Very true and correct, but do not underestimate the power of 50 thousand 9 year old xbox users who need their gamertag updating
There is that.
Nothing like an outraged internet kid with way too much time on his hands to show the rest of us what's really important.

So what so special about 360 users that they get a thread all to themselves and everyone else is ignored?
And honestly, is this sort of comment really necessary? You're ignored by what? Not having a new release date?
You're aware, I assume, that the console versions of the game still include bugs that never existed on the PC? You're aware that they also have bugs that were squashed on the PC almost immediately? You're aware that the "unexpectedly" released 360 patch essentially broke the game for those who downloaded it?
I'm a PC gamer first and foremost myself, but the way some (not most, obviously) PC players treat console DA players on these forums is absolutely absurd. A dose of perspective would be welcome. (And, on a nicer note, a sincere thanks to the many posters out there who go out of their way to help out cross-platform players, one way or the other.)

This is the kind of statement that starts flame wars. Nobody has questioned the 360 itself but then you come in and claim its a piece of junk. Doesn't really contribute anything and there is no need to post that kind of message.Valmy wrote...
There are alot of 360 users?
Why there are is beyond me. The X-Box has always been a piece of junk but hey to each their own.

I'd like to see a patch that fixes existing bugs rather than getting all this hogwash about trying to sell us further products that no doubt have issues all of their own.

Poisd2Strike wrote more drooling nonsense
Oh goodness, I cannot believe that after the locking of a thread you're just moving your ego trips to this one (in a forum section dedicated only to announcements, by the way) just in order to perpetuate your personal attacks. This is massively funny.
I am sure Victor appreciates your patronizing tone, insinuating you could have done his job much better than he, and your hollow appreciation / backhanded thanks for the effort he put into getting you this information. You patronize him, on the one hand, and then immediately turn around and thank him for his efforts, on the other. Next time try making your lack of sincerity a little less transparent, and Victor might actually believe you appreciate what he did for you and us.
I'm sure Victor is perfectly able to decide by himself what to believe or what not to believe without your very interested help.
As for me, I'm quite grateful to victor for his effort, and defended him quite a few times. You would have noticed it if you weren't so self-absorbed in writing useless and overly wordy walls of text in order to flame me (and failing at it, I might add).
On the other hand, I think this situation could have been handled better. And I'm not the only one that thinks that.
I am sure your presence, in this thread, will be no different then your presence in the other: Full of 'smug pollution' and 'predictable pratter'. You might want to seek some professional help for what is clearly an obsession for you. Now to address some of the points you made:
More insults and personal attacks. You sure put a lot of effort into it, what you lack, though, is a bit of imagination, not to mention, of course, brevity.
Funny that you talk about pollution though. After the other thread you polluted, you had to come and pollute this one.
While being part of a larger parent company (EA) does not mean Bioware lost all decision making power, it also does not mean Bioware did not lose any decision making power. Do you seriously believe Bioware gave up no decision making power when it was acquired by EA? Bioware could have opposed the idea for an SLR / NDA with Microsoft or Sony and EA, for monetary reasons or otherwise, could have over-ruled Bioware's opposition to the deal. You might want to check with Origin on the status of the next Ultima game or Pandemic on the status of the next Full Spectrum Warrior game and get their input on how a company like EA works. Oh wait, you can't. EA acquired both Origin and Pandemic, in Pandemic's case as part of the Bioware acquisition ($800 million for both Bioware and Pandemic) and subsequently closed down both Origin and Pandemic. Some workers were absorbed into other divisions within EA and others were simply SOL. So yea, EA is clearly open to suggestions from companies it has acquired 'given the way companies like EA work'. That was sarcasm, by the way, in case you missed it.
You might want to notice that Pandemic and Origin haven't been closed down because they dared to discuss some mighty trickled down decision from EA. They have been closed down because they were unproductive, and as well documented in case of Origin, quite messy in their administration.
I'm sure EA is SO gonna consider closing down one of their most productive and successful studios (Bioware) if they dare to discuss a business decision, isn't it?
Sorry but this comparison was utterly laughable.
Since you work in Marketing (not game development), you also are not privy to the certification process. When did you last submit content to Microsoft / Sony for certification? I will readily admit that I am not "privy" either, but I put forth a theory as to how such a certification process most likely works; mainly that a Game Developer is not given a firm set date for when they can expect their review to be complete. My theory was confirmed by a Bioware Rep (Victor Wachter) who is privy to the Microsoft / Sony certification process.
Victor talked about their internal testing. As a matter of fact, yes, i am privy to Microsoft and Sony's certification process, and yes, they do give you a schedule. The schedule can undergo changes in the case they find problems, but when you submit something, they give you a timeframe in which they'll probably be done.
You know, the "big boys" tend to do that when they work with each other. It's not your place, anyway, to discuss my personal resume.
Oh and by the way, the dictionary disagrees with your definition of "mislead"
Adj.1.misleading
- designed to deceive or mislead either deliberately or inadvertently; "the deceptive calm in the eye of the storm"; "deliberately deceptive packaging"; "a misleading similarity"; "statistics can be presented inways that are misleading"; "shoddy business practices"
"Either deliberately or inadvertently". Chris didn't delibrately mislead us. It was done inadvertently, but it still was done, and directly caused us to buy the points. You trying to play with sophistries and semantics (wrong semantics, I'd add) doesn't change this fact, and the fact that an ethical business should take responsibility for misleading his customers.
Considering that modern laws are largely based upon morals / ethics and even (to some extent) traditional Judeo / Christian beliefs, hence "murder" being illegal, your statement that "Ethics and law have very little to do with each other" is patently false.
You say you studied contract law, but you don't seem to know the law very well (i can just giggle at how you seem to mistake ethics for religion by the way). Most of civil and business law is made to facilitate relationships, not necessarily reflecting ethics, or even more, keeping a much less restrictive level to that of ethics.
You can be a citizen or business perfectly abiding to the laws, but you can at the same time have an unethical behavioir.
Abriael_CG wrote... I would not be suprised at all if in your point of view, there are no "difficult" customers only Companies that aren't doing enough to satisfy their customers. I hate to upset that delicate belief system, regarding customer satisfaction, but "The Customer is not always right".
Customers asking for informative communication on a product they already paid for definitely don't figure between any definition of "difficult" customers.

