I suspect The Powers That Be at Bioware were reluctant to release the RtO DLC for PC so far ahead of the 360 and PS3 releases because they want the users of *ALL* platforms to have a chance to enjoy the novelty of the DLC simultaneously. I play DA:O on the PC, but I can understand how badly it would suck for non-PC users to run into all the "inadvertant" spoilers, half-spoilers and outright, blatant "I-Experienced-This-First!" spoilers that seem to get posted in improper forum channels immediatly after a new release.
It sucks for those of us that can be counted on to keep our own individual pieholes firmly shut, but Bioware has to plan around the Lowest Common Denominator (i.e. 11-year old Jimmy who thinks that everyone wants a blow-by-blow posting in every forum channel about how he skillfully beat RtO in three hours afer gold release on Normal setting)...
Which is why it was puzzling to alot of us since they assured us that the consoles would never impeed the PC users. Either the higher ups at EA decided to change that, or there was some non disclosed agreement signed with Microsoft, which in either case its really a shame that the longtime PC fans that pretty much got Bioware to where they are now esentially get the shaft to some extent.

I costantly navigate spoiler-ridden forum. When I see a sentence that could very easily progress into something that could spoil my game, I simply stop reading. A bit of willpower and your game is safe. It's really that simple.
Honestly spoilers are very overrated. It's so easy to avoid reading them, that if bioware actually thought to break the promise they made to PC users for that silly of a reason, i'd have to laugh.

Sure, but here again we are dealing with the Lowest Common Denominator factor. While one *can* avoid spoilers, not everyone *does* - and many of those that run afoul of random spoilers tend to make their dissatisfaction known to everyone, including Bioware. After all, it's MUCH easier on one's ego to blame someone else for tainting their gameplay enjoyment than it is to admit that one did not apply adequate personal discipline and due dilligence in avoiding random spoilers in the first place.
Never underestimate the ability of the masses in influencing the way a developer approaches the dissemination of new gameplay content.

what i don't get is that you keep locking threads when you know a majority of us here are pissed about the fact that we had to wait for you to say something about what was going on, and now after all the waiting you FINALLY say something and you expect us to be happy about it? RtO better be free at this rate. it is bad enough someone is sueing Microsoft over the Points system. i hate to see someone decide to do the same thing here due to lack of communication.
seems to be common when it comes to game developers- screw communication as long as we get our money-

Oh, wonderful.
My favorite thing about RtO coming out is that there will no longer be 5 threads a day on this damn thing.
Yeah, thing is it has already been release for several weeks now.

I'd love to give a date. But the testing and release process aren't set up to do that. When it passes testing, we're launching it asap. The best indicator we can give is very very soon. Obviously, we're hoping the stars align and we get it out on the front end of soon.

Have you considered voodoo? Sometimes, killing a chicken is more effective than waiting for astrological harmony...
...honestly tho... Mass Effect 2 is out now... so take your time on RtO... we'll be gnawing that bone that bioware just tossed us for a while...

The progress of Mass Effect had to influence on RtO. There are two different teams working.

Yeah the point system is pointless. lol...
it is a large part of discontent here, i believe. I mean the RtO was anounced in november and the web site started pretending to sell it... but sold points... EA has had our money for a long time now with out any consequence or product....
Also. some moderators seem to enjoy squashing the conversations when they include discontent. very draconian. and very disenfranchizing when the forums are our mode of feed back to BW... not that the recent communications are unappreciated...
Finally, I'd say for some of us RtO is allready an Epic Fail. How many times do we play through the story and still get excited about starting over for some new armor... BioWare Should have had this ready to go before the release of DA:O. so that they could provide it a few weeks after the DA:O release. Perhaps, they (EA?) need stop considering a "release date" for their games and start considering a "launch date" like MMO's do. Today's gaming world is connected; releasing a game is no longer the end of the process. The support system for "live" content needs to be inplace before games go live (or attempt to go live).
These comments are meant as constructive feedback to the developers and publishers... you guys have been involved with a lot of games... really good ones... so one one hand: we can forgive a little failure. on the other hand... it is surprising that RtO and the entire DLC thing was handled so poorly.

:unsure:Not sure what you mean.
My comment was related to the Mass Effect 2 is out.... so there are many hours of new game content out...
thus, for many BioWare Fans, RtO is irrellevant now. it might as well come out next year when we are playing DA:O for nostalgia's sake... the RtO team failed.
