hehe i still haven't been able to unlock the geth juggernaut. Yes another baddie that wants the real tank. And sync kill immunity... oooh i want that. uuhhh on topic, rng is fun in the beginning but gets frustrating later as you gamble to get that damn character/weapon.
NOW I like the RNG

The Geth Juggy gets a lot of flack. Well, he used to, but mostly people seem to be over it, now.
The Juggy can be useful for a player making transitions, but I think he needs to be used carefully to make sure that he is a learning tool, and not a crutch that's going to hold you back in the long run.
Taking a Juggy into Platinum accounted for probably 6 of my first 7 extractions (not including speedruns, which are a very different thing.) But during that time, I wasn't really learning how to play Platinum, even though it probably helped me improve at playing the Juggy a little bit. What it did do, though, is give me a chance to see Platinum in action first-hand, instead of from spectator mode. And there's no question you're getting a better sense of what you'll need to tackle Platinum if you're actually playing it over simply watching it played by someone else.
Beyond that, he's just fun because you can LAUGH AT THAT PRAETORIAN. GO AHEAD. HIT ME. YEAH. HIT ME AGAIN. I LOVE IT. OOH ANOTHER. DO YOU LIKE THAT? ARE YOU TRYING TO SYNCH KILL ME NAO PRAETORIAN? ARE YOU? IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? HANG ON. WE'RE ALMOST THERE. KEEP TRYING. Okay now you're finally dead. On to the next. Where's he? Across the map? Oh, forget that. I'll just wait here for the next spawn.

I agree on the Medigel point.
The other points though,
learning also means that you have to lack something, in order to understand better what you'd need it for. And most importantly:
you'll value the weapon upgrades more when you finally get them.
And aren't those sweet moments ? each time ?
Yesterday I played with a friend who said he got a Quatrillion credits through a hacked PUG Game. Suddenly he has the best equipment after only 2 months of being in the Multiplayer! The first feeling that came to me was feeling sorry for him.
And besides: Knowing what I know now about the game and its mechanics: Seriously, I am quite sure that I would top score a lot of times with noob-equipment. Of course I'll admit that making use of Biotic Explosions is a very important thing in this scenario.
And I'll admit that with certain characters you are not very competitive on gold and platinum if you only have beginner-equipment.
But the Vanillas do already offer plenty of options there.
Learning the game is one thing. The game's mechanics actively hurting your play though without X bonus or X mod or X weapon how ever does. As it severely limits your combat ability.
Single shot snipers are rendered almost useless thanks to shield gate effect.
Most guns are rendered completely ineffective without AP mod/gear against armored targets at higher levels.
Juggernaut gear bonus boosting shields 16% and melee damage 8% can mean the difference between my krogan solider killing a mook in one hit or needing 2 hits.Which renders his heavy melee less useful when surrounded by groups. Reducing it's usefulness to only 1 vs 1 set ups. Or risk someone taking the kill from you. Which will prevent you from entering enraged mode.
Increase slots for rockets, medi gels and ammo boosts allow you to take a bit more risk and be slightly less punished for your actions if you goof up.
Learning takes time and it is all the more frustrating when the game punishes you for not being the best right out of the gate.
Your example about the player cheating their balls off for items isn't a very good comparison to feel bad about. I'm not talking about someone cheating so you feel bad they will never know difficulty. I'm talking about the game being very unfair combined with the average player being well there are a lot of jokes about PUG matches on forums.
I'd say you try and start over again but knowledge you have gained helps a lot. And lets you work though the pain in the rear it is to start up. But take someone brand new to the MP side. Have no knowledge about the MP side and get nothing but PUG games. With no friends to tell or train them. And see how much fun they like it. Which is a reality players do deal with. And it was frustrating as all hell.
The RNG of items and weapons in this game only becomes bare able and even a bit fun after a certain point. When you have gathered enough weapons, mods, bonus gear to be able to deal damage and kill guys effectively enough a standard Cerberus mook isn't considered a major threat on silver. I mean I like the game now and unlocking new weapon or new character is fun. But at the start I wanted to kick every developer in the balls with steel tipped boots for all the frustration it gave.
Monetary system and RNG rewards can both be done for an online game and be fine. This game how ever is the poster child for how not to do it because everything is RNG.
I really do hope they address this if ME:A has an MP side similar to this. I'd rather much have items like Bonus Gear Pack. That depending on tier will randomly reward me with items like AP bonus or increased bitotic damage rewards. With higher most costly tiers offering me higher level ones.
Medi gels and rockets would like wise be tiered with each pack getting more expensive but giving you more per pack.
Weapon and mod unlocks would be similar random set up with tiered priced. Giving me a random ultra rare weapon or leveling it up if I specifically pick Ultra rare weapon pack. Which would cost significantly more then Common weapon pack.
I could go on but these are just small examples of ways to have both money and RNG, and consumable items in game without kicking new players who can't afford to spend large sums of in game money in the teeth before they gain those necessary items to be even mildly competitive in game.

