Been up and down the net looking for the answer, and haven't found an answer that addresses this exact issue. My apologies if it is on this forum somewhere, but I wasn't able to find it.
I bought the physical retail version of ME2 and am trying to install it onto a newer Windows 7, 64, rig. Anyway, I get about 15% into the install and it quits due to a "Data Error". I have no anti-virus or other software running. I've copied the files to my HD and tried to install from there. Same result. I tried running in various compatibility modes. Same result.
Thinking it may be defective disks, I tried to install on my Vista 64 laptop (which doesn't have the specs to actually run the game) and it installed fine, so it's not the disks.
I recently installed ME1 on my Windows 7 gaming maching and it installed fine (as has every other game I own), so there seems to be some specific incompatibility between the ME2 installer and Windows 7, 64.
Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated.

I'm getting the same problem. Tried the same approaches too, turned off anti-virus, copy to hd, create iso, etc etc...

had this, the solution is to manually unpack the files from the disk - http://www.mmorpg.co...m/thread/183338 (for the precise instructions)

it's on here too actually, there's another thread discussing this issue

Thanks for the tip. Got it working using a second computer and sharing its DVD drive with my gaming rig.
