The omni-tool is used for various things in the Mass Effect universe. According to the leak, we use it to deploy a shield. However, we have never used it as a UI. It would be nice to have the omni-tool similarly to the "pipboy."

If it includes an animated avatar like Vault Boy, this would be amazing (I'd probably use Drell for a male protag and Asari for a female protag, since they're Mass Effect aliens which resemble humans).

Of course. What a surprise. #YouHumansAreAllRacist
As long as the boot animations don't take too long, sure.
I'm all for seeing how much more they evolve. ![]()

Man, why the first thing came to my mind was an Omni-dild** for FemRyder.
No more internet today.

You can see us humans response in your avatar. Thank you very much.
I would prefer it if developers kept necessary gameplay systems and in game world things separate. It doesn't make sense for the character use their omni-tool when the player pauses to save the game.
Though it could be cool to have say the map as part of the omni-tool rather than the regular UI.
Sure, why not?
- The Soldier class can extend an "omni-blade" from the omni-tool, and use it to impale an opponent.
- The Infiltrator class shapes the omni-tool into a forked "omni-blade" with the addition of an electrical current, then slashes upwards.
- The Engineer class activates an incendiary attack with the omni-tool before backhanding an enemy.
- The Sentinel class extends "omni-blades" from omni-tools on each arm to slash an opponent.
- Batarians can create an enforcement gauntlet, which is like a an omni-tool covered in blades and spikes, to strike opponents.
- Vorcha create a pair of thin, curved omni-blades from each of their two omni-tools and use them to savagely slash the enemy.
- N7 Destroyers can create a slimmer and longer version of the omni-blade that extends backwards from the wrist and is used for a backhand slash.
- N7 Demolishers use their omni-tool to punch an opponent and create a small explosion on contact.
- N7 Paladins can create an omni-shield to protect themselves from incoming gunfire or to strike an opponent. The shield can be imbued with fire or ice to create shockwaves when the shield is slammed down.
- Armiger Legion turians stab an omni-tool into the ground after propelling themselves toward an enemy.
- Geth Juggernauts use their omni-tools to create pulses of energy or drain the shields/barriers of an enemy.
- Alliance Infiltration Units use a cryo omni-blade to uppercut the opponent.
- Talon Mercenaries produce omni-bows from their omni-tools to attack their enemies from afar.

The omnitool should be more than this. While a good effort in the developer's part to enhance the omnitool, in my opinion they are missing the fantasy of the omnitool. Seeing as the device has 'omni' on its name it think it should do more than combat. It is very easy to make the game very combat oriented and solve everything through shooting but that takes a lot of depth away from the game regardless of how fleshed out the writing might be.
In my opinion the omnitool is a natural progression of the man-machine integration. It is a small wireless computer, and as such it must have processing limitations. However, the ship is a another story, it contains a lot of processing power and an AI. What I'm getting at is that you can you use the omnitool to be an extension of your ship.
Your omnitool should be able to decrypt, encrypt, scan, communicate and do anything related with electronics.
PS: A thought that occurred to me is that if the game is based around the character being able captain various ships during the course of the game. Then it would be really cool to see ships and omnitools with different stats because if the map design allows for interactions with your omnitool then it matters what ship and what omnitool you use. It is on you to upgrade them as it directly impacts your game play. Rather than having the effects of upgrading your ship only be relevant at the end of the game.
It would be nice to use it for more. I think having it be like a pipboy is a little much.
the ability to change the color would be nice. maybe have more variable options for melees too for the non-biotic classes (biotic classes can have different biotic punches too). but ultimately I want a crossbow or flamethrower.
Omni-tools, I always imagined as limited use, limited energy combat alternatives. And while capable, were never never meant to be used with strength to kill outright, but rather as a finishing move or tactical debuff to various enemies. With that being said, I think the current form factors, speak volumes for their capabilities and potential for evolution.
I would like the thought of using ammo types, such as cryo ammo with various omni tools. I like the idea of omni-bow that shoots cryo ammo, or a Geth Juggernaut, with an energy drain, modified omni-tool, with an incendiary effect. Making it much more devastating for enemies with armor.
I thought the whole point of that Orange circle UI in one of the games was that it was your omni-tool.The omni-tool is used for various things in the Mass Effect universe. According to the leak, we use it to deploy a shield. However, we have never used it as a UI. It would be nice to have the omni-tool similarly to the "pipboy."

In my other playthroughs, I've tried Ashley, Jack, didn't try Miranda, attempted with Samara.
But in my opinion, Liara and Tali's relationship feels real to me.
Does anyone suppose that what is shown in this concept art image is actually coming from the omni-tool?

Seems almost obvious no?

Would be nice for an interactive map coming from your Omni-tool.
