I sincerely dislike Kai Leng, but that mostly has to do with this ninja-oriental-katana style, which I consider to be just pathetic and unfitting in the Mass Effect Universe. He would have been a much better character had he possessed standard biotic, combat or tech abilities.

Yeah, the whole 'space ninja' thing doesn't fit in the Mass Effect universe. There was never any precedence for it earlier in the series, and then it suddenly crops up for literally no reason other than "Rule of Cool".

I have no problem with a science fiction setting that has space ninjas incorporated into the foundation of the universe; like Warframe for example; but suddenly trying to squeeze it into a predominately western sci-fi was really jarring and stupid (IMO).

Same here. I hate what BioWare did with the Hanar after the first game. One of the few 'alien' aliens with a unique culture and duality to them and all of that discarded in favor of Dirty Harry/Lethal Weapon riffs.  <_<

Not quite; liked the humor (eg; found the Prothean in the freezer behind the Varren roast), but am so not a fan of egomaniacs, elitist actors, and stage hogs.

Big. Stupid. Jellyfish....

Hanar were at best windows dressing, and a joke race at worst in terms of implementation, same with the elcor and volus.

Perhaps, but actually enjoyed the deeper insight to the Volus we were able to gather as the series progressed. They evolved much like the Ferengi that appeared on DS9. And Elcoss explaining that his company covered arms, armor, and funerals, so one never needed to fly coach was rather amusing.

"Is that a saying? Should be...." :D

I don't know, I rather liked Cerberus having a bigger role in ME3. I mean, I hate the stupid Humans Are Special crap as much as the next person.

But it never gets old killing those stupid SOBs like filthy dogs they are :P Making a mockery of TIM on pretty much every step, showing him how much of the very best he and Cerberus are, hearing Cerberus soldiers screaming "taking casualties" in panicked voice...

That was just pure fun :D

Kai Leng, I detest the BioWare time honored tradition of forcing player defeats with certain characters as a forced way to make them seem extra tough.  Another example of this was swiftrunner in Dragon age.  You kick his ass in two straight battles and the game stops, give you a cutscene of him scolding you and then running away.

Aw c'mon, please cut the volus some slack. While salarians were sciencing, the turians pew pewing, and the asari were working the strip pole, the volus had the sense to create a unified system of currency for all the Citadel races.

Too bad the only Volus that had a serious role was Varla Von.

The species that created and regulates the economy of an entire galaxy being supplanted by humanity in a matter of few decades… Seems about right.

I don't hate any character, but I do have a lot of anger towards Kai Leng and Jacob. The ninja's undeserved taunts pissed me off.

The only Volus I'd rage on was that prefab dude on Ilium.

It has been awhile, but am not a fan of the Volus ambassador in either ME1 or ME3. OTOH, I like the various side quest Voli that were attempting to aid Earth and the Council.

I really hate the "humans are special" trope. I don't mind them being the jack of all trades species, but being one of the best at everything in only 20 or 30 years of finding the Citadel? Even the best armor manufacterers like Kassa Fabrication (Colossus) are human.

Diana Allers because she looks soooo vulgar. The first time I saw her was "Yeeeeruk ! :o casual sex character! "

Udina, and I'm so glad I can SHOOT HIM. OH YEAH.

Jacob annoys me, I never speak with him, well only until I've done his loyalty mission (which suck) and then I forget his existence on the ship XD

The illusive man. Oh yeah, another character I can shoot in the head! :D

Yeah that always been a gripe of mine as well.

Humans are the only ones capable of inventing Medigel. Our clandestine shadow operatives/Cerberus are better at infiltration and data gathering than even the Salarians and Asari. Our military might is comparable to the Turians; and we're apparently the only species to conceive of carriers. Our corporations and business ventures out pace even the Volus banking clans. We are more genetically diverse than all other advanced life in the entire galaxy. Etc.

It gets rather boring when you have one species/faction/charater that is the best at everything in a setting. "Oh look the humans are going up against [insert any Mass Effect species] in a battle of [insert any field or skill imaginable]. I wonder who will win in that match up?"  <_<

Actually there is a reason for that, One I actually found funny sort of.

It was only created through practice that the Council itself deemed illegal, which is likely why it was never conceived of in any sort of official capacity, I mean it violates the law on genetic modification. So basically humanity cooked up a product that'd be illegal in Council Space, but is made legal due to its effectiveness, its akin to being the first dude to make Morphine out of Poppy.

Some of the other races have greater longevity and health benefits (eg; Asari, Salarians), so to balance, the Humans have access to items which may be of greater worth.

If I recall it right, humanity was already a space-faring civilization in mid-21st century and occupied sol system and all the nearby planetary system even before the discovery of Prothean tech on Mars and the discovery of Charon relay in 2149. While the discovery on Mars may have advanced the science forward but that was near a full century without any help from alien technology. While the Citadel Council races was clearly older and more technologically advanced but they're quite culturally stagnant.

Plus they provide another enemy faction to the RNG chance of not rolling goddamn geth in MP. For that, I can never, ever hate them no matter how awful they are for the setting.

I don't know, deciding between the hunter staggering you through three walls, rocket troopers triple tapping you... or phantom BS, paired with their goon boyfriends doing animation cancelling around the clock... it's a hard decision.

But as said, at least the Cerberus gives me that visceral thrill when I'm killing them. Juggernaut is far from my favourite class, but force chocking the phantom and listening to her cries of pain... totally worth it

I hated Udina, but he served a purpose in the games so he's one of those "love to hate" kinda guys.  I really hated Javik. It was so cool to finally get to meet a prothean, but then he had no helpful knowledge and he was an unlikable grump. I could have done without him.  And Jacob was my least favorite squad member.
