Ah, I see. So you mean references? That I could get on board with.

Yes. Most choices could just be references, with a few of the more major ones having an impact, like dialogue being different, and even then one much less than if we were in the Milky Way.

Bioware made a huge selling point about how "our choices matter", so thinking they should stick to what they said is entitlement? Plus this topic is asking people their opinion. There is no entitlement in my post.

And nowhere is it stated that it should be relevant in every future installment

I don't believe most choices should have an impact. I think how the Genophage was handled, how the Rannoch arc was handled, these are things that should matter given that we know krogan will be involved in the game, and the Rannoch decision determines whether geth or quarians will be in the game.

Wouldn't be entirely possible for the Reapers, to in fact, still exist?

What about the Leviathans?

I doubt they're existence is limited to the Milky Way galaxy.

And you should doubt that.

But you should also doubt that they aren't limited to the Milky Way.

You should doubt everything for which you don't have conclusive evidence.

I have a feeling that no decisions from the trilogy are going to carry over.

Indeed.

Do you think Andromeda should feature something similar, or completely start fresh, and be all it's own?

Not just "NO" but "HELL, NO!!!!"

That steaming pile of radioactive "art" is at least half the reason we have to leave the galaxy in the first place.  It's an albatross around the neck of the entire franchise.

I wouldnt mind references but no other connections, let this game(or trilogy) have a new and different story and new characters

Thats my hope for ME:A

No. I'd rather the crew in Andromeda have no idea about what happened.

That's gonna be a hard one to justify (if they go this route). There's no reason why shouldn't the Ark be packed with QEC (to which distance to Andromeda is irrelevant) for communication post-arrival

I would like a fresh start in Andromeda.

i think they should start a fresh story. The Ark could have taken off right at the beginning of the reaper attack and they had no way to know anything else that happened, just that communication was mysteriously lost. As much as I was attached to my Shepard, and even though her story didn't end exactly as I wanted it to (except in my head - thanks to that one ragged breath in the rubble), I am ready for something (and someone) new.

I really liked the idea of an ongoing trilogy where decisions mattered on the long run. That's the first thing that got me interested in Mass Effect. Unfortunately reality of game developement and budget constraints made this promess nothing more than a marketing buzz word as soon as the second game hit the shelves. Passing references are possible, anything more indepth ended up being very rare indeed.

No matter how much I love the concept of linked game, the history of Mass Effect shows that the next one will be better off not dragging around the previous games. While they could have some bits of dialogs referencing past events from the previous games (mostly the first, since the second was a secret operation), I suppose they'll reference broad events rather than specific choices, unless we hear about a 'Mass Effect "keep" before launch.

MEA appears to take place long after and far, far away from the events of ME3. Assuming ARK launches during the war the ending won't matter before you leave and in another galaxy can't see how it would matter there.

It depends, if they started their journey during the events of ME 3 how would they know how things ended in the sol system?  Chances are they were in cryo flying through dark space when the crucible fired.

If the Ark left the galaxy before the end of ME3, then the end of ME3 can't matter.

All they need is a lack of intergalactic communication and the end of ME3 never needs to be mentioned.

Wait... so is this gonna be a based on the DA2 premise where a missfit group flees the war and tries to go settle far away from the blight/reapers ? You just gave me a weird deja-vu right about now

Considering ME3's endgame is why we're having to move to Andromeda in the first place, I'd say no.

I think how it's going to go down is that Ryder's choices will be reflected in Andromeda, but Shepard's choices were covered during ME3 and the Extended Cut.
