I thought about playing last night.

 

 

Then I watched a local video of a cop shooting a kid.  I thought "Wow.  That's murder, no doubt."

 

 

I shut off my phone and went to bed.

I played ME3MP on PS3 for the first time in August of 2014...

...I perceive absolutely no real difference in the acquisition of games between then and now. This, of course, means nothing, as anecdotes are not data.

The only difference is that I played 100% Bronze then and 100% Gold/Plat now.

 

I've been playing approximately the same length of time.  Bronze then, Silver/Gold now.  I might have noticed a slight drop-off in game availability since then, but it might equally be confirmation bias due to expecting a drop-off.

 

If I struggle to find a Silver game, I switch to searching Gold, or start a White/Reapers/Silver game on my own and wait for someone to drop in.  Someone usually does.

 

And if I have a buddy or two online, I'm never stuck for a game.  Games with people I met here are always more fun anyway.

I really need to fire me3 mp up again.  I just have to hook up my 360 to the xbox one and give it a go.  It's been a long time since my last game.  I recall it well, I died as a volus on FBJade at the ezone 3 times as i entered the game and then I rage quit.

I had over 30 ME3 MP Players on my friends' list on PS3, and they're all gone now. Apparently ME3 is becoming PC exclusive now.

I still play, but basically just with myself. I don't see many people online or have much luck with matchmaking after about 7-8pm US PST. So I usually just play other things these days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Games run the longest on PC because it's easier to mod here. That's what keeps even ancient games still relevant today.

I'd say it's mainly related to that ME3 is only available on last gen consoles, lots of people have moved on to the current generation instead. Had there been backwards compability I guess more console players would still be active.

Modding don't have much to do with it I'd say, I have 0 interest in it myself and very few public games on PC are hacked/modded luckily.

I've only jumped on my PS3 account a couple of times in the last year, but it did seem very noticeable that it took longer to find games, and I would get dumped into the same lobby repeatedly.

 

I'm pretty sure PS 3 community has shrunk a lot compared to PC and Xbox. It makes sense - PS 3 was by leaps and bounds the worst version of the three, with a lot of memory leak problems and PSN connection issues. Having an entire community saddled with all those extra problems was bound to have a bigger attrition impact over time than it would on systems where the game runs (relatively) stable by comparison.

 

And going off the "last played" dates in my FL, many of the BSNers that I played with haven't even logged into PSN via PS3 in many months, generally 4-12. Most likely related to the release of PS 4.
