Why is the rto release for pc and ps3 related to xbox 360 title update? Are we to expect updates to PC and possibly PS3 too?

They all release on the same day.  So, if hte xbox is waiting for the title to release with RtO, other platforms wait as well

Seems like _all_ of the delays have been for the Xbox to catch up.  Can't recall any Xbox releases being delayed to wait for PC or PS3 to catch up.

Doesn't it make you feel all special and warm 'n' fuzzy inside, being a PC or PS3 owner?

For sure, though the PS3 from what I understand is an absolute nightmare to develop for. I'd imagine that prolly has alot to do with it.

Now now, "absolute nightmare" is a gross exaggeration spread by ultra-lazy pc-integralist developers like fatso Gabe Newell that would die before learning a new architecture. Proof is that other developers reach amazing results with the PS3, and without that many delays.
Probably the problem has most to do with the fact that Bioware is still "newbie" in developing for the PS3, learning a new architecture takes time, resources and effort, no matter how good that architecture is. After all Bioware used to be a partner of Microsoft and a PC/360 only developer.  It's a good thing that they are actually very willing to do learn, as opposed to the aforementioned fatso, that gets no respect for me for his lazyness.

Really the only reason at all I'm bothered by it in the first place is
the PC users were assured that the multi platform situation wouldn't
affect the PC, sadly its not the case.

This. Broken promises are really a nice thing. It's a pity, but gotta be happy with what we get.

I'll work on seeing what kind of timeframe there is for PS3, but I likely won't have any info to update until tomorrow at the earliest, and even then the best I can hope for is a very rough estimate.

Thank you for the update. I will politely suggest that it is PR good practice to have your own website reflect updates before journalists do. It will contribute to making your site the prime source of up-to-date information, as well as reassure loyal fans that you actually care about them "more" than you do about the side market the gaming media is targeted towards.

Also, can I please ask what is the holdup with PS3 release? Is this a contractual issue, a development issue, or a certification issue?

Thanks for the update Victor!  I'm not sure why the XBox update means we PC players can't get it; I imagine it has to do with some deal with Microsoft.  Still, good to know it hasn't been forgotten.

While I'm glad its finally officially coming. Its pretty obvious that the 360 is dictating DLC release dates. Pretty crappy that the PC users are at the whim of console certification processes.

The PC is still getting it before the PS3. so you should be happy about that.

I believe that Sony's certification process is longer than the PC or XBox, which is why the PS3 gamers are getting it later.

This is why I'm glad I only have 360. I've never been a PC gamer whatsoever.

Either way, as everyone else has said, thanks for the update, Victor.

Thankyou for the update.
This whole RtO mess has, for me been disappointing and i hope lessons have been learned and this type of thing doesn't happen again.

Yipee, the 1000s of threads every day about RtO can stop now.

But probably wont. :kissing:

No, they'll just convert to complaining about content instead of availability. OMG! I'm psychic! ;)

Is anyone else reminded of what Team Gizka did (or is doing) to their kotor 2 fans?

Team Gizka adopted a policy of not giving any updates whatsoever, and when they did give one, it was invariably along the lines of:

"Stop whining you *******, it will be done WHEN IT'S DONE !"

If you think I'm exaggerating, head on over to their website.

There are two extremes when it comes to keeping your fans informed. Both can potentialy hurt you.

-- one is to give frequent updates, and then get some serious heat when you fail to deliver.

-- the second is to reveal nothing, and tell them "when it's done!"

Which method hurts more? I don't know, but something tells me that a middle ground is ideal (as usual.)

You forgot one: Where the game writers don't say anyting at all about ANYTHING until it is ready for release. My example is Half-life 2. Other than the leak, nobody new of any sequel in the works.

Do you have any information for those of us who already have Return to Ostagar, like if we will have to re-download it or what not?

Also I really enjoyed RtO!

I'm also curious about this...

Aah, all this waiting has made me lose most of the excitement for RtO. I'll get it eventually but it won't be for a while, not that Bioware would care as they have had my money since January 5th.

Hey, as a PS3 owner. I don't care about RtO (although I'm sure others do, so don't think I represent all PS3 owners, I'm sure many are angry/anxious for it).

Do we get the patch, with the dex fix, and the deathblow fix, among others, when the 360 gets it? It would be absolutely pathetic if we don't. The patch shouldn't have been released with RtO in the first place, but as soon as it was ready.

I want to solo rogue. I want to Dex Dual Wield Warrior. I can't, because you guys have delayed the patch.

Hopefully, you didn't read any of that into my post ;)

I'd love to give a date. But the testing and release process aren't set up to do that. When it passes testing, we're launching it asap. The best indicator we can give is very very soon. Obviously, we're hoping the stars align and we get it out on the front end of soon.

And I get that communication has been iffy for a while now. That's part of why I was brought on, to help sort through it. It's not an overnight process, though. There's history and traditional processes at work, and a lot of layers of complexity to find the right places to go to keep you updated. But the team is committed to seeing that through, and helping achieve that, even if it hurts a little bit getting there.

Don't expect us to get perfect overnight, but you can be sure that we want to keep improving. I'll consider it a big win when we get to the point that these updates are consistent, and you all know which day to expect them.
