I liked the Merrill romance, though I always had a problem with her being a blood mage.  Now I'm doing Isabela and that's been fun, but it's harder to win her approval as opposed to Merrill.  I wish the Isabela love scene was steamier.

 

I just can't do the men, but if I did, Sebastian would seem the best option.  Anders is nuts and Fenris wants to kill all mages.  I ended up killing Fenris at the end of my first run because of his anti-mage obsession.  Even when you're trying to treat him well, you build up rivalry points.

He dont want to kill all mages... He dont hate all mages. He just fear from the magic, and from the weak mages.

Remember: Fenris gain +5 approves, if Hawke prevent Anders/Vengeance to killing Ella. Ofc: Ella is a mage. (If Anders kill Ella, Fenris gain +10 rivalry!)

 

And: Fenris like mage Hawke so much, if Hawke do not annoy Fenris.

 

(And: if Hawke "do not throw fireballs in his glass house" – maybe this is the point, because my Hawke are blood mage, not fire mage... Seems: Fenris do not like fire mages... )

Sebastian what from better than Merrill or/and Fenris? Sebastian are vengeful. Ok, he is a prince... thats a point

Haha Anders is second to last behind Sebastian. I'll only stick around long enough to say that if your Hawke is just as much of a revolutionary as he is, the two of you get to ride off into the sunset as the Team Rocket of mage freedom.

Anders and Isabella : I dislike the way they stalk you the moment your recruit them. I mean, guys, come on, we just met... after playing some time with them, I have to say I like them more, Isabela has also a nice design and Anders is finally a cool guy but... well, no.

Merril: was really nice, I thought I could try something with her but her fascination for blood magic bother me and I don't agree with her choices, so nope.

And then comes Fenris, I like his design, the romance is not too slow and not too fast, also I think I have a thing for bad guys or tortured characters. I've tried and... I like it !

Sebastian... dlc character  ? Don't have him on my team, I couldn't say.

I went with Fenris because he's just so hot and intense.  Also, I play Hawke as a male mage, and I just love the idea of what that dynamic must be like.  My headcanon is that Fenris had a sort of Night Porter type of thing with Danarius going and can't help but be attracted to male mags, though he also hates them.

For myself, it is Aveline; possibly the best romance story I have seen in a game. It broke my heart and could only go through it once, but it is highly memorable, realistic, and well written.

Nope. I mean that Aveline gives the whole 'Just Friends' approach to an interested Hawke. It was about as realistic and heartbreaking as real life events. I certainly did not expect it to occur either.

Have you seen that buzzcut in Trespasser's epilogue? Hawke dodged a bullet there.

Some women look alright that way, but when you have Aveline's jaw and that huge chin, well... let's just say that Donnic might visit Fenris for less masculine company as Isabela suggested.

I don't have Tresspasser, but... Damn. Bioware is obsessed with these weird hairstyles.

Dunno, I have only completed this game once and romanced Isabella. I felt she was really shallow and uninteresting compared to Morrigan from DAO where I was extremely invested. Outside of her looks, I find little redeeming about Isabella. She's not funny, clever, or anything. Aveline is funnier than her and she's not a romance option. Plus, I totally didn't dig the fact that she was so selfish in act 2, especially after everything you did for her. And she technically caused the mess in the first place.

 

Merill seems funny and interesting. But she's way too selfish and won't listen to reason. I looked up her romance and its ok. Still nothing great, but I think can be a tad better than Isabella. I know everyone is bisexual, but I only romance opposite gender.

I am a bit tempted to create a fem Hawke and romance Fenris based on all the positive comments he gets for his romance.

I like to play heterosexual characters so its Merrill for male Hawke and Fenris for female Hawke. Anders is a terrorist who is obsessed with freedom to the point of provoking unnecessary war with no proper planning or tactics and Isabela is an STD ridden sl*t who does not practice proper hygiene.

Anyway, Fenris is awesome. So awesome that I've only ever romanced him. I have a partially finished Hawke who romanced Izzy, but like I said it not finished (and probably never will be).

Isabela simple not interest as romance, Merrill are cute, I have a male Hawke, who romanced her, but I prefered m/m romances. Anders my second love, but i left him for Fenris (I finished the romance with him only once). Fenris gives much more (and simple hot...).

Also, I think it looks silly when he gets pushed up against the wall by my Hawke. Or any kissing between them for that matter. So much so, that I had to download a mod that gives him....more substance in the body department. But alas, I never finished a playthrough with him as the LI. I just couldn't.

 

Never did the others. I only play as straight females. Because I am one. And I think Sebastian is ridiculous.

I play as straight males and females within game; it gives me a new perspective and i like it, lol.

My straight Hawke was a my Male Mage Hawke who romanced Isabela, and i don't overly regret it, to be honest.