As several others have pointed out, you might want to point that mirror at yourself. And you might want to offer an apology, or at least a sincere "thank you", to Victor for his efforts.
You're in no position to say if my thanks to Victor are sincere. As a matter of fact, they're very sincere. On the other hand, I'm much less thankful towards the higher ups at Bioware, that are the ones that handled this situation in a very poor way, putting their community manager (Victor) in a difficult position, I might add.
While you would argue that Bioware should never have entered into an SLR / NDA, and that is certainly a valid point, I would argue that Bioware should never have promised that one platform (PC) would be given preferential treatment to two others platforms (Xbox 360 and PS3), as far as DA: Origins and any future updates / patches, DLC or Expansions is concerned. My money, after all, is the same color as your's; so to speak. I would also argue this point even if Bioware's chosen "preferred" platform was my own (Xbox 360).
Bioware delayed the game six months for PC users in order to appease console gamers, so yes. I think the decision to give the PC platform priority is entirely justified and should be mantained. Console gamers have very little to complain, given that in most cases with other games they're the ones given priority (assassin's creed 2 is a good example). Your money is the same? Sure it is. It's not like you'll never get your product and your patches. You're just getting them later, like PC users do in pretty much the whole rest of the multiplatform market.
Weren't you the one advocating patience?

On a side note... yes, Bioware lied when they said that PC would not be affected at all by console development and release. They might have not done it intentionally, it is still untrue.
However at this point, there is little we can expect. I think that I would prefer to be told frankly "well we have simultaneous release agreements that we have to honor" and that would be it.
If the pc users don't like that, it is understandable, but there is nothing to do but admit that is how the market works and see that slowly but surely pc and console are mixing up. That need not be a bad thing! Once pc devs learn the console process well, there will be no difference... and hopefully good games will get bigger budgets to deliver better experiences
Communication and information, on the other hand, are important things: manage consumer expectations to obtain the evangelist and repeat sale.

If RTO has been delayed this long does it also mean the DA A will be also delayed?
I doubt it. Awakenings is being done by a different team and has probably been in development for a lot longer than RTO. I would shudder to think that the same issues would plague something so completely unrelated in development.

9 pages of nonsense (no offense to the ones that actually brought something to the table)
maybe we can find a way to make the 'Rite of the Tranquil' a real thing and have it as an update for the whining people on the forums. I have DA:O for my ps3 and ME2 for my PC, yeah i am not happy about the update for us being up in the air, but i have had ME1 to play in the meantime since i paused my DA:O waiting for RTO. People that complain seem to be the ones that are on an allowance and don't have access to the money required to buy another game. Hell i finished Darksiders and Bayonetta between the time of RTO being pulled and ME2 coming out. Go to Blockbuster or whatever your local rental place is and find something to play in the meantime.

@ The rest of you.. Seriously, get lives. While I don't mean to discount the high quality of this game, there are other things to do than sit around pining over DLC. Play a refresher round of Mass Effect for the upcoming release of it's sequel or something. Return to Ostagar will be ready when it is ready, and there isn't any measure of complaining about how long it's taking or which platforms get it first or when that will change that. I'm a PS3 user, I have no idea when my DLC is coming out. And I frankly do not care enough to check a forum every day to find out. I'll be happy to spend the $5 when it does. It never ceases to amaze me how dumb people can be.
It is not worth an intelligent person's time to be a part of the majority. By definition, enough people already do that.
