This has to be the worst boss fight I have ever come across in my 25 years of gaming, and I still have not defeated Corypheus.  Not because I found it to hard, NO he it is quite easy to fight, it was because it was so boring and drawn out.

After a hour, myself and companions had Corypheus health down far enough to then take on the dragon.  After another hour or so we had managed to take around 2% health off the dragons front leg.  After another half a hour I simply got bored out of my brains and switch the game down.

Is this how I'm suppose to loose, by getting that bored I give up?  What a clever fellow that Corypheus is, kill them by boredom.  What a disappointment.  This was my fist full play through and I WAS enjoying myself up until this point.

What level are you? It sounds like you must have gone through the main quest line with the bare minimum power required, because even on nightmare my fights never took that long. I don't remember what level I was on nightmare but I was much lower than on my completionist runs.

I..  What?  This is not how that battle goes.  Not even on nightmare.  With good weapons and armor it should maybe take 10 minutes.

We are at level 20, and I am playing on normal, but it does sound like something is wrong if you guys have not had the same trouble.  Up until this fight we have been killing everything with relative ease.

I can't think why I am doing near to no damage in this boss fight.

That is truly bizarre.  There are other fights in the game that are longer and more tedious than that one, IMO.

What weapons are you running?  Is the base damage low?  I am just speculating since I don't think I ever went to that fight on normal, but if he and his dragon have a lot more armor than other enemies on normal, the damage will be drastically lower for physical attacks if you have low base damage and no AP or Sunder.

I cannot recall all of the names of the weapons, but they are of high damage.  We took down Samson and other bosses quite easily.

Just a thought;  I have just purchased the Decent and JOH DLC, but have not run through them as I am waiting to do them on my next play through.  Could installing those dlc's in some way lowered my damage for this particular fight?

I don't think the DLCs could lower damage that way, Descent and JOH are pretty self-contained and don't change the base game like Trespasser does.

One reason I could think of to have such drastically reduced damage is that maybe you've unequipped your characters' weapons and are fighting with default ones ? Happened to me once in Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, I re-equipped the armor but not the weapons and spent the rest of the quest wondering why the fights were taking so long (though I wasn't dying much at all). Could also be just a one-off bug. Trespasser introduced a bug that makes companions not use their abilities, and the only way to fix it is to close and re-open the game.

In any case, the fight with Corypheus should definitely not be taking hours

It is weird. For me, it was the opposite: the fight took 10 minutes (Cory+dragon+Cory). I remember feeling a bit let down.

Like you go to the war room, there's this flash of light in the sky, you expect a badass fight with all your companions, as in DAO... and the next minute Cory's dead... What?

Sounds like you have a bug, or as someone else said, you somehow unequipped your weapons. It should take a half-hour, tops.

Something is definitely wrong with your game, OP. Whenever I do this fight, it's usually over too fast for Corypheus to say his lines, and that's playing on nightmare. If you've optimized your team's abilities and gear, this fight should be anticlimactic for entirely different reasons than "Nothing I do dents them."

I guess lack of guard damage could make the dragon a bit of a slog, but it shouldn't be that bad.

Just done this test.  My game loaded up at the start of the dragon fight.  I set the group on attack, then went and had a cup of tea.  Around 40 minutes later I come back and find I am nearly dead but the other 3 are merrily fighting away but have hardly done anything to the dragon.

My weapons are not the default they are masterwork or purple's as my armour and shields.  Needless to say I gave up and have come out of the game once more.  :)

This is nuts.  Maybe if I left them fighting now, they might have damaged the dragons foot by morning.

Does the dragon start out with a portion of its health missing after Morrigan/your dragon injures it?

Yes roughly about half it's health is missing from the battle with Morrigan.  I wish she could have finished the bugger of for me.

I am now running the game repair.

I'm pretty certain that Samson is actually a higher level and deals more damage than Corypheus does, and can take out tank-y characters faster as well. It's sort of like Gaxkang and the archdemon, where Gaxkang is actually harder to fight.

Still the same after I ran repair.  It must be in my saved game file or due to me installing the DLC's three quarters the way through my game.  Anyway I'm stuck here for now.

Can you cheat your way past it? I'm assuming you're on PC and can use console commands.

Cory can be easily taken out within seconds using an OP archer build but it'll break the quest.

Have you tried turning the difficulty down to easy to see if it makes any difference ?

Have you tried another save game before "Doom Upon the World"?

The Cory fight has some bugs in it that occur when the cutscenes don't play properly. If the cutscene mechanics bug out, Cory (and I guess the dragon) won't take any damage.

Maybe it is possible that one of the trials is turned on and causing this issue. I'm not sure that they effect bosses but they can seriously effect gameplay if used in the right order.

A earlier saved game doesn't help.

I have not activated any of the trials.

Maybe a console hack then, if one exists.

Could a hair mod cause this?  I never gave it any thought until now.
