitor!

I avoid the spoilers forum since i ve still yet to play the dlcs.
I am currently on my 2nd playthrough ; this time with all the DLCs.
Bioware has proven to me that the DLCs really enhance the game, every title was way different with them.
So far with the addition of trials from Trespasser the game itself has elevated for me (level 10).
Half XP, level scaling and tougher enemies make this game best of this gen for me only just behind from the witcher3.
Revisiting it the second time feels FANTASTIC. I am in love!!!!
I dare say that i cannot look back to previous dragon age titles. Sure there is a not good sidequest design but reading the codex and picking the quests with an ingame inquisitor logic and not just following the quest icons in the map (the way is SHOULD be played) makes the game totaly worth it.

I just entered crestwood and this map clearly shows what DA:I would be if there was more time:
interesting sidestory, the great damn-flood-deflood situation, the dragon, the flooded caves, mayor missing and NPCs that actually react to your presence and speak. Sadly the next zones i will visit willnot be of that quality.
But still this works to its advantage as crestwood really shines!

Anyway i was wondering: whats the consensus on Da:I. now that the game is finished?
Do you love it?
Where do you stack this game?
Is this a "bioware" game?

Pesonally i love this game.

Love the game, great story, some good companions and interesting choices. I even have no objection to the villain. I felt pitty for the man at the end and there is something to be said for a bit of black-and-white.

I do think the game is a bit too open world for my taste (so is Witcher 3 btw). I prefer a slightly more focussed story, so that the designers can pay more time to the interactions. Right now most of the choices are too obviously smoke and mirrors. While I love the war table, it is not nearly good enough to show the effects of your choices. The side quests are a bit bland and repetitve with litte impact on the world. I also miss the origin stories from DAO and the clear natural ending of said game. This just feels like the beginning of a bigger, although a very interesting, story.

Yes.
Currently my fav of all time.

Is this a "bioware" game?

I think this is a bit silly, since it literally is a "Bioware" game. But does it have the elements Bioware has become known for? I think it does. However, I will say that I think that differs from person to person. To me these DA games have never been about combat, so I don't give a fig about tac-cam mode, super complex tactics assignments, and stuff like that. But I know that many players do, and that their inclusion is part of what makes a Bioware game for those players. I also felt just fine being able to RP with both my Hawke in DA2 and my Inquisitor in DAI, whereas others did not and think that the DAO Warden was the ultimate DA roleplay experience for them. So, like anything else, it's all subjective.

While I love the war table, it is not nearly good enough to show the effects of your choices.

Sadly, the war table is one of my least favorite parts of the game. I like how it relates to the missions, and how different companions add additional operations, but 50% of it just feels like a chore that I have to get through. However, I suppose that some of this weariness come from having played the game numerous times...

I am happy this game gets love, i remember the countless threads rating DAI as a new low standard for bioware.

I too was super fine with Hawke, the best DA protagonist for me. Sarcastichawke was a tragic badass.

Love? No, but I'm a huge commitment-phobe. I just don't know if I want to spend my whole life with just one game. :P

No, game is decent at best.

To not produce wall of text i will try describe shortly flaws i found with this game.

The only thing game has good are locations rest is medicore or just plain bad.

Story is average or even below average as it is just typical save world from lunatic that wants to blow it up and things not always make sense.Characters vary from good to bad so no much to say here.

Side Quests are downright awful with 90+ % of them being fetch quests.

Roleplaying is rather weak however, still better than da 2.Roleplaying doesn't offer much diversity you are forced to play good guy be it lighter anti-hero at worst ,then we have dialogue wheel that is just bad for roleplaying. To be fair game offered nice amount of freedom when it comes to certain topics like faith.

Soundtrack is mediocre there are few good and memorable tracks but rest is nothing outstanding and easy to forget.

Mechanics is simplified we no longer have imput on stats we can only control abilities that for some dumb reason are restriced to 8 slots. Then there is fact when veteran and fan of turn based rpg is forced to play in real time rather than in strategic mode it may be bad sign. Then rather poor healing system, potions are very easy to acquire at no cost and lack of healing magic.

