Edited: See post of number 9 and beyond, this will focus on Galactic Backstory, while the "real" timeline will focus on this post and beyond...

Since the 1.0 Version didn't work out so well, and was a mess, I admit, I decided that I should do another guide for a COMPLETE Run on the Mass Effect Series, including Mobile Games, DLCs, Books, Comics and what happened since the beggining of ME Universe to the End of ME3. Plus, since there are a lot of newcomers to the Forums (or at least there will be after Andromeda gets here), I would say it's a good idea to have something for them.

So, let's us start, this time more detailed, with the help of ME Wikia, but more short. (If you spot any error, please let me know)

---The Beggining of Everything

(Before the Common Era-BCE)

  •  (Unknown - 1.000.000.000 BCE)

 - A race known as the Leviathans dominate the Galaxy, enthralling any sapient race they discover.

*After observing that their subservient races create Synthetic races that constantly rebel, they create an Intelligence to seek a way to preserve the organic life. The Intelligence create Pawns that help them gather genetic information thorugh the galaxy.

*Rebellion: Intelligence and Pawns VS Leviathans. Intelligence wins, and the Pawns use the Leviathans' genetic Material to create the first Reaper: HARBINGER.

*The Cycle of Harvest begins. The Intelligence builds The Citadel and the Mass Relays to increase the efficiency of the cicles.

*One of the Races are the Keepers, that are manipulated to settle at The Citadel, keeping it stable and running for when another races get there. After a certain period of time, The Keepers signal the Reapers to emerge from Dark Space through the Citadel and begin another Cycle of Harvest.

---Before the Protheans (1 billion BCE - 68.000 BCE)

  •  1.000.000.000 BCE:

The Leviathan of Dis, a Reaper is shot down by Leviathans in orbit of the Planet Jartar.

  • 37.000.000 BCE

Unknown Race fires at a Reaper with a mass acelerator round in orbit of the Mnemosyne. The round penetrates and goes on until it hits the Planet Klendagon, then creating the Great Rift Valley.

  • 298.000 BCE

The Ancient race called Arthenn is destroyed and so is their colonies, leaving one with scars of Orbital Bombardment.

  • 125.000 BCE

The Thoi'han and Inusannon fight over the planet Eingana Their destroyed ship's drives core, full of Element Zero, fall on the planet's Surface and kill a lot of Wildlife there present. Those that survive, develop Biotic Abilities.

---Before The Council (68.000 BCE - 500 BCE)

  • 68.000 BCE:

*The PROTHEANS achieve space flight and discover ruins of the Inusannon Civilization, thus uncovering the Mass effect technology from it. They go on to establish an Empire, submiting other races to it. Those that don't want to join, are wiped out. One of those are a Machine Race that threatens the Prothean's Existence. War comes, and they are victorious on the Conflict now known as "The Metacon War"

*The Teleportation Device, known as The Conduit is built on Ilos, allowing for imediate transportation to the Citadel, the Empire's Capital.

*Some time after this conflict, the Protheans discovered evidence of a Major threat that wiped out previous galactic Civlizations : The Reapers. Time is now short, and they decide to prepare for the conflict.

  • 48.000 BCE

Altough they learned about the Reaper Threat, The Protheans come under attack by the Reapers, that used the Empire's Capital, the Citadel, as a Mass Relay to emerge from Dark Space, getting them off-guard. In a desperate attempt, the scientists on Ilos refugee themselves in an Underground Bunker. Using Cryostasis Pods, they decide to wait until the Reapers leave, with Vigil, a Prothean AI, on alert to end the Stasis when the Reapers are gone. Centuries pass, the Protheans use the beacons that are spread through the galaxy (The beacon network was the galactic commnet that the Protheans built to keep their Empire together, much like the following cycle has the Extranet and FTL comm buoys. --Thanks StarCloudSWG) to transmit a sort of warning for the rest of the Empire, but the message got there too late. The Protheans are lost, and the team on Ilos is now reduced to a handful of Top Scientists, due to Vigil transfering the remaining Bunker Power Supply to them.

* On the planet Eden Prime, the conflict is now coming to an end. Betrayed by their own, now Indocrinated army, the last Bunker begins to be invaded, and the Avatar(Protheans that embodied a single virtue for the society) of Vengeance, Javik is planned to go into stasis, along with other million soldiers and wait for The Reapers to leave and then be awaken by Victory, an Prothean AI, to dominate once more the galaxy under the Prothean Banner and await for the Next Reaper Cycle to come.

Unlike Ilos, however, the Bunker was breached, and the plan reduced to Ashes, forcing Victory to initiate a Neutron Purge. Javik then heads to the Stasis Pod, but the Purge damaged the Pod's Automatic Override, and now it can only be opened manually.

*Time passes, and the Reapers are now gone. The Team on Ilos reactivates the Conduit in order to go back to the Citadel to find for traces of Survivors. The Conduit is closed behind them, and the handful of the remaining Protheans are now stuck at the Space Station, unable to return...

