I think it looks pretty damn neat.
As to the implications for the future, I have no idea. It might be setting up a story element for DA4, or even serve as an introduction for a party member.
Optimistically, it will familiarize us with a few characters and plotlines that will be important in DA4, maybe even a companion.
Pessimistically, it will lead to a terribly underwhelming sidequest line that invokes the characters only in passing or does involve them but butchers their character.
It will probably be a fun read either way though
Tevinter has mage hunters eh?
This news alone makes me excited.
Tevinter has mage hunters eh?
Of course. How else would the weaker magisters deal with their rivals?

Yeah, I anticipate a DA4 companion will be from the comics. Also, based on the short story of Calpernia that was released a few months ago, I believe it's suggested that she used to know the mage hunter, who was a slave in the same manor as her before his escape. So might have a Calpernia cameo, especially as the comics deal with the rise of the Venatori.
Of course. How else would the weaker magisters deal with their rivals?
But... but it's a magetopia where mages are free and everyone's happy learning and being very highly educated and doing miraculous things with magic!!!
I'm super excited about this - I'm a huge Greg Rucka fan, and looking forward to learning more about Tevinter.
Incidentally, Polygon printed a preview today.

Just hunters? ![]()
Wow! and I thought I was impatient for DA4 before I saw this!
So mages are vampires now? Is that what this is? I see a blood mage with a wooden stake in her chest ...
That is actually a sword. So mages are vampires now? Is that what this is? I see a blood mage with a wooden stake in her chest ...
Yay
Can't wait ![]()
According to the review this series will cover before DAI, the Conclave explosion, DAI and a bit after?
Sign me in! :|

Well even Ferris begrudgingly admitted that in Tevinter there are things that will get the magisters to call out their templars, the lines of what is permitted and not aren't in the same as in the southern chantry lands but they do exist. Given that its not surpising that they do have people specialized in hunting down those who do cross the line.
These are my two favorite new people in the Dragon Age universe.
Bioware... I MUST play a Seeker capable of boiling mage blood... or, even better... just locking a mage off from his mana supply so I can walk toward him ever so slowly and say:
"This is how it feels mage. This is how it feels when someone wields power over you that you're helpless to defend against. You should have diversified... "
Red the article and they mention Marius O.o Is he Calpernia's Marius?
If he is, I'm calling it now! DA4! Play matchmaker to long lost love that returns! We get to unite Calpernia and Marius back
(kidding. Though it would hilarious if it does happen. Or who knows, maybe down right tragic and heartfelt too, if done right)
Yes, he is.

At least they don't sparkle. ![]()

Please, please, please let those outfit designs be a possibility in DA4 for the PC. Any of them. The blood mage's (especially the blood mage's, honestly), the hunters', the people she walks past. Please.
Also, the story looks interesting. lol
Tumblr is upset that BioWare would write a comic about people killing poor, opressed, especial snowflake mages.
Go check it out, it's good for a laugh.
I've been hearing that reaction since this comic was announced. Some fans have a hard time wrapping their heads around the fact that in Tevinter, mages are the oppressors, not the oppressed.
Of course they would train certain mundies to take out mages. Politics in Tevinter is nearly as cutthroat as Orlais, but unlike the south, all the "nobles" have magical powers to defend themselves. How else would you remove a rival? A risky magical duel?
