I have never played this game, Black Desert, having just discovered it on youtube, but its hair modification is similar to what I was suggesting. It seems to have a pretty extensive hair modification system. https://www.youtube....h?v=-QBg1fd82vg. (Hopefully I am not breaking a posting rule by sticking this here)

I believe it has been brought up before and I believe someone mentioned that "Black Desert" spent a great deal of its budget on the character creation aspect of the game at the cost of all other aspects.

I've never, however, acquainted myself with the game or its development history so I cannot vouch for this claim myself so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

A Bioware employee, I forget who it was, said that he wanted something like that in more games, "so bad".

For my own personal character, sure? For my team mates? Nah. Let the look how the devs and artists envisioned them too look.

Next, you'll want to customize your enemy’s hair as well. Lol!

I agree. I want teamates and enemies to be created by the developer, not me.

Thanks for the info. It does look like they spent an entire game's worth of resources on character creation. I didn't realize it had been mentioned before, so sorry to anybody who gets annoyed with repetition.

No one said it will be different. Don't know why he mentioned such thing.

You clearly want them to be different with this thread. You want to customize their hair.

Err, Null's only asked to be able to have the hairstyles used by companions for the player character, not to actually change the companion's hair.

You seem to have gotten lost in spending all this time complaining about how people waste their time on what isn't important.

You forgot to mention Calpernia's hair, which is also unique in Inquisition:

Heck depending on the main story options, you wouldn't even see this model anywhere else.

Anyway, I agree that there's no harm in making the model available to the PC. But I don't really care much so long as the PC has decent options. BioWare protags, in my opinion, don't really have much going on when it comes to good hairstyles, though Inquisition went south on that. The number that I actually like for the Warden, Hawke, Shepard and the Inquisitor are in the single digits. The same goes for the eyebrows, though Inquisition's is easily the worst. Side note: I hate Ashley's ME3 hair a great deal, though mainly because I was fond of her hair up look in ME1 and was attached to the character.

Thats even more pointless then what I thought she was saying.

She wants hairstyles used by companions, for herself? :?

I'm sure there wouldn't be any immersion break at all, when you start to looking exactly like your companions do.  :bandit:

Hey, Lady Null, how about this feature be an after game unlock then?

Because if you think about it, having the option to use a certain teammates hair style at the start of your character creation, would be something of a spoiler, if you haven't even encountered them in your current playthrough yet.

As an after game unlock, sure, why not.

Pointless. Even more pointless if the companion doesn't have hair (Salarian/Turian/Krogan).

Chances that thread creator is a female: 910% as men don't about about such frivolous things.

Exactly. So much diversity in hair.

Ideally there'd be enough good hairstyles that you don't feel envious of the companions. Bioware haven't really managed that, though.

I guess there may be technical reasons that stop hairstyles working on the PC. The companions hair only needs to work with one head/face shape, and potentially less armor/headgear.

I'm okay with exclusive haistyles for the team... but the PC should have exclusive (and good) hairstyles too, not the generic ugly ones of the NPC.

I agree. The team members should have their own styles (that's what makes them unique) but that doesn't mean that the Protagonist should therefore settle for bunch of very bad style options; they're not mutually exclusive. Let the squad mates keep their hair but also give the protagonist a set of nice, unique looking styles to choose from, as well.

Those hairstyles by themselves aren't going to make your character look better, they're only that good because the model is aligned for it.

I don't mind that companions have a unique look/texture/hairstyle. I do care that the PC's options way lower quality, though. It always bothered me how natural Kaidan looked, namely in ME3, but then pop goes my Shepard in a romance scene and her face looks really wonky and awkward. Kinda broke the immersion for me. And I've tried my supreme best making her facial structure as natural as possible. 8|

So yes, I would like higher quality customization options for the protagonist that, preferably, isn't just the default face model (assuming they will even have a face model in ME:A.)

Hair isn't on the top of my list of what I find important when playing a game. With that said I still feel that BioWare definitely can improve on their hair textures. Especially for the PC as Kynare mentioned.

Also I don't mind that party members with have thier own unique hair do either, since it adds to their character.

It would probably irk me if my character and a party member was walking around with the same hair, which could result in that follower could be dropped for the rest of the game.

Looks pretty bad when half the NPC population has the same hair as you do too though. So I guess some unique looks would still be nice for the PC too.

Precisely. Because women can't figure out why in a situation where things could be done better than "short bus" with the exact same effort, men have opted for short bus and other men here have rubber stamped not only the result, but the logic behind producing it. If you're going to put crappy hair on somebody then why on Earth would you pick the player character and not the companion?

If you want it done right...

I absolutely hate companion unique hairstyles. They're often better than our own, generally awesome regardless, and just frustrating to be locked out of on some strange metaphysical exclusiveness of hair (apparently Cullen has murdered the only barber in Thedas that gives that cut).

I want unique hairstyles for everyone. Companions and NPC's can have hairstyles that the PC can't have and PC can have hairstyles that no other character in the game has.

His hair was all curly in DAO and DA2, I wonder what happened to make his hair all straight and pretty in DAI. Did he get that spooked over Meredith's red lyrium rampage XD

I actually find myself disliking the change and it's not often I'm bothered by small things such as hair; I think it's because of how odd a thing it is to change. I'm wondering if it was because it was too difficult to make all-curly hair.
