Just pick the Male Quarian

Lolarcgrenades>>>> Overlol'd
Tacscan>> trolldrone (which they obviously stole from us anyway)
quarian passives> human (at least for power damage characters)
quarian fitness> human
quarian omnidirectional hop> dumb human sideways only mall ninja roll thing
quarian godlike Adonis ratio and smexy accented comments about soup> boring human whateverness

Plus he rocks the Claymoar, far, far better due to only having like 1 lolcooldown, and is therefore objectively superior by the most important metric in the game.

Mostly you are right. But, sorry, wont agree this time. Overall HE > QME. The variety, joy, 6*6 FE, TB and Cryo Explosions (I always put cryo ammo on her).  Watch as HE's trolldrone dumbfound mfking Primes. That alone is worth it. Agree the QME is easy mode insane amount of damage, but HE is not far. And HE can be he and she. I have watched TheShadyEngineer play the HE.

I also have special soft corner for HE. The kit that taught me to play ME and multiplayer in general. Now it is a kit that is teaching me how to play squishy character without cyclonics.

Agree on racist humans stole drone from Quarians.

Claymore though! That suddenly got me interested. How do I not sacrifice all my Tech explosion and carry the high lord?

Dalakaar put it perfectly.  Throw in an easy-mode stagger stick like the Falcon or Venom and you can have literally every mook on the map staggered and/or primed.

I prefer Scorpion. Put distruptor ammo and the staggerfest is hilarious.

Definitely detonate, shock and lightning. The drone's there to harass, hinder and distract. It's not gonna be doing any of the heavy lifting.

Power damage all the way on the human engineer.

This is my favorite HE spec.

Power damage passives are essential on this build, in order to bump the Overload damage up to ensure it one-shots the shields on as many enemies as possible (letting you then one-shot them with the Executioner).  If you want more fitness, take the points away from the Drone.

For the Drone, Damage and Rockets are awesome on Bronze and Silver.  It's almost guaranteed that your Drone will kill more enemies than at least one of the PUGs you're playing with if you spec it that way.  On Gold+ though, it doesn't do enough damage to be that great, but it's still fairly effective.  It doesn't have the stagger and distraction potential that the Shock drone does, but it stays alive longer and you don't have to re-deploy it as much.

Looks quite laborious, to be honest, despite Alquinn's quality. Clearly he nerfed himself for this tribute.

Also, no Drone ? Heldy please...

Edit: I might have misunderstood. It's an old vid, Alquinn wasn't as l337 as he became later, lol.

That's certainly the obvious choice, although I can say from experience that in spite of conventional wisdom, I have always noticed the difference between no fitness and three fitness in Gold, even on 500 Health/shield characters.

I think it may have to do with the fact that I'm not necessarily so great at positioning myself to avoid damage completely. I used to be, years ago, before I became a score-******. But thanks to my score-Scroogery, I tend to rely on my ability to stagger/kill opponents at a pace faster than their pace at taking me down.

And if that's how one does it, 3 ranks in fitness, even on 500 health/shields, makes a very noticeable difference. It's an extra moment to dodge, and extra moment to finish killing your opponent, an extra burst that is too late to stop your grenade.

I'll probably tool around with all 3 options over the next while that I experiment with Hengy, but I think I'd try dropping weapon damage in rank 6 passives before rank 3 fitness, especially if it increases combo opportunities (something I haven't really tried using the drone for in the past, but tend to prefer most of the time on other kits.)

Maybe you play more on host? I've played so many off-host matches. Ach, so many.... And often - even with a cyclonics I went "WTF?! Noway...." There is somewhere a breaking point where you adapt and fitnessless doesn't matter any more.

Unless someone fucks up all the spawns.

Also a good choice.  But it requires some aiming, for the priming, and I like to take all of the skill out of my no-skill options :)

If the host have a good connection it's not that big of a deal, but way to many pugs insist on hosting with terrible connections, some days it feels like I'm playing on hosts using satellite phones in eastern Siberia.

I'm not sure about the neural shock on the overload : sure it increases the damage vs organics, but it makes hitting (and headshotting) horribly difficult with the executionner. I like the rest.

Actually, I virtually never play on host anymore. I used to, in my first year, but now the only way I end up hosting is if there's a host migration.

That's actually why I prefer not to take Neural Shock. I find the standard stun effect makes headhots easier, while the Neural Shock often makes headshots more difficult.

If I can do a fitnessless Human Engie on Plat, anyone can.

And a question to all rocket drone users :

Why don't you play instead the rocket turret on the FQE ?

It does more damage (2300 vs armor with max bonuses)  and does not need to travel to shoot the rocket, you can just throw it away from the ennemy and keep smamming it for maximum rockets.

The 990 shields thing is based on, like, one blog post that some guy made with (IMO) some dubious math.

You can learn to play with 0 Fitness, and I'd even argue it makes you a better player, but let's not pretend that Fitness is completely useless. 3 ranks can help, 6 ranks can certainly help, but you usually have better things to spend your points on.

That said on any character with three good powers, I will happily do 6/6/6/5/3 or even 6/6/6/6/0 simply to max out the powers. Because I would rather have max'd out powers than more Fitness.

I can play characters without fitness. When it comes to the margins, I prefer to give myself an edge in dying less than give myself an edge in TTK.

Honestly, I don't do it for TTK or anything like it. I don't crunch numbers over my gameplay. It's just good old refusing to see reason and wanting to have all the powers. I use mostly the regen boost gear. I don't know if it really makes a difference with the low CDs I already have but at least I feel good about having it.

Here, we're definitely on the same page. I almost always prefer to give anything that can be built as a caster 6 ranks in all three powers. 66653 is the most common build I use.

In spite of many claims of the inferiority of not building for gun use, I find that it primarily depends on one's skillset and playstyle. I'm not very accurate with guns, and I will be more offensively effective with a power build 9 time out of 10. I will also be more defensively effective, because missing with a gun is a common component of being downed for me.

I don't think the math was dubious, but the conclusions he drew probably were.
