Closest thing is a ( semi-fling) between Fem-Shep and Kelly... which I did not bother with on this play through, I'm staying loyal to Liara.

Someone said there was dialogue recorded for a romance with Thane, but it doesn't seem to be in the game. And though the guide flat-out states that some characters can be romanced regardless of gender, it doesn't tell you which, and it doesn't seem to be in the game, either. Sadly, at least one of my mSheps will be going without a romance for another game...

To my knowledge, just Kelly Chambers. You can try it with Samara, but even though she's very tempted to 'tear all your clothes off and drag you to the floor', her vows forbid it.

I will be making a M/M gay romance patch for ME2.

It's actually quite simple. After a male character is made and designed, you set the internal gender flag of the male character to female. Then your "male" character can romance all the men he likes.

I did the same trick to DAO so a male character could romance and marry Alistair

I just got the game a a few hrs ago (been busy with star trek online), but I was already able to make a male character and manually "reassign" his gender flag.

The game wont care and still will display M/M scenes just like in DAO as the scenes are not hard coded video. They will use whatever character models are thrown into them. Give me 24-48 hrs and I'll have a post with instructions or a patch for DL. Then you all can enjoy all the M/M romance you like

only way to do a gay romance is to have the PC version and then edit the game.

Well if there is a save editor out there that does this. Then so much the better LOL.

What about a F/F one, wouldn't mind romancing Tali.

Sorry OP, you can only get that in Dragon Age, and editing the saves don't count (But that Tali on Garris stuff is still funny).

Aye correct , by changing the internet gender flag a "male" character can romance any male character and a "female" can romance the female ones design for men. Why BW did this is sort of beyond me seeing they had it enabled in DAO. and Aye correct, this can only be done on the PC, but if there is a save editor out there already that can swap the gender flag then there's nothing for me to write ;)

I call it the fox news effect, BioWare got scared after they made up all that crap about the first game and didn't want to have that happen again.

I have the save game editor, guess I'll need to look again because I didn't see that the first time using it.

Sadly there is no option in ME2.
Additionally because trolls managed to derrail the last threads on this topic Mr. Woo imposed a temporary moratorium on the issue, o if you want to discuss it please do so in the group forums till we get the OK to start a new thread here.

I've used the save game editor to 'gender change' before key conversations where the game performs the romance gender check. It works fine except: 1) you still sound like the opposite gender since the dialog wasn't recorded and 2) you look like the following gender changed:

^^ This is the result of switching my female character to a male in order to have the 'romance conversation' with a female squad member. Does anyone know if I can still switch my gender so the game recognizes my character as male but still keep the female body so my face doesn't get all screwed up?  This is a small problem because I just swtich back to female after the convo and my character looks OK again.

i'm sure there's a various ini file changes you can make, I mean last check they were able to completely change the player character to Tali, the thread is in general non spoiler forum if you're inclined to read it

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  I should pose my question over there.  The voice will still be off, but at least she'll look like a 'she' during the dialog with the ladies Image IPB

Since I only DLed the game last night and I will be starting play in a few mins. I will examine it. If it is s similar enginee to ME1, I'll be ok. If it's the same engine as DOA, then I can easily patch the game. However if there are audio voice overs, that will complicate matters a bit, but I was able to patch ME1 for same gender romancing and all the romance scenes were the same

I've been a computer programmer for 20+ yrs. So usually altering a game to fit my needs is a non issue. I only wished I had gotten it sooner so I would have had a chance to offer a patch to the gaming community.

THB. BW is also EA. Both dangle on the conservative/liberal fence and want to appease and not offend various audiences. FF is much more accepted in society.. so they weren't given much flack about the "FF" romance in ME1 (and let's be honest... they may have had no gender, but they LOOKED female). The only company I know to be FULLY open about issues like this is Lionhead who makes the Fabled series.

I assume Mr. Woo is a forum mod? The last time I've been on the BW forums was when I was playing DAO. Although I find it very ODD that BW has locked so many same gender discussions when they had no issues with such discussions in DOA (although that game did have *some* same gender romances built in).

If this thread gets locked, it gets locked. Once I have either found a work around where your char doesn't physically change gender and found an acceptable audio solution (be it no audio or audio replaced by text),  I will post it to the appropriate forum or as a public DLC option. Hell I know a friend who can mimmick almost anyone's voice... just might have them do the audio voice over and patch it in ;)

You must have to do something else in edit game other than gender change=

I did this and My male actually physically changed to female! Not what I thought would happen,

In DAO ALastair m/m romance was quite funny up until rejection for making him king.

The short answer, there are a few threads talking about this. There is no homosexual LI in Mass Effect 2. I personally wouldn't suggest altering the gamestate without modtools from Bioware, don't know what the repercussion would be trying to move your profile into ME3, if it ruins it so you cannot import any, then ya that would suck :-(

There are those out there that when a gay romance option is brought up they get all defensive and are like hell no my shepard isnt gay well of course not he is your shepard you make the choices it not like you would be forced into M/M or F/F romance or make one choice and all the sudden in a M/M or F/F physical situation the game just isn't structured that way. In ME1 and ME2 the "sex" scene between shepard and the love intrest happens before the last mission and in ME2 it gives you an out if you deside who you been romancing you dont want them you can break it off and choose another or nobody at all. So in my opinion those who dont want a gay shepard dont really have a leg to stand on where as those who do want the option do have a leg to stand on cause it would add more dimention, make it more diverse, and all the threads that have been started by people just trying to be heard that they want the option. I am surre all will agree ME games are all about having options and choosing which options you will choose and how it affects there game
