Mass Effect survived ripping off Revelation Space
And Babylon 5... And Battlestar Galactica... And...
There are few truly new ideas in sci-fi. Still fewer in sci-fi games. That doesn't mean they can't be fun. ![]()

It's weird, I always had a mental association of the Ghost Riders song with the Klu Klux Klan, but I can't find a reference to that.
Correction:

It had to do with the white cloth masks the KKK originally wore.
I don't think that was the association that Bioware was looking towards.
Interesting fact. In that quick bit of research I found out that "Ghost Riders in..." was the inspiration for the Doors' song ''Riders on the Storm":

Oh yeah, there is a text reference to the Wild Hunt in either Skyrim or Oblivion. Some story about the canabalistic Wild Hunt frenzy that Bretons(?) could use.

So I think that since we're all here discussing MEA when it's still a year away from release, it's fair to assume that we're all, in some way, looking forward to it. But after reading posts and playing other games I find myself slightly bothered by this:
- The Wild Hunt: the Johnny Cash song used in the first trailer is a song about the Wild Hunt. Yanick Roy has already stated that there "was a very good reason why the song was chosen" for the trailer, which may or may not confirm that MEA will have some ties to the tale of the Wild Hunt.
- The Remnant: based on the April 2015 leak, the Remnant "a once powerful and mysterious race" play some kind of role in the game. If you've played Rise of the Tomb Raider, you know that one of the factions in the game is called the Remnant.
Are you worried that two of the known concepts for MEA (the Wild hunt and the Remnant) are already being used in popular games? Do you think it will affect the way you (or anyone) perceive MEA when it is released?
Just curious...
I love how this post assumes we all know that the fahk "Wild Hunt" is or refers to. Splain yo'self fool!

It won't as long as there are no Pedophile rapist clowns...it sounds crazy when I actually type that out, but I am serious.

The Wild Hunt is old mythology. Hell, the Horned King from the Black Cauldron is a nod to the Wild Hunt (since the Villain of the series is Arawn, Welsh God of the Underworld and sometimes considered the Huntsman) and I'm pretty sure that the Book of Three was written before the Witcher was (Book of Three was published in 1964)
The Hunt's been in the Dresden Files, the October Daye series, the Walker Papers, and the Merry Gentry novels, and all those are off the top of my head. Oh and it's been in one of the BtVS novels as well.
Depending on what version you go for, they hunt oathbreakers and kinslayers. One can either chose to join the hunt or be prey etc...
Just give me a nice ride if I'm heading out with the Hunt. Normandy 2 class works for me.

The Wild Hunt of which I was referring...
And in my opinion one worse then those myths and crack point legends ever dreamt of being
Note the very obvious pedophile rapist clown.
Not joking *shudders*
By far the most disturbing usage of that moniker I am aware of in modern media.
