Refund guy. His doofy voice makes me want to space him. I wish I could steal his toaster oven and put it in the Normandy's galley.

I never really got the impression that Male Shepard was different than Femshep in regards to how they talk or respond to Anderson. I didn't notice any difference in the dialogue aside from the obvious "she" instead of "he" juxtapositions.

I don't play with subtitles on and I play with headsets/earphones to hear their voices clearly. There are stark nuances that set Hale and Meer apart. Neither Hale and Meer even met until after the post-production of ME3 at a fan convention. Meer himself admit that he didn't think about the female Shepard for years until he play the game and both of them accepted their Shepard as uniquely theirs. It is nonsense to assume that both of them mirror each other to play the game because they share the same name and the same transcript.

The only thing I hated about Anderson was the beginning of ME3 where saves Shepard from falling and then claims Shepard owes him "more than one." Excuse me writers, but which character is the hero and protagonist? Then Anderson decides to stay on Earth to fight pointless battles that can only serve to get people killed.

I get the impression that it's more of Anderson buying time for Shepard.  Yes, the battle seems pointless, but Anderson and other Alliance personnel recognize that if they do NOTHING then the Reapers win that much faster.

The Reapers are going to kill everything regardless, so in that context, one may as well go down swinging.

If I had to pick I'd nominate Diana since she was pretty pointless and her spot should have been occupied by Emily Wong anyway.

THIS. Diana. I could never understand why they didn't use Emily Wong, it would have made a LOT more sense.

And then of course the space ninja Kai Leng lol. He was so out of place!!

I can't recall disliking any other characters xD

I actually don't hate any of the characters. In fact I kind of like the all the squad-mates and other people on the normandy to some degree. I don't even hate any of the villains. Just strongly dislike them at worst.

That being said the character that I find to be the most deplorable would be Saren, mostly because he was an extremly nasty and sociopathic piece of work even before he set his foot anywere near Sovereign.

Saren for me, was the best non-Reaper villain in the series. He felt like an actual threat to Shepard, and there was this sense of a rivalry between him and our PC.

Certainly better than Ki Lame that's for sure.

[...]
Throw me into the group of fans that hated Kai Leng. Besides the reasons others have mentioned (damned Villain Sue,) one of my biggest pet peeves in games is when the devs toss in a character from the EU with very little context. I was left outright baffled to see so many NPCs shaking in their boots over the guy. Then when I found out that I would have to read the comics, and even then the depiction of Kai Leng in the game didn't match the EU.

I hated it when Blizzard did it, and I didn't care for it in DA:I. If someone didn't read the EU for that, they wouldn't know why they should care about things like ending the civil war or Michel reuniting with the Empress. I did read the EU, and I was a little disgruntled that there wasn't much for the player in game. Not everyone has the cash to buy the books and comics. Please BW, don't do that again.

The Catalyst of course. It wasn't even the "character" itself, it's more that Shep became brain dead while talking to him. I was warned about him, but even then I wasn't prepared for how rushed and idiotic the whole sequence felt. Also, I loathe the whole, "Beyond your comprehension" excuse. By that point in the game, it felt like a lazy cop-out. Shep had seen everything from sentient plants to a nearly extinct race talking through the body of someone mostly dead, asteroids destroying a relay to coming back from the freaking dead. Please spare me this "You can't understand" crap. C'mon Starjar, admit it. You can't even give a good explanation, so you're playing the mysterious card. Oh and that fire analogy was especially dumb. Man, I was cussing up a blue streak from the time he showed up until the ending slides kicked in. [...]

Yes, this. I failed to mention it in my post but that's actually one reason more why I didn't like Kai Leng.

The Catalyst has similar problems. I generally really dislike it when the narrative suddenly introduces a totally new character during the last minutes and then expects me to accept whatever bs it spouts (even though my Shep had witnessed the contrary with her own two eyes). It felt extremely cheap. I was like: "Where's my Renegade option so I can shut this thing up?"

Even Khalisah Bint Sinan Al-Jilani would have been welcomed onto the Normandy for me over Diana Allers. Kudos for Emily Wong.

Both Khalisah and Emily would have made sense, since the idea of having a war correspondent on board is a good idea given the context of the game.

