Should the dev's include all races from the Mass Effect universe, even if that particular race isn't in the single player campaign? For example, let's say ME:A features no Batarians in it's single player and they aren't mentioned at all, would it then make sense to incorporate Batarians in the multiplayer?

Why not?
Volus are not known for troop style combat but we ended up getting more Volus in ME3 Multiplayer than Salarians who have the STG which is well regarded by all military groups.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, but the leak describes the MP as an extension of the SP, just like ME3. Instead of battling Reapers it's battling Khet for Remnant resources(vault raids). I can't imagine they would include non-canon stuff in a mode that's tied to SP.

The link between ME3 SP and MP was tenuous at best, not much more than a pretext to justify the MP part in what was historicaly a single player genre.
MP in the context of Mass Effect is sandbox fun, nothing more. I really don't care for it but I do not see any reason for the multiplayer crowd not to have a the most varied experience possible.

There's really nothing "sandbox" about ME MP. It's highly structured, and adding non-canon races to it wouldn't make it any less structured.

I don't see the other races happening if they aren't already included in the expedition force sent out. That being said I'd be surprised if the expedition forces didn't have some members of various races kicking around.
That and I'd feel bad for all the ******* Master Racers on the forums if they suddenly didn't have their race.
Just imagine Quarian Master Race suddenly bereft of Quarians. *Shudder*.

I wouldn.t dare to compare ME3 MP (which felt like a hollow husk of a game to me) to a sandbox game. I meant sandbox as in "no matter what happens in a MP session, it won't affect in any way the SP world and campaign".

I would be very disapointed if they didn't add in everything that's already is in ME3's MP. All the animations are already there, so I'm not sure why it would be a problem.
I need all those classes and races. I don't even care if it doesn't mesh with the story. All or nothing.
