Im going to assume that Mass Effect will follow the way of Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto V and will have short but intensive compaign. F4 and GTAV clearly showed how effective this way is. Catch is that it will only work with some of the biggest gameing tittles.

GtaV is the most overrated game ever.
Fo4 is the scond most overated game ever.
Sold GtaV as i NEVER finished it due to how BORING the single player was. I played only online.
Same exact thing happened to me In Tes4 and Fo3. Boring story.

Fallout 4 on the other hand yes out of the blue announced and release wasn't far away.
Bioware defo needed to say a new Mass Effect game was coming out and early. So the lack of info at that time understandable.

I think the reason we had more information on DAI in that time period is because it got an extra year of development after they started promoting it.

long or short campaign won't really matter, if there are people who are going to buy the game they will do it no matter what
the rest (the one that got burned with ME3 and DAI) will wait for the game to come out first before they buy it anyway.
I really like ME trilogy and I pre ordered ME3 but that was the last game I pre ordered from BW. I waited for DAI and I got it half price almost and I'm very happy that I saved some money cause the game isn't worth full price
Although I really am looking forward to MEA I'll wait and see what the game is like before I buy it, so the length and intensity of promotional campaign won't make much difference to me.

They'll probably do what they did with Inquisition. Which I hate. They should have announced it a year later.
Mass Effect doesn't need the huge marketing push.

I'm going to do what I always do: ignore advertisements and marketing to avoid spoiling anything for myself, and do my own research after the game has come out by looking for the reviewers that didn't get a cushy hotel vacation in exchange for a perfect 10.