I too thought Saren was a great villain, and reading Revelations and Evolution expand a bit more on his character, and my play through of ME1 after I read those two made me see Saren completely differently. He was developed well across Evolution, Revelations and ME1.

How can people hate anyone more than Kai Leng? He's the single worst character in the entire trilogy.

I don't really have any particularly strong feelings about Kai Leng. If anything, I get more annoyed at every other character around him, like Shepard, Thane and whichever companion is nearby. I suppose his character would have been much better if he was basically a serial number (heh, cereal) that served as a Phantom-commander that was just the right hand of the Illusive Man. Really, that's what he basically was throughout the entire game, only in that we'd get less dialogue about him being a vicious or slippery bastard.

He should have been N7 like he is, not freakin' space ninja.

If he was just a straight up N7 soldier that had a wider array of abilities, that would have been pretty awesome, sort of like the clone without totally mirroring Shepard's abilities.

Well have Anderson and Asari Councilor, Salarian Daltrass are hate worthy....I am in the mood to break into Anderson's apartment and eat all of his cereal and do unmentionables to his vases.

He was supposed to be that, he was that in the actually canon novel he was featured in. He was smart, used tactics and misdirection and was skilled in a various assortments of guns and knives, he reeked of special forces.

I mean he took hostages, used explosives, nerve gas and all this other underhanded stuff to give him even more advantages then his own skill set already provided.

The kid in ME3.

I jumped at the opportunity to install a mod erasing him from the prologue and the dreams. Makes them shorter also, which is a bonus in it's own right. Seriously, folks, the one and only child in the whole series to rub our noses into the "you should care" pot.

I hate/dislike a few characters. The usual Kai Lame, lolStarbrat, Udina, Jacob, all those.

And Garrus. Yeah unpopular opinion, whatever. Garrus isn't my Shepard's bff. Liara is ( <3) . So the constant 'bro' crap is irritating. "There's no Shepard without Vakarian!" (ugh) except for the fact that there are many Sheps without Vakarian and they're perfectly fine without Birdbro. Garrus also has some annoying fanbois who jump on anyone who dares to dislike him, that's not really the character's fault I guess, but it does contribute to my distaste for him. He's also a spineless doormat who doesn't challenge Shepard even if you make his girlfriend commit suicide because she witnessed the mass murder of her species. The same girlfriend who he acted like a complete bosh'tet to in the first game.

Sadly, you can't really kill him off unless you want to miss a crapton of content for not playing the BioWare Approved Shepard™.

tl;dr: I hate Garrus

Every character that fails miserably at being cool and lacks the self-awareness to notice: Diana "I think I'm really cute" Allers, Kai "I like anime way too much" Leng, Kaidan "let me tell you about my dead girlfriend from when I was twelve" Alenko, Jacob "I don't even wanna be here" Taylor, Ashley "other races are like bears and dogs" Williams, and Javik "sieg heil" No-Last-Name-Given.

I kind of liked James until the party in Citadel. 'Tu con tantas curvas, y yo sin frenos.' Smooth, fella. What's next? 'Dejame untar mi bolillo con tu mantequilla?'

He actually is, sorta...

In the email you get from Anderson, there's a section that describes his military history, highlights involve his training as an "N" operative, his dishonorable discharge, and subsequent sightings.

As for the "Kai Leng wears a skirt" and "space ninja", that's not unheard of in human military history, and it fits the whole "Greco-Roman" theme Cerberus has.

Hoplites and other soldiers of the ancient era had similar tunic-style armor, since it allows for a greater range of movement, plus the psychological aspect: "Holy crap, that guy's fighting in a dress, EEK!"

As for the ninja aspect, again, the greater movement range is a boon compared to more traditional heavy armor.

I would say Kai Leng is for me one of the worst Bioware characters ever.

A stereotypical ninja with a samurai sword who is able to defeat Shepard in sloppy scripted boss battles, apparently this game wants you to think Kai Leng is awesome and Shepard's equal in combat.
His forced victorys make him one obnoxious and insufferable a-hole.

The creepy disappearing kid who stalks you're every nightmares and somehow appears as the Catalyst in the end would also rate as another obnoxious and insufferable character Bioware as ever conceived IMO.

I personally believe when it comes to worst characters Me3 has them all.
