If it's Alistair, then yes. Otherwise, I don't see why you'd keep a warden unless you prefer them over Hawke.
Maybe you're one of the people trying to keep Loghain alive as long as possible.

Oh, come on. No one cares about doing the right thing. Everyone saves their LI (or that other character they wish they could've been able to romance) or their alter ego and then find a million justifications that sound honorable enough as to why they made the choice they did.
This is why everybody sacrificed Stroud. Period.
Except for the Stround fangirls out there.
It is a common mistake to feel like the future of the Grey Wardens as a whole is at stake here, but I just don't see it.
Only the Orlesian Wardens have suffered losses during the events of Inquisition. The Order itself still is doing fine in the rest of Thedas. The situation isn't quite so dire that their survival depends on this.
Each and every Grey Warden ally is more important and useful than Hawke is why. The Wardens in Weisshaupt were concerned with Clarel going radio-silent, it's why they sent Warden recruits (former Templars in this instance) who weren't tainted yet into Orlais to see if they could find out what was happening.

I saved Stroud and I don't even care about him. Saving Hawke over any of the potential Wardens just seemed asinine.

I sacrifice Stroud over Hawke and Hawke over Alistair. I despise Loghain, so he is very, very dead. I do have to say that Hawke has fallen in my esteem. He gone from a witty sarcastic wry guy to a bitter angry one. I have a moment of regret, but then I see him in in silly Hugh Hefner smoking jacket and leave him to do battle...

I'm not a Stroud Fanboy, but I do always pick saving him over Hawke.
Brutal honesty right there and it's definitely true.
Stroud fangirls? As unlikely as a dwarven mage.
I usually left Stroud, because he’s fairly an unknown. I didn’t care for Hawke in DA2, but he/she at least has a back story. In most of my DAO play throughs, Alistair is King with Anora as Queen, and Loghain’s landsmeet corpse wasn’t an option.

There are two of them, basically.
