Don't make it a Chantry Garden if you want to hear the Alistair/Morrigan conversation about Kieran.  If you do, you'll most likely be hearing the Chant from some annoying priest while Alistair and Morrigan are talking. And since they're both ambient conversations, you'll probably find it highly distracting.

This is sound advice all in itself. Less plant pots and the annoying chant.

Or, if you plan to do WEWH first and if you plan to do the Chantry upgrade, hold off on the upgrade until after you get the conversation. You don't get the annoying priests until you actually click the surveying tripod and choose.