What i liked is crafting system that was unnecessarily saying vastly expanded.

So, no sadly dai is far from top rpg or games in general on my list but at least it isn't as bad as da 2 that i was forcing myself to finish.

No, sadly not. I liked the story but other than that nothing. The gameplay changes were a huge letdown for me. I think, i even had more fun playing Dragon Age 2.

My favorite is still Origins.

the feeling i had when i first played the game through completely, Is something i have never felt before. I was hooked into the plot, the characters and lore. I have never felt that from a Dragon Age Game and 2 was high on my list to begin with. DAI has become one of my most treasured games, beating out Crash Bandicoot 3.

After Trespasser, I finally got off the fence - Inquisition is my favourite Dragon Age game so far. The only BioWare game that surpasses it in my affections is Baldur's Gate 2.

Love:  No.

Liked/Positive Experience:  Yes.

Characters were great, banters and coversations were entertaining. World was big and beautiful. Lore was enhanced, but not nearly as much as it could have been. Granted, I haven't purchased the DLC, but I shouldn't have to in order to get a deep and complete story.

Game could have been epic, but failed in the areas of main story, villain and empty fetch quests. Story needed more meat to it, it was too thin. If its true they cut out a huge portion of the story (for whatever the reason), whomever made that decision needs to find a new job. In part, the story was too thin due to a horribly clowned villain who maxed out at the end of Act I and played the stooge role from there on out. Shallow story led to meandering fetch quests to see the big beautiful world they created. It had such potential, but comes up short.

DAI is a great game. I love it. Could it have been better? Certainly, but I can say that of every game I've played. I like the open world, I like the immersion. I would have liked to have seen Val Royeaux more built out with a few optional quests, much like was the case for Denerim in DAO. Combat control was the weak point of this game but the story lines were great.

Yes, I liked the game well enough before Trespasser but with the gameplay changes and the reveals as well as the cliffhanger we got there! Hard to beat.

I think it's a better game than Dragon Age 2. But still... it is miles away from Origins.

Also, despite thinking of it as a better game than DA2, I don't like it much. It's the only DA game I have just played once, and didn't buy the DLCs (and I don't plan to). It's just not the game I was expecting. The openwordly feel and the way mages were handled wasn't my cup of tea.

I was kind of flip-flopping between loving it and thinking it was just okay, but Trespasser, thanks to the gameplay improvements and lore reveals, has pushed me firmly into the 'loving it' camp.

My personal consensus is that the games design is laborious, cumbersome, upside-down, back to front and brags fields of boredom.  BUT, if you can work-around, ignore or imagine it as something else, you find a great game lurking within.

I think there were to many idea's floating around in it's making, leaving the finished project without flow.  As I said though, cut away the fatty bits and your left with a lean mouth-watering game.

After having replayed it recently with all the DLC I must say, yes, I do love the game. The characters and depth of lore really make it for me.

That said it's got lots of issues both mechanically (trying to really use the "tactical camera" a lot this playthrough drove me nuts) and story wise (Coriphyfish wasn't a terribly threatening villain in the later half of the story). That combined with my own rose-tinted glasses for Origins ensures Inquisition is not going to be my favorite of the series.

Second play-through tarnished this game for me more than it improved my opinion with the exception of JoH and Trespasser (haven't played Descent).

IMO story-wise, the mage templar war was disappointing in game. The Game (orlesian royalty) was disappointing in game. The derping of Thedas was disappointing.

Parts of DAI were great but with perhaps unfair trilogy expectations for cohesive greatness of the third progression of the DA story too much game vomit like shard hunting tarnished it for me. The overall game experience/quality would have been okay for me in a prequel but not as the third DA game. It's a game I still want to like so it (DAI or the DA story) did something along the way.

Admittedly there is a significant expectation for fulfilling content you have to spend a 100 hours of precious free time in.

