Things mentioned for those who can't watch the video:

  • 2 Squad mates as before, a human blonde and a krogan mentioned
  • All squad mates have jetpacks which come into play in exploration
  • Omnitool has more functionality, for example a combat shield
  • Greater detail in character facial features and models
  • Destructible covers (Yay Frostbite!)
  • Completely different ship (I take it as a step away from the frigate sized ship that we saw in Normandy and towards a larger ship, perhaps the one seen here )
  • Hints at Mako customization
  • 'Pathfinder quarters' section in the ship
  • Main character is referred to as 'the pathfinder'
  • Story revolves around finding a new home for humanity and other races
  • New ship travel system (Instead of the old galaxy map) where you manually fly the ship
  • Enemies (the main opposing force I assume) are bipedal cross between Vorcha and Collectors
  • The (non-human) enemies drop into combat from Cerberus ships (I would assume a placeholder, but if it's not then it gets interesting)
  • One of the antagonists is a human soldier with armor similar to yours but without N7 insignia

(Thanks to DealWithTheC-12 for the writing version)

This is less a leak and more someone watching the trailers, reading the previews and playing the previous games.

This. There's no reason to flip out yet.

That's like telling BSN to not take a comment out of context :P

we must find a new home for all races and have a non-human squadmates

this is stupid to be limited as only human hero

What does one have to do with the other? A human can't lead a team that's part of a colonization effort because other races need planets to colonize? That's moronic.

I've got to say, if Cerberus is the antagonist again, I think that's probably going to stop this from being a full price purchase for me.

I'm not going to say "I'm not buying it!" and dig my heels in, but if that's the kind of sloppy rehash that this team is coming up with, it's not worth a $60 purchase.

I'll wait until it's on sale in 2018 or so and pick it up for $15.

Or just buy it used for $15 5 or 6 months after release so BioWare doesn't get your money.

I agree in general that being human-only is no big deal.  But it does raise a point, depending on which races are going.

Dextro species need completely different worlds than levo-based species like humans.

Plus there are species like the volus or quarians which have special environmental needs.

Wow. If that Cerberus thing is actually legit and not a placeholder, my excitement for this game just went from 100% to zero in less than a second.

Again, what does one have to do with the other? Using this "logic" whatever race we choose would only be to find a world for that specific race and every other race gets no world. Or should we have to play a different protagonist for each race, switching between them to find worlds for each race?

Why the Cerberus hate?

Because it's - potentially -  new information.  I mean, it almost certainly isn't, but people are treating it like they would any new info about the game (i.e. omuhgerd it's the worst thing ever).

Because they are a terrible organization who deserve nothing less. Anyone with good qualities left them before or during the Reaper War.

Cerberus in ME 3 was a bunch of stupid making no sense. From the masked pornstar Kai Leng to the Cerberus fleets and soldiers popping up everywhere out of nowhere, killing your own sleeper agents and installing some unsuitable manager guy into your own version of Auschwitz, including turning humans into soap, to do some vague useful research which never amounted to anything. And well doing some experiments on some beings blowing up spectactularly but no worry, we get it next try. Oh and they were completely in the Reaper´s pockets since dunno, according to some book, shortly after First Contact.

Cerberus in ME 2 was this super secret organization that slapped its logo everywhere, ship hulls and operatives. Oh and ofc you joined for some reason even if you weren´t some human supremacist blowing up the council for sh** and giggles. Your mission planning was done by some dude with no clue besides the awesome power to predict that you would only need some dudes and a frigate against an entire race. Oh and ofc they were funding some high risk, unethical experiments which blew up in their face and the smart idea to take one of their runaway experiments on your ship full of Cerberus agents. But no worries, these experiments that regularly blow up are done by rogue factions. Ah yes, sure. You either have a severe problem with oversight or you are trying to pull my leg. It´s really nice that we have no option to say, this is stupid crap you are trying to feed me.

Cerberus in ME 1 were some rogues  who did the usual stuff, experiment with stuff they don´t understand, getting eaten in the process unless you blow them up first.

