Who are supposed to be our followers in DA 4. There are no more than 9 members in party-  Bio won’t change that and some characters were introduced already in another media like books and comics.

Warriors:

1- Michel de Chevin.
Specialisation: Champion or party wall.
Introduction: one of main characters from Masked Empire.
LI: handsome war god to anyone?

2- Marius.
Specialisation: Anti-mage.
Introduction: Mage killer.
LI: too attractive not to be.

3 - Unknown DPS - we always have one.

Rogues:

1- Lace Harding.
Specialisation: Archer.
Introduction: Trepasser ending. Most likely she will be leading character- the story gives us the clue (no spoilers please).
LI: I think they tested in DAI if someone like dwarf romance.

2-  Unknown  Assasin.

3- Probably Antivan duelist - they get a lot of attention in setting and for
balance- mix between distance and DPS.

Mages:

1- Maevaris Tilani.
Specialisation: Support
Introduction: Those who speak.

LI: no. She is widow and still loves her husband.

2- Calpernia.
Specialisation: DPS
Introduction: Developers says she can come back.
LI: Likely yes.

3 -  Unknown person. May be knight enchanter or new specialisation.

NPC: Dorian - play Trepasser. Zevran- more details of his background in WOT 2.
We should not expect quinari female- they can be only leaders or Ben - Hasrath and we already have Tallis and Iron Bull.
Neither for Grey Wardens- the story won’t be focus on them, more on Tevinter itself.
We shouldn\t expect our former LI too.
Do you have more clues? Please share.

What about the characters from “Last Flight”? I think they could be NPC- the story goes off Grey Wardens to elven gods.

So I'm assuming that this is just all your own speculation.

I don't really have anything to add except that I'm hoping that they wouldn't do another Qunari Ben-Hassrath... just ugh. Geez, give us something else. However they could have a Qunari Tal-Vashoth who is a woman, and that would fill the Qunari slot (as in, from the Qun, plus good backstory reasons for leaving), so we get additional viewpoints on the culture, and finally a female Qunari to talk to.

Also, I wouldn't rule out Maevaris as an LI completely. As you say, she IS a widow. But even though it's kind of a trope to have a romance option be someone who has lost their former partner (spouse or not), how that person has dealt with it can make all the difference in presentation. And honestly, having an older, sophisticated female mage would be a nice change, particularly since Vivienne was not a romance option in DAI. Of course it will be up to the writer to decide whether a romance is right for the character, or not. Now... I think one of the deciding factors in a romance will undoubtedly be her transgender status, and whether Bioware wants to take a huge chance -- let's be honest, it would be taking a chance. I think they absolutely should, and from the little I know of her (personality-wise), she may just be my first ever f/f romance in the series** may just be my first female romance in the series.

** Lol... I just realized I wrote that line as if I (the female player) would be romancing her. Since she married a man we know she's at least interested in men, but we don't know whether she may also be interested in women as well. Who knows! We'll have to see :D. But if she's only interested in men I would certainly romance her as one. I switched genders for Dorian, and that guy Inquisitor is now my canon character.

I don't think we are ever going to get a Templar follower, I mean real full fledged one. So Alistair doesn't count.

This is specially more true with Weekes as main writer, because MAGIC.

We won't be getting Michel most likely as he can be DEAD in some play throughs and considering the crap the got for bringing Anders back, I don't think they'll do it again.

I'd rather not have Calperia as a companion. I just am so blah about her. I'd rather have more original characters, and Calperina would be more interesting as an antagonist/rival rather than a companion anyway.

Lace is the only character from DAI I would want to transfer over as a companion. Dorian is going to be there, that's pretty much a given, but I'm thinking he's going to be more a mentor than anything.

Leliana was bigger fuss since no explanation was given. Explanation for Anders came fairly quickly.

Leliana hunted Bioware until Trespasser. It practically forced them to explain.

I think a templar follower at this stage is going to be more difficult considering what happened to the templars in DAI and the lack of a clear future mentioned in Trespasser. As I recall, there are no slides that mention the templars' fate, with the only evidence being the main game epilogue information for the various Divine options, which change depending on who you get.

And... what do you mean in regards to your comment about Patrick Weekes and magic?

^ /Shrug Not by everyone, apparently... I only heard of him when he started writing for DA, and The Masked Empire was the first thing of his I ever read. I also don't follow much developer social media other than what may be pointed out and directly quoted somewhere else. However, while that may be the case, now as head writer he would hopefully have a wider scope than his own personal preference... you know... ideally.

Oh I didn't mean he would have bias.

How to explain? There would be more "magical eye candy" and magical characters in the series. He did write Solas after all. And was main writer in Inquisition. You can already see how much grand the role of magic is.

DA's a fantasy setting.  So...hasn't this always been the case?   :P

Not as much as DA:I. 2/3 chapters of DA2 doesn't really involve magic. 4/5 main quests of DAO follows this rule.

Magic is everyone on DA:I. Patrick Weekes being the lead writer and next game being in Tevinter couldn't have been timed better :D

He is my favorite writer of Bioware and I happen to like his style. Give me more Solases and Coles and Iron Bulls.

No he wasn't. David Gaider was the lead writer for Dragon Age: Inquisition. After the writing for it and the DLC were done, he went to work on the new IP and it was then that Patrick Weekes became the lead writer for the Dragon Age franchise.

Even though DA4 will probably be Tevinter, I for one would love mabari's to still be in the game.

He was indeed a main writer on DA:I. I never said "lead" writer. He wrote 3 companion characters in opposed to Gaider writing two.

Patrick Weekes was also present in almost all of promotional stuff regarding DA:I while Gaider wasn't. Gaider left before the DLCs, meaning Weekes was lead writer of Descent and Jaws of Hakkon and most definitely Trespasser as he wrote Solas.

You didn't have the letter a in front of main, so your post said he was man writer, reading as he was the main writer. Sorry for misreading.

Gaider was involved with Jaws of Hakkon since that was in production during the game. Descent wasn't written or made by Bioware Edmonton but Bioware Austin. Trespasser though you are right in him being the lead writer for that DLC.

I hope they don't introduce too many characters in the next game. Not familiar with some of those names but some of it seems likely. Dorian will definitely be in DA4, but not necessarily a companion. Agree with lace harding.

Who will the protagonist be though? After what happens to the inquisitor in trespasser I am wondering how they could be a leader in the next game. It seems almost as unlikely as playing the HoF or Hawke as their are options in previous games to sacrifice themselves. I hope there won't be a new hero because there is so much opportunities to continue playing the story as the inquisitor. Anyway the inquisition members (or what is left of them) will obviously appear in dragon age 4 because they have a lead.

Just give the Inquisitor a prosthetic hand.

You know, they actually almost had that exact character in DA:I as a companion... Her bio is still in the files with the rest of them. It would have been interesting, and I hope they realize it in the next game. I would have taken her over - I'll just say certain other companions :P