If DA4 is good that will help the quality of DAI for me as the game that got us to DA4. IMO DAI would benefit from a future enhanced edition years from now that corrects some flaws and helps the good stuff shine.

I am very glad that many people find DAI to be a very meaningful game for them. I don't want to diminish the already well discussed good points of DAI which I hope will continue.

DAI was enjoyable, and if it had been a standalone game I probably would have loved it. But since it's part of the DA series, it was ultimately disappointing.

There were aspects that were improved from the previous games, notably graphics and zone design. But many aspects were not improved or actually worsened, such as the underdeveloped protagonist and antagonist. I see a lot of people on these forums say "if you ignore X Y and Z about the game, it's so great!" and I can't cherry pick the good aspects from the game to give an overall happy rating to it. Yes, if we ignore elements we don't like about a game, of course we're going to like it. But how many things can we ignore before we're actually ignoring a good portion of the game?

I didn't really follow Bioware's interactions with fans for the previous two games, but just going from the lack of communication starting once the game was out, the poor customer service and tactics used for post-game support, I am really disappointed in Bioware as a game company now.

It has been quite the letdown. Still not a bad game but it just doesn't do it for me. The pacing of the story is poor. I understand that in this kind of game the pacing isn't as tight as in a movie or a completely linear game but even then the presentation of the events between you getting Skyhold and going to the Temple of the Well doesn't exactly evoke "second act" or "building tension" to me. It feels like just doing stuff waiting for something to happen, even if in theory we are thwarting Cory.

The gameplay (I have to mention the mess it was on PC, even if I didn't experience it) works but doesn't feel good, specially after playing better versions of the genre. In real time it tries to play as an action rpg. Having played from Bayonetta to Dark Souls The abilities are too few and there is not combo system. At best you use your abilities somewhat tactically, if not just use abilities as soon the cooldowns are done. And as a real time squad game? I never went deep into the systems but from the analysis of people who did the previous games were better.

The areas looked good, and that's about it. When I try to remember sidequests found on the map (not given from companions) the only one that is kind of compelling to me is the one in the dessert with hte Orlesian professor to hunt the high dragon. The companion sidequests were good, as most of their stuff, even if many just didn't click with me. No love or hate (Solas, Blackwall, Cole, Iron Bull).

From what I've seen on youtube and heard here it seems that they're getting better with the dlc, but after this game I just can't bring myself to spend more money on it. Not with Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, SWToR, Tomb Raider and Destiny around.

I mean, if you've never played a DA game or any that emulates this kind of Bio RPG in a good way (not talking about stuff like KotOR 2, I have played a couple that were bad.) sure, DAI is good enough to be enjoyable. Bringing scores to me it feels as if Bio was my kid and had been getting 8-10/10s and now comes with a 6.5. Sure, it's good, better than passable, but I'm used to Bio doing much better.

I was going to say "So here's to them doing better in the future" but as I was writing I realized that they already have. I may not like the initial premise of the last SWToR expansion, but what they've done with it is so good that I can forgive it. Because to me that has been the brilliance of Bioware. Their individual elements may not be the greatest but up to DAI the whole package was always so worth it to me.

I also feel that the developers concentrated too much on an open world feel. Even though the areas in the first two games were restricted I preferred this over vast expansive places because at least there is a clear reason as to why I am there. The hissing wastes in particular can feel like something of a chore. I think this is why somewhere like crestwood works well because it is a smaller area with, as you said, an interesting sidequest driving it forward.

Even though the storyline was clichéd in places I thought the main quests were excellent and the first time I played I remember really looking forward to progressing in this.

However the things that did it for me in this game were the characters and art direction not really gameplay or specialisations which were better in DAO.

Things like closing rifts and collecting shards can get repetitive and something that also feels like a chore. But despite it's flaws I do love it for some of the reasons I've stated and also because trespasser was better than anything I expected. For me it falls just behind DAO. I can't comment on other Bioware games having only played DA and ME.
