For me to hate Leng as a character, He'd need a Character to hate. So instead I'll tell you what I hate... The absolute Don't give a **** nature in his use, and presentation

Thats the problem. Leng is a general example of little effort or thought.

Seriously If Leng was just wearing the Slayer helmet and was just an anonymous minion what would be lost?  well other then the fact We'd all argue over who the Male phantom  is that has somehow killed thane, Miranda and ruined the Thessia mission which should have been Shepard's moment of triumph

On Paper, Leng kills Squadmates, is one of the few people to get the upper hand on Shepard, and is in theory The Physical match to TIM's Mind. All traits which should make him a memorable villian

In Practice Leng is incompetent, childish, lacks any form of cunning, and apparently only succeeds cause Shepard and Co are outright stupid. He has no traits other then TIM's Right hand man -IE any Xeno hate from the novels is none existent, The fact him and shepard trade insults like preschoolers on the playground- You wasted Nolan North in a Bit part basically... BW WHAT THE ****

As for Characters... Allers... They killed Emily Wong just so they could justify making Allers an option-lets not bring up the whole based on a person that currently worked at one of the big review sites-

I'd rather take Al-Jilani... That would have atleast ended in Grudge sex!

Yes.

Didn't she send a copy to Hackett after talking to him on the Normandy? If she can send a copy to him then, she can send a copy from Mars

She could, but that doesn't mean Hackett would grant it.

If he granted her access to the archives, what reason would he have for not granting her permission to download the information?

Don't they have to get the data from the Eva body?

This kind of thing is done all the time today with secure information. In fact, the computer I'm using right now has protocols that prevent me from pulling any files onto a flash drive.

Yes, but she already had it on her omnitool when talking with Hackett before it was sent to him

Still doesn't explain why Hackett wouldn't give her permission to download the information.

Ok. I'd have to go watch the scene again to get a sense for it and think if there's an excuse.

Information security. You could say it's silly, but that's one reason. Again, this is common practice in the real world.

So Hackett can't get a hold of anyone to override  security or give him access to release that information when the reapers are knocking on the galaxy's backdoor? I guess the reapers win.

I'm sure he could if he wanted her to be able to remove the data. The whole time we've been talking about this, I've framed it that Hackett possibly wouldn't want Liara to be able to completely remove data. Remember, you didn't ask why it hadn't been passed on, you asked why she didn't download it to her personal omni-tool.

So he can be blamed that Cerberus got the little bit of data they got? Ok.

What does he have to gain by preventing her from removing all the data?

So its the wording? Ok. So why wasn't it passed on then?

Yeah, you could say that.

I'm out of ways to say that this is common Information Security practice.

Well, so that she could tell Shepard and the player about it, of course. I don't have a good answer for that. I just gave a plausible reason for the question you initially asked.

Mean is Kai Leng because his boss fight is just the writers given him plot armor and all threw out the game he is there just to be a bad guy when he is just there as a thing to shoot at cause he evil. An enemy who is there just to be there is a boring bad guy.

Dr. Saleon

Dr. Ross

Dr. Wayne

Dr. Gavin Archer

Warlord Okeer

et al

(Basically, the shallow self-serving "mad Dr." cliche just grew old even in ME1.)

Captain Anderson. Ugh, I can't stand him. He's such a cliché mentor character. It seems like he's someone you're supposed to like and that's usually exactly the kind of character I'm going to hate. Same with female characters in ME1. Even if you don't flirt with them everyone's going to assume Shepard and Ashley are involved and Liara always thinks there's something special between you two. It's tiresome and more than little annoying. Captain Anderson's sob story didn't interest me and there was no reason for him to be there with me at the end of ME3. Kind of ruined the ending for me.

Kai Leng - The type of villain who I didn't find enjoyable in any shape or form. For me a good villain should be someone who acts as a serious threat you want to stop but who also interests you. Like Handsome Jack from Borderlands or Kilgrave from the Jessica Jones TV-series. Both are despicable and very dangerous human beings but also damn entertaining to watch/listen to. Then there's an example from ME series itself: the Illusive Man. I found him fascinating and really liked the conversations we could have, I could understand his views even if I didn't agree with them. (Although I must say they kind of botched him in ME3.) Kai Leng... I didn't even love to hate Kai Leng. I was just annoyed by the jerk, annoyed by his plot armor and unimaginative design (an edgy asian space ninja... yay?), annoyed by pretty much everything about him.

I think Wesker from the Resident Evil series were pretty well done. He's both handsome and evil at the same time and I couldn't help but rooting for him while still wanting to kill him. Perfect villain imo xD

Kai Leng because he was just so awful in every way and had no redeeming qualities. I can't think of a worse character in the ME setting.

I'm not a fan of Anderson either