So in summary, Cerberus in Andromeda would be some human supremacists who follow the vague idea of humanity first, slapping on a logo which belonged to the biggest traitors humanity ever had, consisting of the dumb fools who followed the Reaper sockpuppet into doom, by blowing up or invading actual human colonies. And the guys who would appear in Andromeda don´t even have the excuse of reaper implants crammed intotheir brain but doing this of their own free will.

In short, People don´t loathe Cerberus in Andromeda because they hate new stuff but because this organisation is so mindnumbingy stupid, ramming your head into a wall for fun and entertainment sounds like a good idea in comparison.

Why the Cerberus hate?

I'm down with a story thematically centered around humans, as Mass Effect is essentially space from a human's perspective and BioWare generally like to write about human personality (not the worst thing to write about). However, BioWare have a penchant for taking this too far, presenting humanity special and at times overtly better than other races. Not only is this disingenuous to the reality of the Mass Effect universe (that among many stronger and/or more intelligent somehow we're still #1), but it in some ways perverts the message of accepting and understanding diversity to tolerating others until they can be uplifted to "humanity status." Cerberus is just another way humanity seems disproportionately more special than any other race. Somehow we're the only race that can have bond villain-esque organizations that can raise an army in months and can single handedly pull off feats of God.

BioWare said that they wanted to change galaxies to tread new ground both physically and narratively. I think that's a wonderful idea, because a clean slate leaves room for expansion, but more Cerberus is hardly a clean slate. I honestly don't know how Cerberus could be reused in any significantly new fashion unless they were radically restructured as an organization and plot device, at which point they would essentially be Cerberus in name only. If they have been restructured as a different, more interesting entity then that begs the question: why name it Cerberus at all? Either it's BioWare tripping over their same tropes all over again, or it's pointless reference to a fairly unpopular entity among the fanbase; neither option is particularly good.

I, for one, don't particularly mind Cerberus; they're not the worst thing BioWare have written and I think having a group represent elitism is a good idea, but Cerberus has time and again been BioWare's excuse for all manner of crazy garbage. They're practically a cartoon. BioWare don't need Cerberus to make a good story: elitism exists everywhere and zany science experiments can be conducted by anyone (if those narrative devices are even necessary), and the fact that BioWare seem to think they do is distressing.

I never said that.  I said people hate new information about this game. Or what they think is new information, anyway.

overused organization that turned into the Space Illuminati that was somehow involved in almost everything

Not to mention their continuously shifting goals and methods

ME1 they were an Alliance black ops group gone rogue and determined to advance humanity by creating some sort of shock troops out of alien tech

ME2 they were a benevolent if not entirely competent spandex-clad secret organization just looking out for the little guy.  With quirks like poor safety protcols and a need to put their logo on everything

In ME3 they were an army of zombie stormtroopers with military power to rival any Council race and led by Darth Wannabe TIM

Then in the comics they became Space Illuminati, getting involved in the lives of every single person Shepard ever came in contact with,

Wouldn't bother me. Hell I could see the ark as primarily a Cerberus plan. Aliens drop out of the ship as they just don't have the man power to waste doing it themselves so they return to a more behind the scenes villain/hero.

I would very much like for that faction to carry on into the franchise

It got spit on all over in ME3

I'd love to look at some of those old threads now. Any idea where they'd be?

This thread, for example.

I'm not just referring to the comments of others, I was actually one of the people who used the placeholder argument against the leaked script. I argued it was from an older build of the game and that things had changed, that BioWare was going to totally blow us all away with something amazing in the end.

A mistake I won't make twice.

You know what I meant, I mean really Bioware just tripped over the entire game, but seriously Cerberus turned into whatever the hell ME3 made them out to be isn't where that story should end.

How weren't they stupid in ME2? They went from a rogue black ops group to the richest, most resource-havin' group in the galaxy that wastes money bringing people back from the dead, making 2:1 scale reproductions of rekt ships and so many space stations they're disposable, and yet still can't accomplish anything without Space Jesus.