Shield Gate is not much of a problem on Bronze. Why do you want to go directly on gold ?
For those however, who move from console to PC (e.g.) it may be a little tedious at the beginning - I agree.
Juggernaut gear 16%, ... etc. ?
I don't think that such things are game-breaking but of course gear can make a difference in certain situations.
That's why we want to have it, right? So let's play and be happy when that moment comes.
There is another recent thread about RNG.
I think that the consensus was that RNG must not necessarily be the "Devil" -
however, in the case of Mass Effect RNG there are lots of things which should be modified and improved.

Gold is as I've found the best way to actually earn money in this game to buy upgrade packs. Particularly were you will wake away with a net gain instead of loss of one time bonus gear.
Shield gate doesn't exist on bronze. But it does start to show it's strips on silver. Which starts the hampering of of play styles without certain weapons or certain weapon mods.
Juggernaut gear bonus is just a small example of how small things like that can end up changing how you play and how effective your play style is. And how the asinine unlock system causes so much problems.

So yeah I unlocked the Carrier and Piranha in one Arsenal Pack.
What are the odds of that happening, anyway?
Ding Dong the RNG wicked witch is dead! Now get them to X10 ![]()

...but...
...when I honestly and objectively reflect on the RNG system as a whole and try to ignore my *personal* desires (as much as that is possible) I must admit that I think it works pretty darn well.
The lottery system:
- helps to keep me interested and motivated. If I could take on the quest for acquiring the Lancer X I want so badly and just work/save up to get it, as if it were part of the challenge point system, I'd have done so already, just like I did with the BotB. If I'm honest, I'd have done the grinding, got the gun(s) and I'd be significantly less interested in this game. And I actually have set up an alt account in the recent past, along with buddy Ddawg74 (his alt called "Sweet" , mine "Dude") and what I found is that, right from the start, once leveled up, we each had the skillset such that there was no trouble dominating Silvers with basic kits and no mods - but more importantly, ddawg has stuck with his alt specifically because of the excitement of receiving new gear and guns and kits in the store. (I enjoyed that too - for about a week - until I just wanted to go back to my original account due to its much closer proximity to the Lancer X)
- helps to keep many, perhaps most, players playing in their proper setting...well, those with any sense of shame, personal dignity and self-respect. I suspect that *most* of the intelligent, worthy people playing this game are not the pond-scum leechers that one encounters semi-regularly infesting golds/plats. Most of those asshats are...well, asshats - some are probably kids, tho, and may not know any better. But my point is this: Most of the time the lottery system does function pretty well in keeping folks playing Bronze (then Silver) when their skills AND loadout are Bronze worthy. It worked on me - I played a mess o' bronze and only very carefully advanced up the ladder. I didn't want to look/feel stupid by playing (or rather bleeding out) above my pay grade. And yes, sometimes I get monumentally aggravated by the asshat noobs rolling into a gold/plat equipped with both the default lvl1 weapons on their vanilla adept - they are what is wrong with the world/capitalism/race-gender-relations/etc, they are responsible for Donald Trump and "Reality TV" and cereal that gets soggy in milk and I often wish I could beat them to death with the severed head of Simon Cowell...BUT, they are still relatively few in number simply because there is no long-term fun to be had in leeching and it is much more fun to play at the level that your skill AND gear dictate.
I could go on, but I'm already well past the Golden TLDR Line, so I'll save my other points for another day/post. In conclusion, I'd just offer this: if one honestly tries to set aside their issues with what the store has/hasn't given them, perhaps it might become apparent that the RNG store system is a rather successful way to push things towards balance. Maybe the RNG store is, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, like democracy...the worst system of government except for all the others.

I did max The Javelin and Wraith in one Spectre pack and have no real complaints about the troll store
Funny thing. Once I got two Typhoon upgrades from a PSP and for that time I had no complaints either.
But somehow, the store knows what you want and you'll get it last.

Mostly I've just been buying the Recruit and Veteran packs so far, but I splurged on two Specter packs and got the Crusader and the Wraith! Thank you RNG!
