I don't know if I love it, but I definitely had a fun time with it!

However my advice to Bioware would be to focus less on creating large worlds and more on character content. Since that's where they truly shine.

As I mentioned, a big part of this plan would be to get nobles to follow our new religious sect, which like scientology, requires significant donations of cash or troops or supplies. Tribute to the living embodiment of Andraste's will who will prevent the Breach from swallowing the world.

We could make the ruler of Orlais be our puppet similar to the Briala-Gaspard option currently available. We would have to do a lot more than eavesdrop and find notes lying around, we would have to find some truly damning evidence to keep a powerful Orlesian noble under our thumb. It could even be Florianne to ascend the throne, if we convince her to abandon Cory and follow us, if we clear the path to the throne for her.

For the Grey Wardens, we already have the option to have them remain in Southern Thedas and help fight Corypheus, so rather than leave them as a war table operation, we conscript them as we did the templars/mages.

I think you're seeing this as a complete 180 to what's already in the game. I don't want the Inquisitor to grow a twirling moustache and cackle as s/he beheads all opposition. This is a more subtle difference, where the PC can claim to be seizing power in order to save the world. It's basically why the Exalted Council is formed in Trespasser, anyway; everyone is afraid that the Inquisition has gained too much power and influence and needs to be controlled/disbanded. Just in my scenario, their fears are more justified than they are as the game exists now.

As others have posted, being able to predict the future is not a reasonable justification for our actions. And who is to say that if the base game was dramatically restructured to allow ruthless options, the Exalted Council might not end differently as well? All of what I'm saying is assuming that the game doesn't remain identical except more renegade responses to the current paragon options.

None of the Inquisitor's dialogue struck me as particularly ruthless. Yes, we can conscript templars/mages, banish Wardens, and allow Celene to be killed. But the three dialogue options never had the emotional resonance of being an a*hole. They were all framing the identical response in slightly different ways.

I know this was a few days ago, but I felt I needed to reply after thinking about what was said here.

I acknowledge that's it not fair to put down suggestions for more roleplaying options with metagame arguments. Especially because no player can see the future. Inquisition had all the chance in the world to be a very different game, and no fan could be wrong in predicting how it would have turned out while new content was still being made after release. My earlier replies feel a little foot-in-mouth to me right now.

I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I didn't like this game;

1- The inquisitor is boring( dry, overly neutral, and just no where near as entertaining, as Hawke was).

2-  Excessive power requirements and grinding are needed advance the story,

3- Combat was smoother, and more challenging in DA2.

Just finished trespasser and i'm vaguely excited for DA4, i dont think its as good as a lot of people on these forums but its definitely a step in the right direction in my opinion. Overall i liked somethings from DAI but i just had a hard time not loosing interest which is a first for any bioware game.

Could someone who had this problem walk me through his path through the game? I can't see any way to need to grind Power unless I'm actively dodging rifts and whatnot. Levels conceivably could be a problem on the higher difficulty settings, I guess.

Gaining the bare minimum to unlock quests is ridiculously easy, and you get power from more than just closing rifts. In a completionist run, you can end up with well over 300 by the game's conclusion.

Actually one of the things I would change about the game is the power thing.  Granted I appreciate you bing able to get power easily but I would have changed the whole requisition thing from getting power to getting gold for you to spend.

I found myself making so much gold throughout the game, largely due to the crafting. Once I had the mats I wanted, I was basically selling all of the gear I'd loot, many of which would grant over 2k or more gold each. By the conclusion of my most recent playthrough, I had over 180k with nothing to buy. All I could do was spend the 10k to destroy that guy's business in Val Royeaux and buy his ware.

I definitely support this, Even going into Trespasser I had an excess of Power, if it wasn't for the merchant glitch in Descent DLC my Inquisitor would have been flat broke.

Unfortunately that was patched away :(

I think the idea I would have for the reqs would other powers individuals would place orders with the Inquisition, and as you finish them, you'd get gold.  And I know by the end game it would be redundant but the beginning game you could realllly use the gold sometimes.

I never had issues with Power either, but then I do plenty of sidequesting on top of the whole Dragon Slayer business.

I've spent an obscene amount of time, like two solid weeks, editing DAI into a six-hour epic movie. I hate DAI but I'm obsessed with editing it into something I will approve, as a way to learn the basics of Adobe Premiere. And it's still going to have weak spots and glitches, but I'm not going to replay the whole darn thing to smooth out choppy audio or whatever,
god.
I'm in Emprise Du Lion right now and will be going to the Arbor Wilds shortly.

IT IS TAKING SO LONG WHAT THE FACK

Bioware wanted to make their content optional, so they had a minimum plot coupon threshold. The problem was that the content they created to get you the plot coupons was too barebones.

It grew on me more than I originally expected. Trespasser helped. Now I can't wait to see how the Solas storyline develops, but I'll be pissed if the Inquisitor isn't the one to stop him, especially a friend/lover Inquisitor.

The gameplay could use some work (I'd appreciate more flexibility in combat and mixed builds) but the story was pretty good. It could have been longer and I found Corypheus a weak villain but Solas made up for it, and the main levels (Halamshiral, the temple of Mythal, Adamant) were great. More political backstabbing and fewer fetch quests next time please.

So far with the addition of trials from Trespasser the game itself has elevated for me (level 10).

So is it safe to use the trials from Trespasser? They all come with warnings, so I stayed away from them (playing the first time with the DLC's). But they seem nice, as the game could be more challenging overall.

IMO, DA:I is the best Bioware game since BGII and it's my favorite game lately, together with Divinity: Original Sin and Fallout 4.

It is very safe but be prepared for some surprises.

Cool, thanks!

EDIT: Even Ground and Walk Softly really transforms the game. At Nightmare the challenge seems just about perfect (we'll see, perhaps I'll eat up those words). On the other hand, I have this issue with characters freezing in place at times - and that is even more annoying now as it can be a question of life or death to have them actually do what you want.

I loved DAI. I would have liked the side quests to be a little more involving, but in general I loved having such a massive world to lose myself in. I thought the characters were some of the best BW has ever created and I truly hope there is a DA4.

Why? Why not advise them to get better at creating large worlds and more character content? That way we get more for our money.

It certainly can be done. Both Witcher 1 to Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age: Inquisition are proof of the progress that can be made.

My main issue is the big evil bad guy is all talk and nothing else. Hell, a gang of nugs gave me more problems than Cory ever did.

Well, it's no Origins but it's better than DA:2.

Just.

Too many dull bits between the interesting ones. Set pieces were excellent but were islands in a ocean of mediocrity. Huge empty maps  - half of which had nothing to do with the main plot at all.

Maybe next time we will get elves with unbroken arms and hair and beards that work. Still convinced Sera is literally wearing a straw wig.

Wasn't a fan of the ending. Not ME3 levels of bad, just 'lets remove all the Inquisitors agency to make room for the new protagonist in the next game'.
