As far as I can see, the choice is between Maric's Blade or Duncan's sword.  I've been using Maric's Blade because of the lesser strength requirement but now my rogue is strong enough to take Duncan's sword.  They both have good features, but is either particularly better for rogues?  I also have Starfang but have given that to Alistair and I assume my rogue will never be strong enough to wield that.

You're better off two daggers then dagger-sword or sword-sword

no, you should buy the rose thorn in orzamar and with another dagger penetration bonus. With haste and swift salve, that gear make you a killing machine

My current Rogue uses Rose's Thorn with The Edge. It's a great combo clear through endgame. Some people make a big deal of Thorn of the Dead Gods but I tried using that in different combos and I just wasn't getting the damage rating that I was with Rose + The Edge.

Rosethorn... and just where do you get the 150 gold to buy the thing?

if OP is a dwarven noble, gorim buys stuff at double price. normally reaper's cudgel sells at 300 gold...

high level lyrium potion crafting...

and some people just go "fud< the grind, might as well use the console"

suddenly realized something.

one way to approach this is to dual wield sword, using lethality to prioritize cunning.

dagger damage ratio is 0.5 str+0.5 dex, requiring 2 points of stats to gain 1 point interface dmg increase, whereas sword ratio is 1 str (1 cun) for a rogue with lethality.

There are a few reasons you don't want to do that...

1. Straight cunning has atrocious attack. More damage per hit is outweighed by misses

2. To dual wield big weapons you need 36 dex for dual wield mastery, and 31 str for the weapons, both of which do nothing for your damage (admittedly helps with the attack issue...). Whereas daggers benefit from the dex, and don't need nearly as much strength.

3. Rogues get big flat damage boosts from tainted blade, exploit weakness and song of valor. Faster attacks get more out of these.

4. The rose's thorn gives +30% backstab damage. Which is better than any big weapon can offer.

It is strictly possible for large/dagger to outdamage dagger/dagger because you can still use the rose's thorn and don't have to have nearly as much dex - but only by a tiny amount, and only very late in the game. (large/large is always well behind no matter what). But it still struggles with attack, and dagger/dagger with higher dex does better in practise.

I love dual wield Sword rogue, i have made builds myself

For me it can be two types, Str Dex or Dex Cun, i prefer Dex Cun and using Str just for weapon requirement, it is because as a rogue i want more Cun points for rogue skills

For me, i like Imperial Swords or Saw Swords (both upgraded to Dragonbone), and these are fine by me, for their look...

Don't forget your family sword if you play as a human noble, it has no strength prerequisite even when upgraded... upgrade to dragonbone and put in some good runes. (paralyze, hale runes) which will keep you from getting knocked down. Almost impossible to get knocked down if your physical resistance hits 100. (125 in awakening)

I didn't think the Family Sword could be upgraded. I'd have to check that on my next playthrough.

Cousland Family Sword can't be upgraded in vanilla, but there is a mod

Using the mod, i do like using it with Topsider Honor for dual wield western looking-style of a look

Anyway, weapons bonus in this game is just meh in my opinion, there is no good or bad sword for any build (except anything labelled "Darkspawn"), any swords can do. I am more into "pleasing to the eyes" weapons, so even though Spellweaver is a sword for Arcane Warrior, i never use it for my character
