I would really like andromeda multiplayer to be a bit more sniper-friendly. Most of the best/easiest places to hold down are just small rooms.

I was a camper for much of the first year. It has always been a viable strategy, although it is obviously slower and less effective on the vast majority of maps.
Of course, I would never be caught dead camping now. Except in Platinum. Or against Collectors. Or whenever I feel like it.
Hey, sometimes I feel lazy. Why should I do all the legwork if I can make them come to me?
I can't count the number of times that I have played games on Reactor where the PUGs want to camp in the low area between the reactor and extraction. Then they get an Atlas blocking off the Reactor and some Phantoms/Goons coming down the stairs behind them and get slaughtered. Some games, they will refuse to budge from that area no matter what happens, and I'll find myself camping around the extraction zone to suppress that spawn just to save the team.

Well planning a nice camp is fun IMO, especially when it's a biotic camp, just place a biotic bubble, a singularity and have fun !
I feel nobody camps anymore, cuz it's reguarded as extremely noob, but it requires planning and a (bit) of strategy. Camping on platinum is not always that easy (ok 4 puggernauts don't count).

It takes some serious team to hold the line in Platinum. No Puggernauts allowed, well said. But it can be craaaaazy fun.

It seems to me from my somewhat limited experience with platinum that camping is a more dominant strategy. Experienced players will pretty much stay in the same spot with an advantage point over enemy spawns. I have especially noticed this on "solo-friendly" maps like Giant and White.
My latest PUG example: 4 players camping at the sniper spot in front of the LZ on White. I set up a bubble blocking the doorway and a Talon Merc filled it with cain trip mines. Anything closing in from outside would get shot. Enemies from the interior would get blown up.
Maybe it's just coincidence or maybe I just noticed this behavior because I've played all those bronze/silver games where pugs run around like headless chickens...

My latest discovery is a team of snipers that camp at the spawn in London. With one or thwo recon mines it gets super easy, ennemies come from afar and there is plenty of cover (and soft cover).

Hmm. I am congenitally incapable of deliberately picking London, but if I ever get stuck there with my Drell Assassin, I will consider trying this for at least a few waves.