Minor Update: 20/11/2015

  • 13.000 BCE

The Turians of Palaven begin to develop Civilization

  • 6000 BCE

Seeking to escape the imininent explosion of their homeworld's sun, the Virtual Aliens constructs an AI-managed Starship with Supercomputers that contain a virtual world and transfers their consciences into it. The Starship begins a Journey through the Galaxy, which lasts for the next 8.000 Years.

  • 1900 BCE

Tuchanka, the Krogan Homeworld, enters the nuclear age. With the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction on the planet surface, a Nuclear winter is triggered.

  • 1800 BCE

After a Supernova, the Mu Relay is put out of position. The relay's position is effectively lost for centuries, until a Rachni Team uncovers its location.

  • 580 BCE

So, what did you think? i'll Keep updating if the Reception for this is good. Plus, 2 days more till I go to vacations, so I can properly dedicate my time in this.

Cheers!

An interesting concept. Though IMO a large portion of it is irrelevant information not required for a newcomer to understand the story thus far.

Not thus far, no. But when I update it, including at least ME1, the player can assimilate, for example the Beacons, Ilos History and the game.

See, it also serves as a guide if you're kinda lost in the story, since the Universe includes lots of stuff that can be missed  or forgotten about and only be discovered after, say, 3 or 4 playthroughs later :)

I guess I was thinking of it more from the perspective of an introductory guide for newcomers who want a run-down on the story. I see your point and apologize for my misconception.

Nah, no problem, don't worry about it. :)

A nice summery but a few spelling and grammar errors scattered throughout.

There are also some words that make sentences seem odd.

I like the idea :)
Maybe you want to put a Spoiler alert somewhere? If this is intended for new users/fans to ME, maybe that will prevent them from spoilering themselves if they don't want to.

Since English isn't my native language, I admit that I do commit some errors that pass unnoticed by me. I want to say, if you see something wrong, mispelled or out of context, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix it. Thank you for your feedback :)

Thanks! Yes, I'll consider putting some spoiler Alerts after doing some revision in the OP. Thank you again!

Edit: Do you suggest I use Spoiler Brackets (like

Spoiler
or like ##Spoiler Alert ?

So, this thread didn't come out as I hoped(Maybe I'll finish the Galactic Backstory later)

But here we go again, the true timeline I was getting to:

Mass Effect: Revelation Prologue (2157)

With Humanity's Alliance first contact with an alien species, the Turians, who quickly opened fire on ships coming out of the relay 314, Admiral Jon Grisson help the recruitment effort and meets an eager young recruit named Anderson.

Mass Effect: Evolution (2157) (Issues 1-4)

A bunch of Human Mercenaries, led by Jack Harper, defend Shanxi and its people of Turian attacks. A turian named Desolas Arterius is captured and reveals a ruin uncovered by his people. Jack approaches the relic and is caught in its beam, incapacitating him, giving him a permanent blue glow in his eyes.

A Cease-Fire is agreed upon and Generall Williams manage to recover his people. With visions due to the artifact, Jack and Eva goes to Illium , but discover that the Turians laid a trap for him. They take them to the turian homeworld, Palaven, to a temple so that Desolas, acompanied by his brother, Saren Arterius will show him the real truth behind the artifact.

Jack manages to persuade Saren in seeing the wrong acts of what his brother was doing, which results in a firefight, leaving Jack and Saren as the only survivors.

Understanding that his friends died protecting humanity of the unknown, and recognizing that there is something greater than all of them, Jack Harper becomes the Illusive Man, the head of an organization called Cerberus and is determined to do everything to protect humanity.

--(So, this was a long one. I hope to continue with it. I'll  update more once I'm able to)

Corrections:

There is no evidence the Prothean Empire knew about the Reapers prior to the invasion. They were taken by surprise by the Reapers surging through the Citadel relay.

The Conduit was a prototype mass relay, the only known pair built by the Protheans and not the Reapers, a test platform for producing full size relays.

The beacon network was the galactic commnet that the Protheans built to keep their Empire together, much like the following cycle has the Extranet and FTL comm buoys.

This sort of thing just underlines how small the universe bioware created is, as it is a very small group of people involved in every galatic event.

Corrections:

1)There is no evidence the Prothean Empire knew about the Reapers prior to the invasion. They were taken by surprise by the Reapers surging through the Citadel relay.

2)The Conduit was a prototype mass relay, the only known pair built by the Protheans and not the Reapers, a test platform for producing full size relays.

3)The beacon network was the galactic commnet that the Protheans built to keep their Empire together, much like the following cycle has the Extranet and FTL comm buoys.

1) the Protheans did know of some mysterious thing that wiped out previous races because of innumerous ruins found by archeologist teams on different planets. They decided to prepare, but since they didn't really know when the Reapers were coming, they were caught off-guard.

2)I did say that the Conduit was built the Protheans... Could you specify where it says Reapers?

3)Oh yeah. Thanks. Correcting it now :)
